DM gave me a Magic Item Eye which had an ability that "mark" a target, and for the next minute I could cast spells as if I was in that location. Somewhat on-par for Scribe Wizard with their Manifest Mind, right? This included creatures and objects. So I figured I could Scry an enemy, and since I could see them, "mark" them and spam spells which do not require sight onto their location for a whole minute. Scary? Imagine sitting at home and 10 fireballs come out of nowhere next to you, one after the other, for a whole minute. Or worse.

Don't know if it really counts as a "terrifying ability" but I flavoured my swarm ranger to be a walking hive of bees, like he is infested with bees, parts of his flesh reveal honeycomb and bits of hive, he constantly smells of a sickening mix of honey and flesh and has bees around him at all times and people have to roll a con save to not throw up immediately upon seeing him for the first time (if you've listened to the magnus archives he's probably easier to conceptualise, think jane prentiss but bees) He was made for a Halloween session and, reportedly, gave one of the other players nightmares. So IRL psychic damage is pretty OP I'd say.

My Tiefling Paladin was given a homebrew ring that the DM did not realize how broken it was until it was too late. My Paladin when attuned to the ring got 4 extra 1st level spells slots and 3 extra 2nd level spell slots and could only use those spell slots when raging-yes, this ring also gave you the ability to rage 3 times a day and also cast spells while raging. On top of that, it allowed you to take two spells of your choice, and the one I chose was Shield. So, not only did my Paladin have an ungodly AC to her, but even if an enemy hit her she would shrug off the damage like it was nothing and keep going. This also stacked to even goofier levels of broken when all our character were given Boons and she was given the Boon of Irresistible Offense which meant “You’re either immune to my damage, or you’re going to get slapped.” Needless to say, the DM reworked the ring after a few months because he had to balance encounters around me.

Back in middle school I was in a homebrew using characteristics from Final Fantasy. One of the main things was using mana for spells instead of spell slots. I had a unique spell called HellFire, it had the same damage output as Fireball but it was Divine/Necrotic fire damage only pure magic resistance could handle it and at a cost of 5 mana per turn it would continue to burn and damage the target. There was no save against it and nothing could put it out unless I decided it or I ran out of mana. For flavor I decided the fire had black flames. It turns out the DM only let me have such a powerful spell because my character was the actual Big Bad of the campaign

Your skin can take any actions you could normally take in your own body (such as to fight or cast spells). When your skin leaves your body, your body’s hit points drop to 0. Your body cannot heal damage naturally while you have no skin, nor do spells that cure hit point damage work on your body; only regeneration (from a regenerate spell, ring of regeneration, the regeneration monster ability, or any other effect that can regrow missing limbs) or heal can regrow your skin and allow you to heal above 0 hit points. If your body is regenerated before your skin returns to it, the skin dies and your consciousness returns automatically to your body. Your skin can be preserved with gentle repose and is suitable for any purpose that requires some of your flesh (such as a resurrection spell) or any magic or ritual that requires a creature’s skin. My human monk is running Mike Mearls concept of a Way of the Soul Knife monk. One of the principle lvl 3 features is that you can decide if your soul knives/unarmed strikes do psychic, piercing, bludgeoning or slashing damage each time you hit. While I was discussing this with my DM, we came to the agreement that this meant that I could basically change the "knives" between corporeal and in-corporeal fom at will. This never came much into play initially, other than for flavoring related to slow fall (smack a blade into a tree, and use it as a makeshift climbing pick). About a year later, it's had a lot more uses. Threatening to have someone's bones implode from a psychic piton suddenly turning corporeal was one in particular that had the DM look up for a minute (we didn't actually do it, he did give us the info we needed, but I did get to showcase it with a wooden plate). I would be lying if I didn't say I have at least considered in what other ways this might be used in terms of getting information.

