You for got to mention play the game called Gay Chicken. My favorite was watching the marines put their play carriers on. Then have one run at the guy with the plate carrier and perform a flying chest kick like Billy Jack in the Billy Jack movies. Then there was the time we tried to recon the nurses sun bathing area. They were not supposed to lay out in the sun with a bikini on so we has to gather intelligence on this possible code violation. Sadly, we never,ever, never found any rules violations.

During Operation Drunken Storm.. we took up a wedge formation.. and drank our way across Europe. Spanish cognac. French Champaign. Irish whisky. Italian wine. German beer. Russian vodka and more. I spent too much time at the strip clubs. I got in a little jam for showing up to formation.. with glitter all over my face.

Sometimes free time was interrupted by incoming Mortar Rounds, RPGs and going to the Bunker, otherwise DVDs!!!

I was a Liberty. DFAC for Mongolian BBQ was the best! The little pallets with water was gold. Went to the gym because we were bored. Went out on mission into Baghdad, went through the Green Zone (Prosperity) had a pretty good Chow Hall if you've been there? Went to Iraq Police Station to "Train them". One day the Iraqi Police at the Station started arguing with the Iraqi Army. We were 20 feet away, and not one person was shot... Then usually we would drive on Black roads to get back for lunch chow.

If your chain of command is really awesome you will get to spend your time twiddling your thumbs in your office till at least 1900. If your 1sg and most of your 7’s haven’t deployed before good luck on that free time I mean hip pocket training till 1700 every day getting to do pt was a treat!

This was before a lot of today's technology. we played a lot of card games, wrote letters, had talent shows, a little catch with the football in the sand. On Christmas someone dressed as Santa, we talked to the Chaplin and prayed and sang. Someone shipped in beers disguised as crates of shampoo. we peed in urinals with a picture of Saddam in them, we constantly practiced cleaning our guns blind folded even for fun. We watched a lot of VCR movies when we could and got a good meal when we could. Sometimes when we did get porno mags we went our separate ways. The women that were at Eskan were awesome and real friends and soldiers. The welcome home was awesome. Now that I'm older I often think about it as a great time even though there was difficulty and we did see some horrors. Thanks for what you do.

My time was mostly spent in the gym. Still wish I had kept some of the AFES "change" from my deployment. Also, how often do you go live? I was able to catch one last week for the first time and enjoyed it
