Great video, Dom. I think it's important for people to know their way around the engine bay because they WILL be in there. The 8N/8N3 was a very well engineered car and, if looked after correctly, are pretty much bullet proof. They are VERY complicated though and since the values are low now (due to over supply when new) cars that have had multiple owners are likely to have suffered neglect. And that neglect will mean stuff failing. You are spot on about hoses and pipes. Age means these are going to become an issue, even on a cherished example.
@TheParrottBros3 жыл бұрын
Nail on the head there, nearly all multi owner tt’s have been neglected something at some point. Mine is a prime example of this, they done just enough to get it through each mot by the looks of it. Having some knowledge is beneficial for sure, even if it’s just to have a quick check to see if all is well before a long trip etc. Overly complicated 100%!! But a very good fun car indeed ☺️

Dom, love your videos! Bought a one owner 2002 225 in the States a few weeks ago and am anxious to give it the TLC treatment. Your vast library of informative videos has helped me bide my time while I await better weather to reach New Hampshire to support working outside. Really looking forward to putting the Mk1 on the road as the albeit brief test drive was awesome, leaving me wanting more! It's exciting and painful pulling in the driveway, seeing this awesome car just sitting there screaming out to be driven! Come on April! Thanks for the outstanding videos!

Hey Stephen, thanks for the kind words. Sounds like you got a lovely little car, feel free to email me some pictures love seeing owners cars. Any help again just drop me an email. Do people rag their car and then turn it off? I always run mine off boost after a decent blast to let it cool down before I get home, or wherever, and turn it off..

Not everyone is a car person 😅 so they cater to all. Yeah I usually get within 2 roads of mine and then slow it down 👌🏻

Always let it cool down even if I've not been ragging it.. along with shell vpower! I've now got turbo timer so I can just bugger off mate!!😉
@Trig0r3 жыл бұрын
@@marcomesenti6989 Always been a bit wary of turbo timers, cars sat there not moving so heat is building up, at least with the coolant pump the engines not running its just circulating coolant..

What does the hockey puck actually do ive just replace mine had a look at it though it would work like a pcv valve but just seems free flowing
@TheParrottBros3 жыл бұрын
It’s a pressure regulator valve, allowing oily air to exit the engine and get put back into the intake system to be burnt in the engine
@leerose62573 жыл бұрын
@@TheParrottBros i no it puts air back but i though under pressure it should close to control air flow just seems like its a fancy 90. It would be interesting to see whats going on inside it

need some advice guys keep getting the dreaded low oil pressure warning light on my mk1 225 tt only comes on once engines up to temp only comes on when dropping revs under 2k and goes off once over 2k so far i have replaced oil with 10w 50w oil pressure sensor x2 oil pump pick up pipe and oil filter housing next step will be main bearings could a faulty dash cluster cause theses problems?
@TheParrottBros2 жыл бұрын
That’s quite thick oil! Oil viscosity could be the cause but It could be the oil pump on its way out or the clocks. But I wouldn’t say it’s the clocks if it does it at a specific time. I’m doing a video about that atm funnily enough. Got some great info in