Would it be allowed to function, though? there's a reason they added in that "moving the object ruins the spell" caveat, but you could just prepare a Buffing Room through Demiplane instead... This has opened up a brand new bag of beans for me to toy with, thank you >:) But another thing to consider is: What happens if you Glyph the spell Magic Jar? Will it functionally work as though the one affected is the caster? If so... Through a stupid means of methods, I used that loophole to give a LV20 Druid access to a polymorphed Tarrasque, thus creating the scariest possible Force of Nature.
@josh-mf7lt3 жыл бұрын
@@ancade4 well technically the inside of the bag never moves, it's, it's own dimension. That's why the combo works. Handy haversacks and portable holes also work, an inside space that is bigger than space it occupies that's outside weight isn't affected by what's inside it doesn't exist where it's outsides are located. Things don't become tiny or weightless in the bag they just don't affect it until the room inside is overloaded. Also portable holes, handy haversacks, and bags of holding all call each other extra dimensional in their warning not to place one inside another. Also yes demiplane which is also extra dimensional will work, but you can get a bag of holding a lot sooner than an eighth level spell in some cases. Another option is leomonds chest but you have to manage that one a little more as it can disappear, it's not extra dimensional but teleportation isn't movement. As far as magic jar goes I don't think it is extra dimensional nor does it teleport so I don't think it will work for moving glyphs unless I missed something reading it. Also demiplane creates a space within the astral plane where all demiplanes are located, the astral plane is the plane between planes, the fact that extra dimensional objects when placed inside each other spit contents into a random location inside the astral plane is another clue that the inside of the bag doesn't exist and move along with the user on the material plane.

@@josh-mf7lt might've misunderstood my intent when I spoke of Magic Jar. I was talkin' about redirecting the target (since as written, the glyph chooses the creature that triggered the glyph as its target), allowing for nonwizards to be the user of said spell, instead; I was NOT talking about inscribing a glyph inside of Magic Jar. (the Glyph would be on a surface in the example scenario.) If you're considering whether or not the glyph will be needed to be kept from breaking after being triggered... As written, it wouldn't, though this did make me feel out a useful houserule to weaken Glyph of Warding slightly (and it's cousin, Symbol), by making it destructible to end a sustained effect early: "After being triggered, If the glyph is sustaining the effects of a spell or feature, the glyph may be broken to dispel its effects. Any creature that has discovered the glyph may attempt to break the glyph through multiple means. If it is on a surface, to break the glyph, creatures that know where the glyph is may make a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check against your spell save DC, breaking the glyph after two successes; or make attacks against the surface, following object statistics rules (found in the SRD), as though the surface were Large and Resilient. If it is inscribed on an object, moving the object more than 10 feet from where you initially cast the glyph will cause it to break, as normal."

Oh this is another one that involved my wizard/druid Corvon As a wizard Corvon was known for getting out of hand with wanting to know knowledge. Gathering information was always his biggest thing and he always had his head in a book to get whatever he can. However during a party he managed to get the hold of a magical artifact that a goddess actually wanted and this in turn gave him the idea to ask for a bit of meta knowledge. Well he got it alright. The goddess he gave the artifact who was known as the goddess of ends and suggestions and the knowledge that she provided was that everything around him was actually an illusion and that nobody not even the gods existed. He and all the voices in his head were part of a construct soul. Now you may ask how is this an scary power? Well with this knowledge he soon developed his own form of magic called vanishment. Which basically caused anybody or anything that he said you do not exist to cease to exist if they didn't get a will save of 40 or higher to deny it. It was a very hard thing on him up until the point where he managed to acquire a god-spark from mercy killing his daughter and he managed to slowly become a god himself. Now he rests in his plane creating new avatars for his soul to reside in different realms and gather knowledge for him. He is now the god of Vanishment Madness and Curiosities.

