How can we determine the validity of scientific knowledge, religious doctrines, and spiritual teachings? How can we reconcile their differences? Q&A with Swamiji #6.
Advaita Vedanta is a pramana, a means of knowledge, meant to remove ignorance of your true nature (atma) being sat chit ananda, limitless, uncreated conscious existence, more simply understood as the inner divinity that's the actual source of contentment and happiness within you. Logical proofs apply to scientific, religious and scientific doctrines, but as a pramana, Vedanta does not seek to establish a doctrine, but instead, it merely removes ignorance, ignorance of your true nature that is the root cause for suffering. The proof that Vedanta works is your own experience, experience of the absence of suffering.
Swami Tadatmananda is a traditionally-trained teacher of Advaita Vedanta, meditation, and Sanskrit. For more information, please see: www.arshabodha...

I can humbly add that modern science was and continue now to actively source direct knowledge and inspiration from Vedic texts. Nature of time and space was explained long before western science even started looking into that direction. Plus unlike modern science it actually gives instruments to experience and even use it by anybody( well almost) willing to invest time and efforts into it. That is the highest science.

Sanatana Dharma is truly a blessing to humanity......not preoccupied with eternal damnation, or commandments, sin, etc. It is more than a cerebral acknowledgement, rather a transcendental ethos. Little wonder why this shruti was read with such inspiration by Schrodinger, Heisenberg, etc. Quantum mechanics validates Sanatana Dharma more than any other religion. Look at Einstein, he gave us a simple yet profound formula......E=mc2. Relating all energy and mass as interconvertible. Schrodinger's Wave function, and its collapse, converts, energy into a physical manifestation.....Brahmin, weaving Maya....and the pursuit of all Vedantists to return to the formless, the pervasiveness, the infinite of Brahmin. Truly remarkable sages.......

Namaste! Swamiji, thank you! As always, with a smile, with humor, you deeply revealed the essence of the issue. I will quote one sloka from Aparokshanubhuti of Adi Shankaracharya: Atman (the seer) in itself is alone permanent, the seen is opposed to it (i.e. transient)- such a settled conviction is truly known as discrimination. [ Atman-In this ever-changing world there is one changeless being as witness of these changes. This permanent ever-seeing being is Atman. The seen-This comprises everything other than Atman, such as objects of the senses, the senses, the mind and the Buddhi. ] OM TAT SAT

@@douglasalfseike3867 , namaste! According to the concept of reincarnation, the subtle body, sukshma sarira, is reborn (transferred to a new life). But you need to understand that the concept of reincarnation is real only for the ajnani, for the ignorant, for the jnani, reincarnation is just a fiction. Sri Ramana Maharshi explains: "Birth and rebirth pertain to the body. You are identifying the Self, Atman, with the body. It is a wrong identification. You believe that the body has been born and will die, and confound the phenomena relating to the one with the other. Know your real being and these questions will not arise. Birth and rebirth are mentioned only to make you investigate the question and find out that there are neither births nor rebirths. They relate to the body and not to the Self. Know the Self and be not perturbed by doubts." Sages say: cognize yourself, your true Self. Self-investigation or Atma-vichara returns the mind of the seeker from this phenomenal world to its source, which is pure Spirit, pure Consciousness, perfect Atman. Awareness of its source, Atman, is supreme Bliss without the enjoyer, Jnana without jnani, the fullness and completeness of Love without the object of love. Sri Ramana Maharshi teaches: "Because of the ignorance of the mind experiencing a sense of difference [bheda-buddhi] in Self, [even] great devas are disturbed by fear. [Therefore] it is wise to remain without fear in the supreme state of nonduality, having attained the reality, one’s own Self, through negation [of the non-Self]. Only when one attains the freedom of Self [the state of Self-realization] will the abundant peace of mind in which one will endlessly rejoice, be obtained. In the experience of that monarchy [the kingdom of Self], which is the real and space-like [state of] nonduality, there will not be the least dual desire for fear." Tat tvam asi - You are THAT [PARABRAHMAN], right now. Realize this!

I didn't know anything about this tradition until today when l pondered the root of all suffering and not just how to minimize it but end it. I thought about it holistically and it challenged all the assumptions that was programmed into me by my culture, other religions. I know and understand l am pure awareness and consciousness. Without the quality of being self aware/awake nothing outside of it exists. We as sentient beings are all one consciousness. We are one collective consciousness altogether. I am God, you are God, we are God, we are all a reflection of God. We are one. There is no separation. We are life. We co create life together. and this yeah. This understanding or set of beliefs cured the this void inside me, inside many of us due to hubris and perceived lack. There is in no lack, only abundance because that is the fundamental nature of life. There truly no lack. I feel more secure, whole and well because it resolved all my insecurities and existential pain. That I can have no want or need of anything because l reject any notion of lack and separation the feelings that make up existential pain and loneliness. It's a true liberation and revelation

Good morning. I see so much truth in Vedanta but I have not been able to reconcile the point I make below. You make a statement here in this video that says that Consciousness is not limited by our body, but based on my experience, all perception and sensations are relative to the body. This tells me that the body is a delimiting factor of "my" consciousness and therefore it is not infinite but is limited in at least one dimension. I'm presuming that you might say that Consciousness is not limited by the body in the dream state and deep sleep but I contend that just because you know that you rested well does not mean that you know that Consciousness existed during that time. Any additional guidance you can provide here would be extremely appreciated.

Quantum science is even beginning to reveal the 'observer' when they do experiments and the results are according to their intentions...being consciousness.

Knowledge of God . Is only for those who try to connect to the Divine or rather Divine chooses a person or persons to reveal it's true self. But one must be like childlike. With open mind enquiring.

"Science explores the world around us". What about areas of religion that overlap with the physical world? What about topics such as Hanuman? Is he subject to scientific validation?

Once you experience oneness, you do not need a proof anymore. Till then seek, seek to find, find who you really are.

I'm confused a little; I understand that the atma is the true essence of every sentient being but does this exist independently from brahman or once the material body ceases to exist does the atma go back to brahman ?

I think that you conflate suffering with pain. One can be in pain and not be suffering. Karma is the moment to moment being of your life. What you might think or feel, at the moment, is your Karma, if you believe in the 'illusion' you will suffer with pain, thrill with joy, up and down and up and down and up and ... Transcending the mortal, existing as unconditional Love/Enlightenment, there is no longer suffering! If the Love is unconditional, the 'symptoms' will be the unconditional Virtues; Compassion, Empathy, Sympathy, Gratitude, Humility, Charity (Charity is never taking more than your share of anything, ever!), Honesty, Happiness, Faith... ALWAYS! So, I was tortured and yet was/am Happy! Not talking about idiot-smiley face, but UNCONDITIONAL Happiness from unconditional Love! Namaste'
