My mom used to be a teacher. Wildest story she told me was this: two girls on the trip hit it off with some local guys and went home with them. Unfortunately for the girls, the guys were super shady (i think they were dealing drugs) and the police choose just that day to raid their place. Girls end up getting arrested with everyone else. Took them some time for them to convince the cops that they only just met the guys and were not involved in any drug related business...

We are talking about an almost 4 hrs away from our home town. Two set of Parents were able to bail out their kids, but the other set of Parents let him sit in jail. Needless to say all 3 kids got expelled from School for their stupid stunt.

@25:00 please don’t hold the tongue (Or put anything in the mouth) or someone who is seizing or convulsing. Especially not your fingers. I know more than one person who has lost a finger or had one broken or mangled by someone having a seizure biting down. Don’t hold the person down either. Just keep them from hitting their head on surrounding objects (place something soft like a shirt under their head if they’re on concrete) and don’t let them fall off of something tall like a building, cliff, or stairwell.

I can recall three instances of unusual things happening at camps/school trips: 1) There's a weeklong overnight summer camp for pediatric cancer patients and survivors (as well as their siblings) that I've gone to as both a camper and counselor. During one of my early years as a counselor, some boy campers decided to use their Axe Body Spray cans to write on the cabin porches. 2) At a reunion event for this same camp (which was held at an arboretum), two girls went walking on one of the nature trails and nobody could find them, so we all started panicking until they eventually came back. Turns out, they couldn't be reached because the battery in the one cell phone they had died. 3) My younger sister told me a story from when she took a student ambassador trip (with several other students) several years ago. They were staying in an Italian hotel, and my sister and her roommates were in a second-floor room with a balcony. Apparently, just below the balcony were some mafiosi talking with the police, and one girl thought it would be a great idea to yell and try to get their attention.

18:30 So many left with mental trauma from that situation, I’m sure. So sad. Something similar happened to a sweet little boy I went to kindergarten with. As I heard it, he was getting off his school bus and went to run across the road to his house, and a car coming over a hill in the opposite direction didn’t see the bus in time and hit and killed him. I also heard his blind mother was waiting on the porch for him, and god, I hope that part wasn’t true.

I was a student on a middle school trip in the 70’s in Tennessee. I’m white but the school I went to was predominantly black. Well I guess when the hotel staff saw a bunch of children of color getting off the bus suddenly our reservations had been lost. I remember our teachers being really upset and us driving around that evening trying to find a place to take us. Instead of 2 kids per room we ended up with a half dozen in each room. RIP Mrs. Staten, my science teacher. 50 years later I remember her so well cause she made such an impact on my life.

Huge props to the biker that returned the student who was left behind! As for a crazy field trip story, my dad once told me a real doozy; he was in Boy Scouts of America as a kid, and one time his troop was camping in the Southwest next to a canyon. One boy, Michael Bieber, dropped his flashlight over the cliffside and it landed on a ledge. He attempted to jump onto the ledge and retrieve it, but instead missed the ledge entirely and fell down into the canyon to his death. Right in front of my dad and the rest of the troop.

High school choir trip to London stopped at a mall to use the bathroom 45 min before a performance, bathrooms are on the base level, girl in front of me goes down the escalator, and right at the end to teeth of the escalator grab the hem of her choir dress and pull it almost a foot into the machinery. Emergency stop gets pressed, and I end up calling my mom (wardrobe manager by trade) and asking how to get a dress out of an escalator, needless to say she was very confused. Ended up cutting the dress out, then I ended up kneeling of the floor of a random mall with craft scissors trying to fix the dress in time for the concert. Honestly it made us closer as a choir ❤😂

Probably 20 years ago when I was in high school, the band director told us a "school trip story". Can't remember where, but it was a very prominent event/city. At the hotel, night before the event. A kid is rehearsing with his violin, his mom/chaperone is nearby but not in sight, suddenly she hears the music stop with a very odd noise, a moment's silence and a disbelieving, horrified "...MOM?!?!!?" His bow had snapped. Just snapped clean in half, no prior damage, nothing. Something about vibration frequencies, just right, just then. Of course, the venue was able to help him out, but the band director told that to us as an example of the kind of things that can go wrong on "performance" trips.

I was a student. This was in middle school in the late 90s My class spent a week at science camp. Stayed in a room with five other girls and an older girl to keep an eye on us. Everything is going fine until the third day. A girl from the room next to us screams "It broke!" We hear an ambulance and EMTs. As they leave with one of the girls on a stretcher I ask one of her bunkmates what happened. They had been playing truth or dare. the girl on the stretcher got dared to put a hotdog into her hooha. When she tried to pull it out of her hooha it broke in half. The next morning the counselors gathered everyone and explained what happened in kid friendly terms. Some girl in the back screams "SHE GOT A HOTDOG STUCK IN HER VAGINA!" Still makes me laugh today thinking about that kid screaming that.