I have a friend who uses a druid/necromancer dual class with a few homebrew tricks. His favorite spell combo is Violent Brambles (in short, causes pointy, woody overgrowth to violently sprout from the ground in a set area, regardless of terrain. This causes root, 1 point of true damage on a failed dex save percturn, and silence), then Sticks To Snakes (for those who may not know, it turns branches and other small pieces of wood into snakes), commands all said snakes to wrap up as many opponents at possible, then triggers something called Volatile Summon (any summoned, transmuted, or transformed creatures made by the caster erupt in a cloud of viscera and other affects, depending on the creature. The viscera blinds and disorients on a failed CON save, and panics anything that fails a WILL save. In the case of snakes, it poisons those in the cloud for 2d6 poison damage per turn, and cannot be resisted if previously injured or has unobstructed breathing, such as not wearing a mask or closed-face helm). Needless to say, this was one helluva way to intimidate things without ACTUALLY having Intimidation.

The reason this is scary is because after using hunters mark turn one I unloaded over 120 damage into an enemy at 5th level without even critically hitting, and in the process I popped the big bad like a zit before anyone had a chance to hit him because they were all stunned in the first round of combat and I rolled the highest initiative. My meanest combo currently? I have a beast-master ranger I'm lining up with the Shadow-touched feat, which grants invisibility and one necromantic spell of your choice. I'm inclined to test a bit to see what I like, but the current combination is popping invisibility and cracking off an ensnaring strike they can't see coming, before, since they can't dodge it, giving them a nice ,healthy tap of Inflict Wounds. Not only do I get to disable a foe for a bit with a slap to the face with the flat of my sword, I get to inflict additional damage-helps since the campaign I'm gearing him for won't let him have an animal companion until he's lv10. (..DM thinks that even a hawk is overpowered before that point.) Not the greatest compared to what I see here, but...I figure it's a start-a gimmick to pin down a foe for a bit and soften them up for later. Not to mention it allows him to explore more freely when he has access to his spell.

If mixed with some of the other features, his attacks would skyrocket even further, going from 179 to well in the 800 range. Not including Time Stop shenanigans, which with one of his classes, allowed him to attack without breaking the time stop. He was the most powerful character I've made, even including the wizard that ended up with a 228 intelligence score. Healing Word is a bonus action, cast at level 1 it's 1d4+3 (my wisdom bonus) of healing, plus 1d8+3 from Chalice. I spend 1d10 HP to cast it. I maximize all healing on myself. I can cast Healing Word over and over for 1d10 HP, and divert either the 1d4+3 (7 maximized) or 1d8+3 (11 maximized) to myself to restore that HP I burn, then the rest to my allies... every turn I am in Star Form, while still using my Eldritch Blast (which I am focused in) and never run out of spell slots. o_O I did not ask for this power, but I am saving this reveal for a boss battle.

Puppet. I can force any target I can see within 120ft to make a CON save. On a fail, the target MUST move up to its speed in a direction I choose. In addition, I can cause that target to drop whatever it is holding (yay free weapons!). No effect on things immune to charm. In Homebrew campaign our DM let us expend extra spell slots to target multiple creatures with the same action (among other cool effects). I once used this to move a platoon of enemies over the ranger's Spike Growth. Since they had no idea it was there they just died walking over to me. I have never felt more powerful as a tiefling arcane trickster.

Wizard who could modify spells. Could not increase damage, to add effects I had to sacrifice spells that had the effect I wanted. Sacrificed ray of frost to put the slowed effect on the cold version of prestidigitation. All creatures touching that space would be slowed by 10ft until the end of thier turn. Being that this turned some stationary air chilly it really wasn't as op as it sounds it still scared the dm into running into multiple antimagic fields. Only time it really got to shine was in a naval battle against some bird things. I had increased the area of effect for prestidigitation and the number of castings I could have active(took about 1k days in downtime and at least 25g per day) effectively made a slowing net above the boat when we found we couldn't run away. Once we realised I was an idiot and it could chill anything(not a creature target) we starting chilling conjured water th hat wed hurl at enemies. Then it became terrifying

Was in a water based campaign, built a monk to jump across ships (If I missed I would just walk across the water and up their ship). Our party had a joke where I was the only one in our "boarding crew" because 9/10 I'd start most close ranged encounters. Isn't scary, but I find it fun to imagine a person jumping like 120ft just to punch you in the face or jumping, seeing they missed but then you start hearing them fucking walk up your ship.

