I was wanting a break from portrait practice sessions the other day and remembered a tiktok that i had watched earlier that day with my s/o. It was a tiktok featuring an older woman who was talking about the urn she picked out for herself, and she casually said "I yearn for the urn". I thought that was so funny that i had to immortalize that quote on a small canvas and now its hanging in our bathroom. My point being inspiration can come from anywhere and not all art needs to be serious! Make some art just to have fun when you dont know what to draw 😊
@Muffinschaos5 ай бұрын
I love the “not all art has to be serious” because most of my art is just me being silly and drawing like fifteen cats. It’s nice to just make dumb art, because the dumbness makes drawing it really fun and almost gives more motivation to draw because you’re having fun.

You’re absolutely right. I do get like that, where I feel like everything I do needs to be a masterpiece. Sometimes I forget the other things I draw do matter and it is practice. It’s when I do actually draw something big and see the improvement that I know it wasn’t for nothing. Thanks for the reminder Scott! 😊

You’re always giving us such wonderful advice. I wish I had this problem, but unfortunately I have the exact opposite problem where I have too many things I want to draw and I’m always wanting to push my skills to the next level, but unfortunately I don’t always have the spoons or the focus to do it. Right now I’m working on a new drawing of Spyro, and I really want to play with colors and lighting effects, adding a more detailed background to make it a full piece, and I’m really excited but also having difficulty focusing enough to do more

Honestly? Don't focus on just one, then. I have tons of half done sketches because when I don't know what to draw, I can revisit them, and a lot of times it helps me focus on things like anatomy or composition, bc past me already figured out what she wanted to draw, she just didn't have the time or energy to finish it.

I've been wanting to draw my favorite musicians and actors for so long, yet i never wanted to try because im afraid it will look terrible. Im not a portrait artist, im a cartoonist with a silly artstyle, so drawing real people has always been a challenge. Ever since ive made an art account, ive had so much pressure on my art, telling myself that my art has to be worthy of being posted. But ill try to remember what you said, that all my drawings dont have to be a masterpiece. I love your content and your beautiful art works! Youve inspired me to draw more and experiment more. My art has gotten so much better because of you. Thank you!