When I was a sophomore in highschool my entire grade went on a college field trip. Our group consisted of one particular kid that nobody really liked. He was the typical Obese white boy with long hair, played COD on Xbox and said the N word, plus he was just plain disrespectful to the staff. Anyways, about halfway into our trip we stopped to use the restroom. He walked in and all the urinals were in use. Well this kid decided it would be funny to jump right behind one kid and plant his feet on the urinal while he was doing his business. Well he does this, the kid peeing slams his head into the handle, and the urinal comes right off the wall. Both kids fall into the ground, getting their backs soaked in pee. Unfortunately I was using the urinal right next to him and it got all over my shoe.

For church camp we went to a KOA Indian reservation… they did not have blankets or bedding on the beds due to a policy that was inacted that day. One of the counselors has to grab small blankets, but because she has to buy them for 20+ kids they aren’t long enough to cover us up, and we did not get pillows. Combine that with the Native American show that wasn’t really age-appropriate (they literally showed a Native American being brutally shot hate-crime style at the end, hope you like that happy ending) and the spaghetti meat not being fully cooked, and it’s a miracle I ever slept at all that night. However, some tribe member did give me their Native American beads, and I got a couple cool things from a gift shop so it wasn’t all bad. Just 99% of it lol

On one school trip, there was a thief who broke into many of the rooms, stole stuff, destroyed stuff and made chaos. He was never caught. 🤷♀️ Luckily my stuff stayed untouched. On the same trip, a kid fell from the bed and his head started bleeding. Also on this trip on one day, we went to an exposition about history. But later, at another exposition, the guide said that the stuff that the guide before straight up told us lies. 🤷♀️ Those expositions were kinda wasted. And we had to play outdoor games, but it was all rainy and muddy and everyone fell into the mud. The restrooms were unhygienic. There was something weird brown on the wall which was probably sh*t, but I can’t really imagine real sh*t on walls… another person infected herself with something on the trip. And the heaters didn’t function and it was winter. Of course the food there was disgusting. Some people playing with the food and throwing it onto plates of other people didn’t make it better. Some of us got nightmares after the trip and nobody really liked it, including me. At onother class trip, it was summer and extremely hot, definetely more than 30 degrees celsius, we had to walk for hours in the heat. We carried water with us, but most of us had already drunk all their water after under an hour. It was awful because we weren’t even allowed to buy water (what is so wrong with buying water?!). Only one student got some water bought after he had almost passed out/ heat stroke. All the others still weren’t allowed to buy water. That was damn unfair. I absolutely don’t like class trips… whenever I have a class trip, it doesn’t end well. 😐

Late 90's and my grade fortunately got the great field trip of going to the beach. Unfortunately it was foggy/drizzling/and chilly the day of. As the day went on, the weather got better and we all had fun for the last hour or two. My crazy trouble making friend decided to make a pet of a little green crab 🦀 and put it in a Gatorade bottle with sand and sea water. He sat next to me and showed off his new "pet". I freaked out and moved seats. Sure enough other kids wanted to see the crab and passed the bottle around the bus secretly. It was going well until an idiot released is in the beat up school bus with seats so worn they had holes in them. The crab hid in the seat and snipped anyone who tried to get it out of its hiding place. The trip back home was humid and windows didn't open properly. We started feeling nausea from the odor of the now lost crab. Every kid either puked or threw punches at my genius friend 🙄

During a field trip to North Carolina, we went to a white water rafting place. We were split up into two gendered groups, one went to the zip line, while the other group went to the raft, and we’d switch whenever we were finished with the activities. Girls and their chaperones went on the rafts first, but after I did that and switched to/finished the zip line (the line was alphabetical order, and my first name starts with AB) our school got kicked out because all the boys jumped off the raft in a simulated water course that was definitely not meant for swimming, the water pressure of the rafts was supposed to simulate Olympic level ones, so could easily knock you out and drown you if you weren’t careful. Thankfully, as previously stated, I had already done the zip line, but I felt bad for the people who didn’t get to do it in my group, It was actually kind of fun to see the view of the forest and the surrounding mountains like that.