So bc of DMs homebrew history for Toril and other plot reasons, my eladrin cleric is a distant niece to the Traveler by like, +15 generations. Dude hung around each of her ancestors bc his twin started the tradition of the Wanderer and he liked to keep an eye on his nieces to keep them safe. Each generation has someone who takes that role, and it's currently her turn. Anyway, the Traveler being the Traveler and enjoying the chaos, sort of helped her get her hands on a rubber chicken. She also has a spell called vacuum in her arsenal...and the DM approved of her infusing the rubber chicken with the spell. Soon, she'll finish it and she can throw it at a group of enemies to trigger the spell. They'll suffocate and take bludgeoning damage and die to the sound of the damn thing letting out an unholy screech... DM said Trav will be proud of her and I can't wait.

the regenerating Glass cannon: Rogue (Swash) 3/Monk (Mercy) 3 RAKISH AUDACITY = bonus to initiative(mening dex+chr+the D20 roll= ) my one friend could not believe i had a +10 to initiative as a multi class at lvl6(dex59++chr5=10) and 1 on 1 fights you get to sneak attack with out adv(and as long as you position across from a party member in multi it dosent mater for mass combat). then as a lvl3 monk Flurry of Blows for 1 ki point (dagers count as monk weapons as they are a simple weapon and do not have handed or heavy property. meaning your can use the dagger and as long as you are not holding any thing in your off hand you can FOB.) after you attack you can just move away thanks to FANCY FOOTWORK. if at the start of your turn your short on HP. you can spend 1 ki point to use Hands of Healing and get hp back (martal arts die[1D4 at this point]+wiz=Hp) and that is how you get a regenerating glass cannon. Ps: don't get me started on the double dashing lol. lets see you say they are 190 feet away? this turn for my Action ill dash and my bonus action dash. next turn ill use bonus action first to dash and ill use my action to attack then as i have "made a melee attack" on the lone BBEG i can now use the remaining movement to get out of melee attack range."

This ability is simply known as "Snatch". It had several levels, at the first it could be used once a month and you roll 2d6 after targeting a single creature. The first d6 was the attribute that the targeted creature was having snatched away, the second was how much was snatched away. All hinged on a wisdom saving throw. By the end of that campaign it was introduced, the ability had upgraded to affect all targets in a 60 ft radius, and instead of 1d6 taken away, it was now 2d6 siphoned over to the one with the ability. Nothing like seeing somebody suddenly go from 12 strength to 24, or 14 intelligence to 21. Absolutely busted ability, but it was so, so fun to see in action.

I have the power to use the 2 Help Actions at 30ft out, as well as heal and cast buff spells from up to 100ft away. Divine Sorc/ Mastermind Rog with Find Familliar from the Magic Initiate feat makes me the ultimate support player. I don't roll a thing but the majority of my party are doing so much damage between buffs and advantage, the GM started throwing things that would completely slaughter higher level parties at us just to make the battles interesting. Subtle and Twin spelling things like Invisibility and Enhance Ability out of combat makes RP encounters all but trivial as well. Half a year in and we haven't seen a single party death all because my character sits in the back lines with our warlock and tells everyone what a good job they're doing.

