Castle tee casualty! I use FREAKING LONG 2 3/4" wooden (or plastic) tees and I'm a high hdcp. I'd always setup high and hit the hell out of the ball. People I played with teased me , "Why so high?" I started to second guess myself. I didn't know why I was doing it but it was working. I started changing things, my swing, grip, tee height etc. It got so bad I didn't just leave the driver in the bag or car, I left it at home. I'm back to teeing it high and my drives are coming back to being straight and long (for me) . Oh, I break every wood tee.

I use a pink castle because i feel it helps me to hit the driver on the up. Regarding your slight loss in yardage, when I first watch you a couple years ago, you seemed to be swinging a lot flatter> id that right?

Used an orange castle tee with my old driver but have had to change to a pink castle with my new one as it's not as tall in the face so tended to roof it off what was my previous usual tee height, now figuring how to adjust to keep hitting up on the ball is the next task, always having something to work on is what keeps golf so engaging for me :)

I've been using the yellow tees for years, but after your video on the castle tees, I ordered some. Played one round with them so far and I'm fairly pleased. I found some orange plastic ones rather than the pink... I'll play them for a while and form a solid opinion.

I use Consistent Tee, it is a 3.25" plastic tee with a stop guide that leaves 1.57" of the tee above ground. With my delivery with my 460 cc driver it makes my strike consistently high center of the face which is right where I want it. Most durable tee I have ever used. No breaking and if I strike the shot correctly it falls back behind on target line making it easy to find. You should try them.

I have two tee heights in my bag. My standard 2.75 in for 90% of usage including 3 wood and hybrid/5wood. Just push it in further. Find that, that length works for me most of the time with 460CC drivers. I also have some 3.25 ones for those odd occasions where the t box grass is long and shaggy causing the shorter tee to be slightly too short to sit where I want it because the grass is too long or the ground is too soft and it keeps falling over with the shorter T. I don't hover either, which I tend to think that those that hover prefer a shorter T based on what I've observed. Good Vid James!! Keep it going.

I buy & use the yellow length wooden tees. Last winter I played a course that had mats on each tee & found the wooden tees were too high as the mats wouldn’t take all the tee to my usual height. I used a pink castle tee which my mate gave me & initially thought it was too low & I wasn’t confident using it. I’m not a castle tee hater but have always used wooden tees, each to their own I say! However the drives were better & more consistent both in length & straightness. I still use the wooden tees but now tee them down slightly lower resulting in longer straighter shots most of the time! Very good video James & interesting results, shows that players need to experiment & not rely on what they think is right or as in my case what they’ve been told was right. 👍

Use pink castle tee for the driver to try and be as consistent as I can. Use the short red castle tee for hybrid and long irons and use any tee fully inserted for 7 iron thru 9iron. Tried wooden tees with yellow band and I was more erratic and inconsistent off the tee than ever before

I use blue tee pegs but I tee them down to normal height. I just like the extra length. Makes me feel more confident that the tee will stay in the ground and the ball on the tee. 😝 It also gives me the ability to tee it up or down when I want to change my launch angle or shot shape a little. Driver is the best part of my game...and subtle adjustments to tee height for given shots are my secret sauce!

James I think this is all down to how you launch the golf ball. If you dont hit up on the ball as much then a shorter tee is what you need whilst if you hit way up on the ball then you need a longer tee to hit the middle of the club.

Two years ago I went 3-1/4 inch (ProLength Plus Tee) so I could hit up and stay behind the ball more. I was doing too much so now I am back to 2-3/4 Inch bamboo tees that hardly break. When I was using ProLength Plus Tees they would break a lot but I loved them.

I use the Zoomtech Tees, there's some nonsense about the aerodynamic airflow around the tee, but what I do like about them is they're indestructible, consistent height, and easy to find if you knock them out of the ground, a single one can last me months.

Learn to use finger thickness to set tee heights. For example, I grasp the ball and use just the thickness of my fingers atop the grass to set my hybrid height. Add a couple fingers for driver. This way you can use long, cheap wooden tees to set the ball height for any club.

Gr8 vid James, I use a long tee but vary the height using different fingers touching the ground while inserting the tee with the ball. I tee it up lower into the wind and tee it up higher playing downwind, Normal shots I use my ring finger for a length gauge. Seems to work for me.

