I don’t have a favorite photo of the summer but I do have a favorite day. I had an hour or two to shoot before work so I went to my favorite spot in the central east side in Portland where I live. The photo gods were with me that day. Great light, great people. Everything just clicked that day. Those are the days that keep me coming back to the street. Thanks for doing what you do, Paulie!

Like button “smashed!” I have generally thought of the Tuesday after Labor Day as being the time of year to start going to the beach. It is hotter, down here. Largely due to the “heat dome” over SE Texas for so long, with so many days of 100+ F temperatures, most of my summer images have been close-range and macro shots of insects attracted to intentionally-placed UV lights, using 60mm and 200mm Micro-Nikkor lenses on a Nikon D5 camera. July 2023 was “Moth Month,” an officially-sanctioned species count. My Leica M equipment has mostly been resting, this summer, except for some mundane test shots, to test the flare resistance of my newly-added Voigtlander 50mm APO Lanthar VM. My funniest image, with people as the subjects, is a group shot, in which my wife forgot to switch-off her head-band-mounted LED light, a faux pas which I failed to notice, before taking the shot.