Okay, bit if a doozie here. So, my character is lvl 10, and a multiclass between Gloomstalker Ranger (6th level) & Assassin Rogue (4th level). I’m sure some of you already see where this is going... My previous character had died, so I got to bring this one in at 8th level, and build him from there. Story wise, he was the defender of a relatively small desert outpost, in charge of hunting the monstrosities that would plague the dunes, such as umber hulks, etc. Here is a list of feats and traits that make this guy the perfect ambush killer: Human Variant for Alert Feat DEX of 16 WIS of 14 Alert Feat: +5 initiative (and other stuff) Expertise: Stealth & Perception Sneak Attack: 2d6 Fighting Style: Archery for +2 to hit Dread Ambusher: - Extra attack on 1st turn w/ extra damage - WIS modifier bonus to initiative Assassinate: - Advantage on attacks if you go first - Autocrits against surprised creatures Sharpshooter: - No long range disadvantage - Ignore 1/2 & 3/4 cover - Minus 5 to hit, +10 to damage Extra Attack Eyes of the Eagle - See detail miles away like an eagle Oathbow - Advantage against sworn enemy - 3d6 on every hit against sworn enemy Zephyr Strike - 1d8 extra damage & advantage on that attack Proficiency in Poisoner’s Kit So, overall, +11 Stealth, +10 Perception, +10 Initiative, +11 (or +6 w/ sharpshooter) to hit (DM ruled Oathbow a +2 weapon), damage on an ambush scenario is 3d8 (3 attacks) + 2d6 (sneak attack) +9d6 (oathbow ability on 3 hits) + 1d8 (zephyr strike) + 1d8 (dread ambusher damage) + 9 (DEX from 3 attacks) Now, because of sharpshooter, dread ambusher, and the oathbow ability, he can make three attacks at advantage from 600 ft away, through insane cover, all automatically critical hits. So in total, that is: +11 to hit: 10d8 + 22d6 + 9 or +6 to hit: 10d8 + 22d6 + 39 (Sharpshooter Attacks) And that’s not even including poisons applied to the arrows. If he manages to get his hands on enough purple worm poison (12d6 poison damage on a DC 19 CON save) it would increase to the following on 3 sharpshooter hits if they fail all three saves from 3 poisoned arrows Advantage on +6 to hit: 10d8 + 58d6 + 39 The average damage output of the perfect scenario for this combo is 287 points of damage. The maximum damage is 467. Under the right conditions, this human who grew up in the desert is capable of blowing through at least half the HP of an ancient dragon in 6 seconds. And it’s not even an optimized character build, it was just a concept that I thought was cool 😎

Barely lvl 5 and he can spam stunning range attacks, make my ally's attack with adventage. Heal from the distance my team 1d12 +2 like bonus action, ignore vision line's. And he have passive regeneration, while he is under half health, he gains 1d4 + 5 each turn. With a 20 AC... He is pretty unkillable and fun to play.

The scariest thing one of my players can do is being a Dragonborn Conquest Paladin (of bane) named Dova-Kin. He took the Dragon Fear feat. These synergize and if a mob gets feared by the Dragon roar their speed is made 0. Hes also taken sentinel. So if he gets into range of any mob, they can all but never leave. Being trapped against a very angry dragonborn paladin where you can't do anything but pass your turns until you save against the fear (may only roll when you take damage) has led to quite a few instances of a mob just freezing in place and getting brutally murdered by the whole party.

Jars of neverending fire. A homebrew variant of alchemist fire at it's core. Fire made with this oil Will not spread at all, but is also near impossible to put out for an hour, dealing 1d6 fire damage each round. It was perfect for my character who liked putting infidels and the unjust in general on the pyre. You won't burn down any buildings with this, but i had to inform our dm that even a single well aimed jar of this stuff could result in a Tarrasque suffering a slow, unavoidable and painfull death. Not as ingeniously complex as some of the combos on here, but the combo we've taken to calling the Grabbin'-Blastin'-McFuckarooney is delightfully devilish in its simplicity. If the wizard with Metamagic Adept goes first, she'll cast Hold Person, followed by a Quickened Spell Disintegrate. Which is itself followed by a barrage of fireballs, grenades and other DEX save-based attacks that the bad guy auto-fails the save on because he's paralysed. Our DM was not happy with us when we first unleashed that one.

I had the idea for a homebrew feat called an Essence Caster or Soul Caster. Basically you get your normal spell slots depending what class you take but with one catch. If you run out of spell slots you can choose to take 1d6 damage to use expended spell slots. It goes up 1d6 the higher the level of spell maxing out at level 12 spells of course which are 12d6. Gods help you if you have to do THAT spell twice XD.

