What's Wrong with Being a Sensor? In "What's Wrong with Being a Sensor?", I tackle the issue of MBTI sensor bias and explore why sensors often face criticism within the MBTI community. This video delves into the common misconceptions about sensing types, the value they bring to the table, and why there's nothing wrong with being a sensor. Join me as I debunk myths and shed light on the strengths of sensing types.

I studied the MBTI and Cognitive Functions for 10 years (it was my passion project!) and there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a Sensor (and I say this as an INFP)! I love Sensors and love being around them! (One of my best friends is an ESTP!) Intuitives NEED Sensors. My dad is an ISFJ and I literally don't know what I would do without his practical guidance and steadfast support. Sensors are not 'dumber' or 'less cool' than Intuitives. We each offer something so unique. I think there are just so many mistyped and unhealthy people on the internet and especially Intuitives with a lot of pride and arrogance in their type that are insecure around Sensors. I've seen Sensors generally move through life with a lot of ease, grace, and confidence which I think is easy for us over-thinking Intutives to admire (and envy), but I've also seen Sensors cry, struggle, and beg for something more just like we all do. I think Intutives also suffer from being pseudo-intellectuals. So it's easier to pick on and make fun of Sensors for being 'shallow' and unable to get on an Intuitive's 'level'...when that isn't even true lol. I've seen such shallow stereotypes of Sensors (like ESTPs are always crazy, ESFJs are always baking, ISTJs are always unfeeling, etc) when these types have so much more depth and dynamic. ESTPs are actually extremely laid back when they're not in the spotlight or have something going on (I often say ESTPs have a Ti 'light switch' that they can turn on and off. I find that they're mostly using Ti unless a situation really calls for their Se to come out)! ESTPs are often honest, motivated, rational, and listen very closely to others when they're speaking. I have had the most fascinating, in-depth conversations with ESTPs like the idea that ESTPs are just hyper red-bull chugging meatheads is crazy. I'd say ESFPs are usually the ones who are always 'on' in terms of leaning towards that constant energy and outgoingness but ESTPs somehow got this reputation too when in my experience they're so laid back (in their natural environment). They're not constantly running around jumping off walls and trying to break stuff lol ESFJs too are often paraded as 'constantly people pleasing' when healthy ESFJs are often setting boundaries and are clear about their limits and schedules. They are some of my favorite people to be around. They are patient, encouraging, pull out value from others, professional, and organized. They have a work mode and an off-work mode that I love like ESFJs can get really serious and down to business but also give you the best emotional insight - that's something else no one talks about! ESFJs are extremely emotionally intelligent! Almost sometimes I think in rival to my type! They truly understand the human emotional condition SO well. And I absolutely hate the stereotype that ISTJs are always serious, cold and unfeeling. I know an ISTJ who's married and he couldn't be more romantic, doting and hilarious. He literally cracks me up. The humor of an ISTJ is so brutal and dry and uncompromising. He loves to laugh and has so many unique quirks - like ISTJs are really passionate about their hobbies and plans and that's something people constantly fail to mention about them is how much passion they can have. ISTJs are also really good feelers! (Fi is their third function!) ISTJs are so kind and caring and respectful to those they love. They're loyal too, like once they see you as a friend and you've earned their respect, they hold on to you and hold you accountable too! Anyway, forgive the ramble. I think there is this terrible misrepresentation that Sensors are incapable of depth or complex thought. They're not incapable of indulging in it, it just isn't always their 'favorite' thing to do. Like I have an INTP friend and we could talk for hours about absolute theoretical nonsense because it's something we love to do, but my dad (having inferior Ne) also genuinely loves to engage and listen to me when I talk about theoretical stuff and even offers his own. He doesn't do this often and talking to him is WAY different than talking to an intuitive, but Sensors are capable of so much insight and depth and knowledge that I think Intuitives might overlook. Sensors are plugged into the world while us Intuitives are always trying to edit or escape it. But there are so many things I admire about the Sensors and there is absolutely nothing wrong with being one! You should be so proud! I am so glad you posted this to hopefully encourage other Sensors too! As an Intuitive, I am so appreciative of you!

2pac being typed as an ENFJ instead of an ESFP (his true type) is the perfect example of intuitive bias. It’s like people think sensors can’t be brilliant too.

I took the test and got INFJ like everybody else. I thought I was an unique INFJ that liked fashion and combat sports and living in my body. I always felt more of a connection to ESTPs, for there recklessness, or even INFPs , for there dreamy like qaulities. Very opposite types, i know, but there descriptions always seemed more like me. Then i learn congnitive functions and was properly type as ISFP. Makes sense now but the descriptions online made ISFPs sound more like a hippie and laid back. But once i put my own bias aside and researched how ISFP process information and operate in the real world, it became obvious that that was my type. I wonder how many ISFPs are improperly type as INFPs. INFJs and INTJS. I bet some of the people online dont even realize they are sensors. Funny, they are out there hating on themselves without realizing it.

Exactly. They don’t even realize how dumb they sound because they are likely sensors themselves. And true those are all common mistyped for ISFPs I’ve noticed too.

@@mkingISTP yep, and because ISFPs are lead Fi... they will usually attach there identity to something without proper "Te" research because thats a blind spot for the type.. or they hold onto one piece of "Te" information as proof to justify there "Fi", so arguing is useless because they are not truly using "Te" or "Ti" in a deeper more expansive way to gather more infomation and be objective. Being an ISFP is dope but when we believe in something logic isnt important, just our ability to identify with the thing we believe in. Also ISFP's have Ni high on there stacking so they do use that function more than other sensors so descriptions of other intuitives can mirror certain personal experiences.

Being an infp myself I do not think intuitives are cooler than the other types I'd almost say the opposite from my point of view. I think intuitives lack balance in their cognitive functions even more so for NPs. Each personality type has its own strengths and weaknesses.

I have heard about MBTI testing before. I think I did a test a long time ago. They classified me as ENTJ Personality. So I am reading some of what it means. I have to admit that it's very accurate. Thanks for the upload.

If you’re an intuitive you won’t like a sensor in the beginning , because sensors intimidate intuitives , and the perception is that sensors accept and adopt societal beliefs and rules and intuitives don’t . Although that could be true , I don’t hate sensors anymore, and I grew to appreciate them. The notion from an intuitive is that if you’re a sensor you won’t distinguish reality from societal rules and belief systems.

A lot of it is because when someone has a function that’s lower on your stack as their dominant at first you only see the flaws and have problems imagining the benefits. I think we all do it until we start developing our lower functions

I prefer to separate the types into the 4 temperaments instead of just intuitive or sensor as sp's are way different to sj's as are nt's to nf's. Overall im lowkey jealous of sp swag as an infp and sj's keep the whole show running decently smoothly which i appreciate too.

Bro I was into Myers Briggs... then I looked into Carl Jung! And I'm also into Numerology but in the biblical sense. I'm a christian. I find personality types in the Myers Briggs as very very shallow.

They’re not shallow it’s just the way people explain them makes them seem shallow. Also once you get into cognitive functions it has a ton of depth. Depends on how much interest you have in learning about it

Carl jung taught me about "the anima & the animus" which is your combined experiences of the masculine & feminine force (your father and your mother relationship) that influences your behaviours. Which you seek to amend, unknowingly through humans. As well as "the shadow" which is things from your subconscious that you project onto others that you are unaware of. Just a few things that interest me more than cognitive functions. Cognitive functions are good though! But they are just one of many framework's to come up with an explanation of our inner worlds.