A few years before I went on that trip, they had an incident on the charter bus where a couple of girls lifted up their shirts and let a couple of boys touch their breasts. My group decided it would be more fun to visit literally every single gift shop in the park and dick around than to actually ride the rides/see the shows. They'd buy shit, then 20 minutes later they'd want to return whatever it was and buy something else while we were on the other side of the park from where they originally bought it. We also had to fill out a little work sheet as the "educational" portion of our trip and our worksheet was basically empty because we hardly did anything lol.

One of the worst things that had happened JUST BEFORE a school trip I was in. Back in the late 2010s, I was in a High School symphonic band, and it was my last year of high school. We had a charter bus booked to take us to the northern part of the province (I live in Canada, but I won't specify where) to perform at a few schools, and stay at motels in a couple of mountain towns. However, on the day we were supposed to leave, the driver of the charter bus FAILED to show up on time - the driver ended up arriving 90 minutes late. There was a few times the [now retired] band teacher/director had to call the bus company to ask for the driver's whereabouts. Firstly, the driver ended up in a city north of where we actually were, and then accidentally ended up at a soon-to-be-opened Catholic high school in our city. Said Catholic high school wasn't opened yet, and that school's principal had called the company to complain that the driver had caused damages to the school's parking lot and tore up their newly-seeded lawn. Our school was several blocks from the Catholic school, so the driver (according to additional complaints) sped down the main road and swerved around and was cutting off other vehicles. When the driver finally arrived, he ended up on the opposite side of the school where the rest of us where standing (in the student parking lot, as the band room was located to a nearest exist where we could haul out larger instrumental equipment), forcing him to drive around the acreage of land the school was on and enter the parking lot. When we finally were able to leave, the driver ends up overshooting a curb and causing tire damage. Because we were so late getting out of the damn parking lot, we were forced to cancel one of our performances (which thankfully was the only one that day). When we got to a small town in the north part of the province, all of us changed out of our concert blacks (We wore black clothing for performances) on our lunch break. Moments after we reassembled on the bus, the bus driver drives to the nearest tire shop, where the owner of the charter bus company had the original driver removed and replaced with a more competent, sane driver, and took the 1st driver home. We later learned in the following band practice after the trip that the first driver had some emotional crisis at home, which explained why he was so late coming to pick us up. As anyone with a modicum of driving experience would know, having negative emotions behind the wheel can easily impact one's driving. Instead of doing the professional, mature thing to call the employer, explain the situation and ask to find someone else to cover the shift, the first driver ends up committing to the trip anyway, allowing his frustrations to get the better of him and make several mistakes. The kicker? The first driver was a new hire at the company in question. We don't know what happened to the first driver after he was driven home; if he either got reprimanded or if he was fired. But that 'incident' was the least of our one of two worries on that trip... After that trip, our school got a call from the hotel accusing a few students of causing damages to bed sheets and disturbing other patrons. No, this is not what you think it is. I was accused of causing damages to the bed sheets in my assigned room; the two girls I was sharing a room with ratted me out for having purchased a bottle of soda pop, which I didn't open until AFTER I had checked out. This issue was causing me a lot of stress because I don't take well being accused of something I never did in the first place; even breaking down in tears conversations with the Vice Principal and the Band Director. The band director knew I was a well-behaved student and it's likely the housekeeping skipped my room and got the number wrong. As for the 'disturbing patrons' complaint, the band director noted he was woken up by some rowdy patrons who were returning to their rooms after the pubs closed for the night - and the complaint was directed to a quiet group of boys who mostly kept to themselves and played D&D. Needless to say, I don't think the band director went back to that motel..

My high school's tradition for graduating classes is an overnight trip to Disneyland, California. Our bus driver (we had chartered buses, thankfully) spent all day/night in the park instead of getting some sleep. On top of that, she never refilled the gas tank, so we got stuck at a stoplight maybe five minutes from the park for at least two hours. We ended up having to change drivers (and buses) halfway through the drive back because ours was such an irresponsible twit. We didn't get to the school until sunset, well after everyone else had already left.

Depends who you ask. You ask anyone else, I planned on going all Rambo at school with several stashes of guns, bombs, a bullet proof vest, nerve gas, a hit list and evidently killed one of the students. Ask me? I was just a guy who didn't fit in, was in great shape, didn't like sports, couldn't be intimidated, had no interest in the girls there cuz I was already in a relationship from where my dad lived, called people out on their crap (including and especially school board officials), I struggled academically no matter how hard I tried and I just wanted my intelligence to be reflected on paper. I really didn't like the people in that school because their stupidity was celebrated and I thought it was the dumbest thing. Seriously! You hold a stick of dynamite and what did you think I was gunna do!? I got punished for attacking a student because she brought a candle wrapped in dirty red construction paper and held a lighter to it. But all their claims? None of that happened. Kind of. They DID forge a hit list. They wrote it in cursive which to this day I still can't read or write and I'm told it had names of people I never met and didn't know. Police pulled me out of class and my first thought was "Oh God is my sister okay?" It was a town wide effort to get rid of me like I'll just disappear when I exit the school and totally not think about how they ruined my life for the next 12 years. Edit; Oh right! The student I "killed" Yeah he left the area before I got there cuz I came in like 2 weeks late and his family moved before my first day.