D&D 3.5e, character is a Pixie Barbarian. Has matching +1 Sizing Feycrafted White Dragonbone Battleaxes. Instead of using her rage she prefers to use her one per day Polymorph to change herself into a Hybrid form Werebear (gaining the physical stats of the Werebear while keeping her Pixie mental stats). She uses the Sizing ability to change the axes from their normal Small size to Large size to accomodate her new form. Being Feycrafted they are considered one type lighter for purposes of swinging them with the tradeoff being a 1 step reduction in damage die. This changes them from One-Handed to Light reducing the penalty for Dual Wielding with them. The fact that they are made from White Dragonbone grants an additional 1 Cold Damage. So in her (new) base form she does 2d6+12+1(Cold) damage. Until the party buffs her up and she crits. Her weapons being battleaxes deal x3 crit instead of the normal x2. Buffed up and scoring a crit on *both* axes she currently has our group's one-round damage record at 190.

Funny DnD Nat 1: So we were playing a one shot and we had the very basic story of fighting a dragon in its lair. After many stupid fighting tactics, including the Druid becoming an air elemental in order to fit inside the dragons colon, and finding his way into the intestines only to then turn into a bear, the cleric trying to 1v2 a couple of stone golems with a non magical sword, and the barbarian and wizard basically bailing the fight on a magic carpet they found, the building the fight took place in eventually collapsed as the bloodied dragon flew up through the roof, leaving the party (excluding me, the rouge) and the two on the carpet under a pile of rubble. Because the dragon was bloodied, the barbarian decided it was time for the awesome finishing move. The wizard flew the carpet near the dragon, within jumping distance. The barbarian leaps from the carpet, axe over his head, and irl yells “BY THE GODS I AM STRONG” Rolls to hit, you guessed it, Nat 1. The barbarian had perfect execution in his attack, everything lined up for the head of the dragon to be split wide open, and for us to claim a long awaited victory. Except the dragon had different plans, and simply opened his mouth. A few turns later we eventually fished him out of the corpse of the dragon, covered in stomach acid with ruined clothes and a broken ego.

Came up with a homebrew ability that I haven't used quite yet, but it has potential to deal some scary damage. It's basically a stronger form of a Rebuke the Violent from the paladin Redemption oath. Basically, the damage scales off the the total damage that nearby allies have taken, which being at lvl 7 currently, if used at the right time, could deal easily up to 300 damage. No saving throws whatsoever to lessen this damage. On top of this, since it is such a powerful hit, they have to make a strength save in order to avoid being knocked prone. ALSO, the damage from this attack can be divided across multiple enemies how I please. There are some drawbacks, as these are what our group calls "Last Stand abilities", which are to only really be used if absolutely necessary. This ability takes me down to 1 HP, leaves me at disadvantage with attack rolls until a long rest, and also can only use it once a week. I'll give an update on this ability as I plan on using it next main session against the BBEGs.

My scariest ability came from a very shortlived campaign. I was playing a Shadow Dragonborn Life Domain Cleric. Our party was on a train that was currently being hijacked by a roaving band of Kobolds and Gnolls. My Dragonborn managed to not only successfully sneak up on one of the leaders, but after some clever talking and good rolls, I managed to convince her to kiss me. I then held her, and proceeded to use my Breath Weapon point blank, with the Shadow Dragonborn I used, my breath was Acid. The whole table went absolutely nuts, I rolled near max damage. This Kobolds throat and vocal cords were absolutely destroyed, so she couldnt even scream for help as I closed in for the finisher. From that moment on, my character gained Advantage in any situation that involed a Kiss, and we affectionately dubbed this skill "Kiss of the Dragon"

A sword strike that forces a Charisma saving throw which tears the soul a bit from the victim on a fail. I’m an AT rogue so this is coupled with sneak attack so OW(can’t pair with booming blade) It also has an absorption property so I basically(and viscerally) sucked an entire person in after lopping off his hands and legs while disemboweling him. And it led straight to damnation(which is homebrewed worse hell) so witnesses crapped themselves quite a bit. ...and I gained bonus action booming blade afterwards so I became more terrifying.

