The worse part for me being disabled is that it slows me down walking as I wear a full leg brace of all 10lbs it weighs and my arm dangles when I walk. I suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at age 20 which resulted in a stroke. At 65 yrs I’ve gotten over it. I had 2 children after the stroke. Changed diapers faster w/one hand then someone with 2. I can do everything thing w/1 hand so I’ve adapted! I’ve got a lot of empathy that I probably wouldn’t have had I not had the stroke. I wasn’t suppose to live but I’m SO grateful I did. I live life to the fullest now! Love your channel you inspire me!

I had a very small intro into the disability world when my 4 year old son was on high dose cancer treatments. He was in a wheelchair for about a year. The worst part of him being disabled was obviously the heath issues. The best was the people we met. In that short time we encountered so many wonderful, kind, intelligent, capable, caring and talented humans. I know this might make people uneasy but the contrast between the quality people in the disabled community vs the able bodied community was quite shocking. Nearly every single person in the disability community was generous, kind and incredibly self aware and motivated. It’s a strong contrast to general public who take for granted so many things because they simply haven’t had to worry about health issues or even their own mortality. It’s a perspective that I think many people with disabilities are blessed with as it changes the they appreciate the world and life in general. Watching my son navigate that time in his life has grounded me in a way that I probably never would have experienced otherwise.
@morgangonnelly56832 жыл бұрын
I think that’s why so many people say horrible things like “I’d rather die than be disabled” because it has been hammered into their head that their physical appearance and abilities are the most important things in life and that you can’t be happy without that. Being disabled forces you to look within yourself to find happiness and it seems many disabled people find true sources of happiness more easily and don’t take as much for granted.

Monday Grubbag Question: my 10 year old daughter has a physical disability. She is a very happy little lady that lives life with her disability proudly but every now and then gets down on herself. Do you have any advice or words of wisdom for these moments? I love you two and your relationship so much! This video had me cracking up laughing!

If I were Hannah, I would say that the best part of Shane's disability is the fact that it's what brought them together, when she saw that documentary! Much love to you both! 💞

Hi Shane and Hannah! Grub bag question: what are your favorite books of all time and/or what books are you currently reading?

Thank you for sharing your life stories with all of us! It is amazing how much people just assume about the two of you and your lives. I look forward to your videos and hope we can all enjoy them for many years to come.

Why do you not use a staff for your daily self care?

I LOVE you two so very much!! You both are the coolest people I've ever know! Thank you for all you do! So my question is: if you guys were gonna write a funny, silly children's " Squirmy and Grubs" book , which cartoon character would most be like each your own personality that you would portray in the book, and what adventure would your cartoon characters do?

Shane and Hannah have either of you ever reached out to a family member or friends for advice in your relationship and if so what was the advice you were seeking?

You guys are so amazing! Don't worry about what people are saying. They must be miserable in their own lives they project it to yours. Love that you are living your truth and living life to the fullest and unapologetically. Love you both from Tonga in the South Pacific ❤

Monday grub bag question: typing from not so sunny Norfolk, England 😁 What are your top 3 favourite places you have visited outside of the USA? p.s love you both ❤

I think Shane’s action figure should come with his laptop and warmies. Isn’t that what you called them? The snack food that was a childhood favorite? They were like little burrito-type things. Liz’s action figure would need to come with her phone so she could play candy crush. 😆

The easiest would be to have two fridges right next to each other and each couple buy their own food. I did this with a roommate and it worked out fabulously.

I’m a nurse working stressful 12 hour shifts while 35 weeks pregnant. I spent my one 30 minute lunch break watching your videos (which I often do!) and I’ve laughed out loud so many times. Thank you!

Any news about the accesibility on airplanes you guys were fighting for? Having SMA aswell and being on a ventilator makes sitting in a mechanical wheelchair and on the plane seat impossible, so I hope one day there will be proper accessible place on a plane.