She went with her class on a the traditional "gira de estudios" ("study tour", I can't translate it bc English isn't my first language, my bad), essentially they take the class to a nice place for some vacations. First day, they arrived by bus, and guy's from my mom's class, sort of the class buffoon, decides to go swimming after lunch, and to the buoy marking the limit no less. Poor dude got cramps, drowned and died. So they got back on the morning of the next day (a 3 or 4 days bus ride!). With a casket on top of the bus.

During a week long break (im in a boarding school), me and some other kids didnt go home so our school took us to the mall two hours away to just shop n stuff. This is a very rare occasion. So I sat in the bus with a random 6th grader I didnt know and fell asleep. Wake up 3 hours later. Apparently they forgot me in the bus and the bus conductor did not have the phone number of any of the teachers, nor did the bus driver. So I just told them to take me to mall, waltzed into the food court only to get yelled at by the teacher. I explained my situation and she just told me off to be more careful. I was very confused but shrugged it off, ate with my friends and told them the wild story and from then on they double check kids and do headcount because of me.

My sister (around 13) was on an international school trip and on an overnight sleeper train. Their train was held up and robbed, but the school didn’t tell any of the parents what happened until after the trip, several weeks later. My mother nearly committed murder when she found out

High school class went on a trip to Washington DC. Trip went well, no major problems until it was discovered that 6 of the girls that went on the trip were pregnant. They had snuck out of their hotel rooms to meet their boyfriends and a group encounter ensued. In all 11 students were suspended and parents were pissed when it was discovered that a staff member knew about it and did nothing to stop it.

I'm really jealous of the kid who got to go to a different country. I was born and raised in a big city and the farthest away field trip we went on was 1 hour away.

Good vibe rest stop: I was in MCJROTC. We were on a field trip to an air base and we all got loaded into a C1-30. I ended up falling asleep during our flight to Canada and back. My SGMs threw a boot at me and couldn't stop laughing long enough to yell at me. I loved those guys so much lmao! Semper Fi you old bastards! I hope you guys are still knocking heads in the class room.

Toured a newspaper building/headquarters. The actual papers were printed in another area but we went to a place overlooking a sample printing press. A kid spit his glob of bubble gum. We weren’t given a free paper like the other classrooms did!

I got a black eye on a school trip one time in 5th grade. We were doing some sort of outdoor sport game thing, and I ran facefirst into another kid and his forehead went right into my eye. I was super embarrassed about it until it healed and always tried to keep it covered

The class under mine in high school got to go to Puerto Rico for a 2 week end of year trip. My entire class was PISSED because we didn’t have that option. But then their trip ended up being a nightmare lmao. They where stuck in the ATL airport for like 1 1/2 days and had to sleep in the terminal because of a storm. Then all of them got horribly sunburnt but one girl got SECOND DEGREE BURNS on her legs from the sun. (Didn’t know that was possible but that’s what I was told) so she had to go to the hospital and be in a wheelchair for the rest of the trip. Then one of the places they had rented to stay fell through so they had to figure something else out last minute. And then there where crazy rain storms most nights.

I wasn’t there because it was a freshman trip and I was a sophomore at the time and also had just transferred to the school but apparently the bus they rented was so trashed and condoms were found amongst the rubble however, it could be confirmed whether they were actually used. A ton got suspended. And there weren’t that many field trips after that.

Don't know if I'm just being skeptical here, but the story about the London school going to see Hamlet and witnessing a French kid fall from under the Millennium Bridge seems a bit fake. In the UK, our emergency number is 999. Not 911 - If the teacher is from London, and they're in London, why would OP say they were going to call 911? Maybe it was just a typo idk

I'm jealous of these people... my school did the 'every other grade will get to go' to save money, then the next year switched the grades going... When I was in 7th, only 6th and 8th were going. When I was in 8th, only 7th and ESL... I guess that's my horror story, no trips for me.

The sudden wanted to play. The kid probably looked no older than 8 to 7. I was good until one night well Othello, senior and the kid crashed into each other really bad dad said he was going to sue us for what happened to his kid until he saw what happened to the photo Senia I think they had to be taken to a hospital or something like that I don’t remember