It may not be relevant, but I just thought of a cool Gnome PC idea. You know how Gnomes love names? What if every level you tack an extra name onto your character, based on your accomplishments gaining that level! So, for example, you start at level 1 with Dave the Gnome. Then he levels up to Dave Slayer the Gnome, then Dave Slayer Mayhem, then Dave Slayer Mayhem Kindler, and so on. Your name would end up becoming a tale of the adventures you went on, and seems very in-character for a Gnome (Especially a Gnome Bard of Lore, or maybe a Paladin of Devotion?)

Here’s the damage dice lined up: Longbow= 1d8+dex(+3) Sneak attack= 2d6 Swarm dmg= 1d8 Bugbear surprise= 2d6 Lightning Arrow (spell)= 4d8 Favored foe= 1d6 (or Hunter’s Mark) That would be 6d8 + 5d6 And since it’s from a hidden position outside of combat, those damage die DOUBLE thanks to the Assassinate feature; If it hits, it crits. That’s 12d8 + 10d6 I should also mention, I can do this from 600 feet away, thanks to the Sharpshooter feat. With some magical tinkering, I plan to increase that range as well

So I’m a level 10 feral teifling of Zariel-which is pretty unique-with 6 levels Beast Barbarian and 4 levels Psi Fighter. My dm has us roll for stats and I I have increasingly high strength with high dex and con and decent intelligence. The stats don’t matter much for the abilities that I’m about to mention. So when I enter combat one of the first things I do is activate my telepathic feats “Detect Thoughts” which allows me to hear the forethoughts of all creatures within range. I was able to reason with my dm that this would give me advantage to all saves and attack rolls while causing disadvantage to the enemies doing anything against me. This was a huge buff since I had a magic item that boosted my AC up to 20 from its original 18 which made it next to impossible for the enemy to get away from me. 2nd up I have ranged melee attacks. Up to 30 feet any weapon I am holding can be used up to 30 feet which means I’m attacking with a greatsword like a spiritual weapon minus concentration. Next I have blind fighting, this grants me 10 feet of blindsight which means in order to sneak up on me you would need to be invisible and succeed a stealth against me according to the rules. This also means that if I’m magical darkness I can still “see” and that grants me advantage for attacks. Next in my beast Barbarian mode I can climb walls like spider man up to my movement speed. This means that I can hang on a ceiling and use my ranges greatsword while staying in a pretty safe spot. Back in my Psi Warrior I have the ability to grant myself or a creature I see within range a Psionics die (which currently is a d6+int) to reduce damage from any source as a reaction. Now back over in my beast Barbarian when I rage I can choose between claws, jaws or a tail, I usually opt for the tail, not fo it’s range but it’s ability to roll a d8 as a reaction and grant that to my AC for any melee source of damage. Overall this built is incredibly overpowered in my opinion. And I don’t have my levels in warlock... yet... 😈

This our first ever game which is still going on, and our dm who has experience, decided it would be fun to give each character a special ability throughout the campaign, our elf wizard just has better necromancy, and can summon 4 skeletons or 1 Minotaur skeleton from a corpse once per long rest. Next comes a warlock who’s a hat. They can clone themselves which are an exact copy of them when they make it, but attempt to usurp them each day, where they have to make a charisma save for how many clones there are. Not sure what the human rogues is gonna be (they don’t have it yet) but I know what mine will be. I’m a 6 year old 8ft tall dwarf. A bard and a cannibal. I eat things that look edible, usually living things like humanoids, spiders and army ants so far. Also a young white dragon. We think that we’re gonna give him the ability to gain certain properties from whatever he eats for a short time. Haven’t got the fine details yet, but it sounds great so far. One thing I’m thinking of is eating a poisonous frog. To make my skin poisonous. It’s gonna be great.

