I haven’t finished watching this, but any speaker of Spanish or any other Romance language will understand most of those words more readily than , say, get, rough, charm…

Who chose the words? What is the basis for their choice? Can you really gauge the extent of a person's vocabulary from such a small number of words, independent of their age and cultural background?

Got them all. I didn't think it was all that difficult.

I got them all right, but I didn't anticipate any of the correct answers. Eg I expected opprobrium rather than obloquy.

16 right. Yeah the last 3 hadn’t a clue. One of them I was torn between two quite similar answers.

Got humbled so hard here since I consider myself very good at English. I will be taking Latin courses next semester so maybe I’ll see an improvement!

As an italian, I had 14 correct. But then again, I have been living in Australia for 24 years, and English has gradually become my first language, whilst still retaining above average knowledge of Italian.

I think the people who are likely to watch this are likely already somewhat proficient. Granted I only got 14/20, however, I find it humbling that most people are not in the 1%. It would be interesting to see if the 1% would be able to do one with terms/ phrases of Gen Z/ alpha and if Gen Z/ alpha could equally pass both.

More difficult languages for an English speaker. There is some difference.

English is my second language. Unfortunately I had a 12/15. 3 words are Greek, and at least 2 are latin originated. For the rest I must improve my Netherlands 😂. English is a Germanic language with heavy infuence from Romanic Languages Latin originated) and some Greek.

発音というか話すだけなら日本語は簡単だと思います。 母音が５つしかないから。 多少発音を間違えても大抵の日本人は何を言わんとしているか判ります。
