@ Supprised no am shocked well these platforms are perfect for making any statement!! 1) How much do we as Africans owe the west let’s say until 10 years ago?? and what have we got to show for it? 2) How much has Europe or the West stolen from us?? Including the Human Resource (Slave trade) which was the motor for development! 3) During the struggle for liberation (from Europe and America) who stood with us??? If you are Black like i am you are only able to air your view’s because of the sacrifices of Russia and the Chinese!! By the way non of them had a colony or military bases in other countries!! The ascendency of a new administration in The United States is inconsequential in the face of the broad inefficacy of African governance. Opportunities will only be unlocked if Africa mends it's leadership issues. Countries such as Botswana are leading the way in terms of the credibility of government but the rest of the continent needs to catch up. With excellent leaders African countries will be able to unite in a historic union whose 1.4 billion people can wield potent weight in global trade (united bargaining power), diplomacy and cultural influence. Without that unity Africa will remain a patchy loose alliance of free democracies, cruel dictatorships and fence-sitting impotent semi-nation-states of questionable quality. To have any meaningful place in the world Africa needs clean, sophisticated and visionary representatives at the table. Leaders who will not squander the present opportunities to contribute to the success of human society.

*THE ILLITERATE CONTINENT* In Africa we glorify illiteracy up to PHD level. Otherwise Africa could have done things better and differently. Why is it that Africa does not have nuclear weapons. How come that the biggest industry in Africa is religion, something which was long dead in the last century on other continents! Why is it that Africa is not making planes or cars. Why is Africa importing second hand clothes and other things, that if we did not import them they could be thrown to the garbage bins. Worse still we are proud of imported things, imported education and Imported stupidity called Democracy. How come that illiterate politicians and those connected with them are the only overpaid people not only in Africa but in the whole world. How come it's only in Africa where foreigners own major enterprises and have their armies stationed within to protect their interests, in Congo, Kenya, Botswana and many other countries. Africans are stupidly made to believe in PRIVATIZATION, which is an open theft of public resources. Africa still remains the only illiterate continent, otherwise we could have industrized making cars, trains, aeroplanes and space rockets.

I’m afraid we will see a heightened sense of division, class warfare, and existential environmental crises among the countries that do as they have since post-independence. If leaders don’t get their act together, start getting concerned about the legacies they leave behind and do the right thing with funding they get, only a few people will continue to receive the benefits from what comes from ANY alliance.

Democracy and human rights, as said , are the values of the United States, highlighting them in the US's Africa policy doesn't undermine the US interests in Africa. Anyone who really knows Africa wouldn't say that highlighting these issues is counterproductive. Having said that, Africa is 54 nations, millions and millions of souls, cultures, etc. In this perspective, one thing is the issue of democracy and human rights, and one thing is the issue of gay rights. Culturally, it is clearly negatively connoted , this is why the religious leaders in Africa were the ones who have clearly expressed their opposition. The US can defend its interests in Africa without the idea that in highlighting the issues of democracy and human rights, there will be negative effects. Only a tyranny can fear such an approach. But for the sake of a healthy bridge towards the peoples and for the perspective of a long-term vision, highlighting the issues of human rights and democracy in an atmospheric consistency and coherence, it will enhance the positive perception of the leadership dimension of the US.
