I bought the exact same coat he has except in grey back in 2013. Still fits, still wearing it, and it hasn't broken much, and my parents are very frustrated with it too. Sorry, it's just the most perfect coat ever.

I worked at Patagonia. So, the orange coat you wanted was sold out online but chances are you could find it if you call a store-any store, Boston, D.C., NYC, etc. The stores can check their databases and then ship you that orange coat (pending they have it) directly to you, just as if you ordered it online. The blue is great too. Just a helpful hint for the future.

First mistake was ever falling in love with a Uniqlo piece of clothing. I had the same obsession with a blue button up shirt from them - it was the perfect colour, it was comfortable, I wore it everywhere when travelling - but then after a year and a half it started to wear out, and then when I went back to buy another one they had gotten rid of the design 😭 The others were similar but NOT THE SAME

That always happens with clothes you like. You get something, love it to death, and when you try to get a new one that's exactly the same you find that the company stopped making them. This happens to me for everything, socks, pants, sports wear, you name it. That's why it's best to always buy two or more of the exact same clothing when you realize how much you love it.

​@@l30S3UX they also have resell option on their own shop to buy used. I've managed to buy Patagonia on Craigslist, ebay and found it in thrift store and very happy about each one of them. You might not get to chose your favorite color but I've been happy with all the colors I had. Plus on like cheaper alternative, Patagonia has a long lasting quality so you won't need to replace your jacket every season because it's made cheap. And sometime you do have to pay more to make sure that you are doing your part in to not filling up our landfill. It's disgusting how clothing fill our landfill (no buying new and giving your old unwanted clothing to donation doesn't solve the problem as they are overwhelmed, ship them to country that we, westerners, think would need and use them but no, we're simply making more footprint for them to burn it as they don't want most of them.

This video resonates me with so much. I have the same orange Uniqlo jacket. I love it. I must wear it almost 3 seasons of the year. I am very disappointed in the new uniqlo jacket styles myself. It's going to be hard to replace it when this jackets breaksdown.

I had a jacket/hoodie from hollister that was that special to me. I had no idea I was that in love with it until I lost it. I spent probably a year scouting eBay until I found someone that had TWO of that exact jacket. I bought them both and now I’m very happy.

Awesome series from Oslo -- I am moving there this Friday and so have been particularly enjoying these videos. Also, huge Patagonia fan here -- you can't go wrong with the Down Jacket! Forget about that OG orange puffy and treat yourself to an orange Down Hoody! Btw, the jacket that was out of stock is Patagonia's new Micro Puff, it's a great jacket for ultralight adventures but will not endure the rigors of constant traveling due to a very thin/low denier face fabric (the Nano Puff if the more resilient synthetic choice for everyday use). Happy trails!

Judging by the pictures for me what makes this coat so great is that it doesn't make one look like a puffed up potato! I swear in my whole life I haven't found one single down winter jacket that is aesthetically pleasing and flatters ones figure but this coat looks very good (at least on Johnny) and the colour looks gorgeous too so that's why it stands out for me.

I am 2 years late but I have the same obsession over a coat similar to yours but mine is grey and light to suit our warm weather here in South Africa. I had to alter the sleeves and put in new ones cos it was getting really bad. I bought it in 2012/13. I am thinking of sewing me a new one but there is this attachment to this one that I cant really shake. It fits me perfectly and I have so much confidence wearing it. It's kind of a cloak of armour and I loves it.

Such a simple video and yet I was totally all about the coat story! I've learned once I like an item of clothing, that I'm wearing all the time - quickly go back to the store and buy another. It feels excessive at the time, but sure enough, you're happy you got two of your fav shirt/pants or sweater. I do this with pants alot. God speed with the new blue + orange! Keep up the brand!

Patagonia is a better choice for many many reasons. Not only there are well designed and fashionable they are highly sustainable, made of recycled contain (maybe not all), they are give back to the community, they have a buy back resell used and they can repair your clothing. Their goal is not to sell sell sell making items that doesn't last, but rather would prefer that their customers buy a good gear to keep for long long time. I'm proud of my Patagonia and more when I can buy it second hand (either on there web site where the resell, ebay (they have/had an arrangement to for the warranty to be transferred if bough on ebay, I need to check that again) or a super find in thrift store). I'm not a brand person but this one I would gladly wear and make sure the brand is out for the world to see. Be proud of wearing ethical and sustainable clothing. :)

Woah, this is exactly like me. Back in 2018 I bought the same uniqlo puffy jacket but in red. It has become one of my most well loved and used articles of clothing. It's gone with me on backpacking trips, overseas vacations, and the casual trip to the grocery store. Started to become an actual part of my identity as well. Tried to buy a new one a year later, but Uniqlo doesn't make them as good as before. Still loving my red jacket to this day and it's got a few patches. I did splurge and get a red patagonia nano puff too... but doesnt look like they make the same color anymore. Uh oh.

I had a blue Uniqlo jacket that I wore every day while I was at university. I lost it the day of my graduation, and moved to India right after. Never got a replacement, but these things really are just perfect. I need to pick up a new one, but now that I'm in India there are no stores... Also the season doesn't last long enough to need one. Hopefully I visit some country with a Uniqlo store soon so I can get one. Maybe I stumble upon an orange one

A little late to this video but it inspired me to go get my red, down coat and apply an appropriate patch on it that I’ve been putting off. On my first big backpacking trip with it I burned a small hole in the right sleeve and left the makeshift patch kit repair on it since then.

Uniqlo still have it in orange. It is called ultra light down parka. They have it in orange. The new style is the "jacket" and that is red. that color is actually on sale for 30 dollars at the moment. The jackets are kind of a matte finish, the "parka" are more shiny/glossy. The parka is not really a parka, as it is not long enough. Just look up at the Uniqlo website and look for it.

This is basically how I feel about my blue nano puff Patagonia jacket. I got it $60 off from some French website after Christmas 2016 and have absolutely fallen in love. It’s so light but so warm, and the hood fits right to my face when I need it.

fun (maybe not) fact about Uniqlo down coat: They changes the designs and colours of this very particular coats every season. So every 6 months or so. Majority of japanese (and Asian) have these since they very versatile. So for anyone at Uniqlo trying to get you this coat. It's almost impossible if you dont know the exact season (and market region) of this jacket to find it ....... PS: i have 5 different version of these. ...

Eyyy i work (part time) at uniqlo in japan At least in japanese it is pronounced u ni kro ( u ni ku ro) basically a shortened ( Jp peeps love making these kind of short forms) version of unique clothing So its kinda funny to listen to native speakers saying japanese version of english words We still have that jacket here

I actually had the same experience with a green Hollister Parka coat. An amazing well made coat, bought another Hollister Parka coat in Maroon and it just wasn't the same. 😞. I feel your pain. Luckily I found another great coat by the make Jack Wills. Red and black XS fit and was only £30. (Was originally £150).

This would have been a great opportunity to discuss consumer responsibility when purchasing clothes! Who is manufacturing these coats? Is Patagonia labour working under better conditions than UNIQLO? Should that be part of the decision? And what about environmental impact? Are the fibers in these part of the decision? ... Would have been a great opportunity to bring these issues up Johnny... :(

At the 5:25 mark, I just had to laugh. I previously owned a blue Patagonia coat like you're wearing, and now own the orange one that you saw was sold out. Bright side, they always come up on sale at REI at least once a year, so I'm sure they'll make another. That shell is pretty sweet, though, so I think you've won out!
