Lol.. "sometimes villages will let you use a normal outlet". My village code enforcement says no.. ha!

Yeah I know. Not that I want to tell anybody to deviate, however I always tell my customers “if this was my house” I would remove the GFI and install a standard 15 amp outlet, as well as a battery back up sump pump as an added layer of security. 😉😉

If the basement or whatever you call it is FULLY submerged by a backup and primary sump pump failure, wouldn’t the circuit breakers fail to?

If you mean, the basement is completely underwater all the way up to the first floor then the circuit breaker should trip however, sometimes one off scenarios can happen. In a case like that you’ll want to get a professional contractor involved.