Realised today at the range how annoying Mat tees are and how often you can’t find one the right size. I had a look on google for adjustable driving mat tees and a variety of options came up such as height adjustable ones and ones that hold wooden or castle tees. I’m wondering James if you have tested any of these or if anyone else has? Thanks for all the great videos too James love watching your content daily 👊🏻

2 " wooden peg height gauged by lining up on the finger crease. Also, as you've commented James, I've also lost some distance from the beginning of the season....in my case it may have something to do with 'bulge & roll',... showing up in my golf shirt. Playing for a pint win or loose. Cheers

Interesting video James. I have to be honest and say I never have really worried about the length of the tee. I tend to buy medium to long tees and then I actually set the height based on the ball height to the club face with the club lying on the ground behind the ball. I generally have it with about 1/4 of the ball above the height of the driver face. This seems to work the best for me. Allows me to be consistent regardless of the tee I'm using.

I use a wooden tee and the height is set by the length of my thumb as I put it into the ground. The main reason I use wooden tees over castle tees is so that when I inevitably snap their heads off I can use it as an iron tee when I want one.

I used to use the 2 3/4 yellow tee but wasn't always having the same height. So I now use the white castle tee and now I'm sure the ball is always at the same height. I also bought 5 rubber tube tees like they have at the Driving Range and have cut that (with the thickness of the hitting carpet at the DR in the measurement) to exactly the same height. So wherever I'm at the course or the D.R my tee height is exactly the same! I can be smart sometimes lol

It makes sense that the low tee had lower spin, it would be the one tee that you tended to hit with a flatter swing with the ball hitting higher on the face. The Loooooong tee would have your hits swinging up and hitting lower on the face. I need to try some of those castle tee's though.

Don't underestimate the value of those extra-long tees. At times of the year where the tee box may not be perfectly manicured, or the ground may be a little soft, the long tee is perfect for insuring that weight of the ball won't cause the tee to lean over and "drop" the ball. The middle tee will work fine on firm turf, but all my tees are marked for the same height, with a Sharpie as how far they are pushed into the ground.

(not gonna replace these when they are gone.) 2 3/4" tee's the majority of the time. 2 1/4" tee's for par 3 iron drives. (I like the get the ball off the ground about 1/2" or so) I have 2 3/4" "low drag" plastic tee's, but I don't really like them. When they are gone, I'm not buying any more....... Hi James interesting video, as for my tee heights I do adjust the height depending on wind and the shape of the hole, when it’s downwind I tee it up higher as a rule too get it higher and let the wind carry it further, against the wind and if I don’t want too go left on that particular hole I’ll tee it down maybe not as low as the red tee a tad higher and I find I get a lower ball flight and if anything it will end up on the right side of the fairway or just in the semi rough. I suppose a lot depends on how your swinging the club that day but I do find when I tee it higher I do get too much spin and very little roll , with the tee lower it might not carry as far but it will run out further and it definitely doesn’t go left and on my home course I try too keep away from the left side of the course and generally it does work all be it not all the time, it’s definitely the strike that will always decide how good of a shot I hit. I also believe it’s a confidence thing on what height people use with there drivers.

Note for new Video. Short T with more loft on your driver. Rather than trying to help it up try more loft with the shorter T. Use the Sorter T which you've proven for you is more consistent. Maybe more loft gets you a few more yards and a little more height with the same consistency. Add loft to current driver, then maybe try it with a 10.5 head?

I started doing that in order to force myself to keep my head down and swing through. It worked well for me.........so it stays. I've tried the taller tees...........nope, nada, zip. My guide is to have the top line of the club meet the center of the ball sitting on the tee. If it's windy..........it goes lower. Nuff said.

I use maxfli plastic tees. Not castle tees but same shape as wooden tees but plastic. They have 3 lines for all the different heights and they dont break. One box as lasted me 2 seasons and they are only $9.99 USD.

For me, I use castle tees ( pink for driver, small green/orange for hybrid, red for irons and, strangely, yellow medium plastic traditional for my 3w) - weird! 😵 . I used to struggle to get consistent depth with the traditional tees.

I use the blue 3 and a quarter with my driver ,seem to hit my best drives with driver . For some reason don't feel comfortable hitting with a shorter tee .70 years old and need all the help I can get .

Pride Tees also make a 4" tee btw. I have used the 4" tee in the past and I am playing the 3 1/4" pride tee in plastic. Just played a round 2 days ago with 2 tees. The 3 1/4" tee and a 1 1/2". Love your videos.

Low friction tee...tee it high and let it fly. 3 1/4"+ Used the same pink one for 4 years until it finally broke.

I use wood tees at either 2 3/4 or 3 1/4. I use the longer tee when the tee ground is soft.