As a Champion Fighter, I managed to craft a sword that has a double-edged blade split down the middle and a special compartment within the hilt to store oil for cheeky sprays to ignite with sparks. Due to the design of my weapon, I eventually realized that I could socket a Ring of Spell Storing that I gained from a bossfight. What I ended up doing is finding an enemy or a spell scroll that casts a spell and have the Ring of Spell Storing store it. Now every time I managed to thrust my sword into a target, my DM allows me to unload a Spell the Ring of Spell Storing had into the target without the ability to Save from it.

The Goliath in the beginning can be achieved! My son is playing a Goliath Barbarian (Path of the Strongest homebrew) Goliath s already count as Large for Lift, Push, Drag. Path of the Strongest makes you count as 1 size larger at 14th level, now making your Medium creature Huge! Taking Path of the Strongest also allows you to single hand wield a two handed weapon, you must pick a favored weapon. My son's character is also a Blacksmith, so I though one handing a Maul would be interesting. At 6th level, you gain +1 AC while wielding a weapon in your off hand and can make an attack with your off hand weapon as a bonus action. At 10th level, you can spend your turn to materialize 1 or 2 of your favored weapons, they last for 10 minutes, and they now do psychic damage. Lastly, also at 14th level, while raging and making an attack with your favorite weapon, your Strength modifier for damage is Doubled!

Its kinda a mix between Homebrew and Unearth Arcana for my story but... Un a UA there are what are know as Magic tattoos you can attune with, there is one called the spellwrought tattoo and can usually only go up to 5th level spells but i homebrewed it (with my DMS permission) to go up to 9th level. anyhow i so far ive got the burning hands spell on the Tattoo at 2nd level which does 4d6 damage(we are all Level 3 BTW) so its quite a strong ability for level 3's and my DM is gonna make it where i will be able to upgrade the Burning hands SpellWrought Tattoo throughout the story.

Battle master bug bear is pretty nasty. Especially if DM lets you have long limbed all times just not just your turn. Mix with polearm master and combat reflex for additional opportunity attacks per round. Also can assassinate from 20’ away with lunging attack and adding 2d6 per racial surprise attack and multi class into rogue. Oof

So I came up with a crazy build that pretty much was like good luck hitting me. I would really like to try it one day. So it was a mix of an Echo Knight and a Shadow Magic Sorcerer and I just made it as I want as many of me as I want so like cloning somewhat. So you have the Echo Knight clone (that is 2 of you) then you have the spell Mirror Image (now that brings 3 of you out so that is 5 of you now and if I am right could be wrong but you have the Echo cast it as well so that is 8) than you cast the spell Blink and now you are in and out of the fight. They (enemies) for sure don't know which one is which then you have the Shadow Walk now you are going through the shadows so it is hard even harder to find you. This is if you are lucky and have/get a Cloak of Displacement then now you have another clone (1 more if I am sure). So in total, you have 9 of you in combat and 8 of you for the enemy to get through before they get to you and you are in and out of combat and jumping through shadows so yea. That is a crazy build that I came up with not sure how many levels into what classes yet but I think it is an interesting idea. Let me know what you guys think I am sure I have most of the things right but if I am wrong about anything let me know. Also i know they are not clones of you but that is the closes thing i could think of.

honestly the power in D&D that scares me the most is either wish or power word kill

Player played a homebrew race that wore a mask that, once removed, would detonate like a nuke and fry everyone and everything for something like 100d8 damage in a mile radius or something of the like. But the character would be utterly destroyed and nothing short of a wish or deity intervention could rez him from this. Also had another player in the same campaign take a homebrew that gave him essentially infinite time rewinding on death to the round before. That was a WILD campaign

reminds me of something i read about once. a magical staff with lots of enchantments, including "final strike", which would destroy everything near it, and had a 50/50 CHANCE of allowing the wielder to escape the destruction by hiding in a pocket dimension...
