I grew up in a Church that is now considered a "mega-church", and I choose to only attend smaller churches now. In my current church, there is so much fellowship, love, and sharing of the Gospel. Additionally, the church body also has numerous ministry opportunities in giving our time to others such as: helping the poor directly by partnering with a local Christian Food Bank where we can volunteer to feed and fellowship with the homeless. We assist anyone who struggles to find employment, and more. It is a wonderful feeling to give back, and to do as God commands us to do.

@boogotti1173 do you recall that Jesus Christ saved a woman from being stoned to death for committing adultery? Why would He do that if there shouldn't be a balance between mercy and justice? I get what you're trying to say but as much as someone can be too lenient about sin, you can also be too harsh about it too. Jesus Christ sat in the company of society's "outcasts" and "sinners". He helped a lot of people that society deemed "unworthy" at the time. You know who He didn't spend much time with? Those who unjustly and unfairly passed judgement on others. He rarely gave them the time of day, except to correct them. Jesus Christ makes it clear that we need to repent of sin. He also makes it very clear that He loves us. If you cannot make it clear that you want people to repent AND that you love them, you are not acting as a good example of Jesus Christ. You need both in order to encourage and inspire REAL change in others. You can hardly beat and batter others with words to force them into change. Good luck just telling them they are sinners and are going to hell.

@sunnydaze1185
@sunnydaze1185 2 ай бұрын
@@josephcernansky1794 Of course not. to become saved we "obey" God by believing on the Son. If we are doing something to help him save us, then we are literally elevating ourselves to be equal with Him. He is God manifested in the flesh. He did the deeds of living a perfect, sinless life and dying on the cross to atone for our sin debt. Then said, It is finished. We trust that he says he is who he says he is, and in what he did. We receive the holy spirit. Then we "work" to follow him obeying his ways and not sinning (shouldn't have the desire to sin and behave the same way as before). We will never be perfect though(hence why we need Jesus imputed righteousness). Of most importance in our being a servant of his is spreading the gospel.

Christ told the rich young ruler to sell all he had because it was a barrier to him being able to see and understand. It's not money itself that's evil or bad it's the love of it that's idolatry. Money is just a tool to get through this world and having a lot is a good thing if your priorities are right. Wished there were a lot more rich Christians because they know what money is for. It's for the preservation of your house and to be charitable with so that even G_D's enemies will praise Him because of you especially when they are in need. Who knows maybe even win some for His glory. Money takes a certain wisdom that I wished Christians had more of. It's stewardship. If your called to be generous then be generous. Nothing is lost when done for the Lord.

@sidwhiting665 2 ай бұрын
He was making a point about proportion, obviously. Yes, one poor person can cooks a little extra and maybe feed 1-2 other poor people, but not much more than that and not for very long. Plus, in American anymore there really isn't any such thing as "poor people" unless you're on drugs or have a mental illness: anyone willing to live by a very simple set of expectations like don't do drugs and be a decent person can find food, shelter, clothing, and utilities: all the basics are covered. And have you noticed a lot of "poor people" in the USA aren't exactly skinny? Many are obese because they spend their food stamps on highly processed food and easy to fix stuff that has little nutritional value but tons of calories. It's hard to argue that there's a starvation problem in the USA, even with so-called "food deserts" which really just means you might have to travel 5 miles to get fresh food. Oh the horror! Our ancestors who walked 20 miles a day thought nothing of it, but today it's a violation of your Constitutional Rights if someone doesn't deposit fresh fruit and veggies on your door step.... anyway, rant over. The point is Dave's talking about feeding hundreds and thousands of people in countries where people literally starve to death if no rich person steps in. The poor aren't sending $10,000 a month to a town in the Philippine to feed 500 people.

Job was the wealthiest man in the region. In Acts, the believers met in each other's houses, showing that they owned houses. Some sold them, but most evidently did not, and they used those houses as a blessing. In Proverbs 13:22, "a good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children," which means he's wealthy - and is called a "good" man. Wealth is wrong only when it becomes an idol and is more important to you than serving God and others. Using wealth to support missions, give to others, etc. is something we see in the Bible as a good thing.

It's a parable about using the gifts (talents) that GOD gives us.... Not about investing money. That's why it used the word "talents" and not "money". But carnally minded people will hear "money" in this scripture because that's where their mind is. "Where your treasure is their will your heart be also" (Mat 6:21). For to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Rom 8:6-8). The parable about the master, the servants and the talents was about bearing fruit using the gifts (talents) that GOD gives us and those who use their gifts (talents)and bear fruit, GOD will give those servants more. But to those who don't use their gift/gifts (talents) but make excuses as to why they didn't use them, GOD will take their gifts (talents) away.

Think the ‘talents’ in this parable can represent the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You mention path, it literally says the word of the Lord is a lamp onto my feet, and a light unto my path. Then you see in John one Jesus is the Word made flesh, BUT in John 14 he says it’s better that he goes to heaven to be our advocate before the father so the Holy Spirit can be the one who enlightened us inside us. That said, do not neglect the gathering with other believers, that is something Scripture says, yes we are to pray that the Holy Spirit in lightens us to the scripture and we don’t have to believe everything everyone says, but we do have to keep being iron to others sharpening them and letting them sharpen us. Keep in physical community, even Jesus came in the flesh and lived among us. We can handle being among all types of people seeking God too.

God does not give a damn if you give 10% of your money to a scam artist. No matter how much money you have, you leave it all when you die. Since camels were heavily loaded with goods and riders, they would need to be un-loaded in order to pass through the gateway of the city aka the eye of a needle. People misinterpret the “camel through the eye of a needle” verse all the time. It really has nothing to do with money and everything to do with status. The Jews of Jesus’ time believed that if you were rich, God was looking favorably on you as a person. The result was that the rich held their status in such high regard that they became prideful and arrogant to the less fortunate around them. It takes humility and repentance to reach heaven. Those who are filled with pride won’t make it there, because they’ll be too invested in themselves to repent for their faults.

He showed me exactly what Ramsey said, how can you help around you if you don't have the money to even help yourself? I had a friend who had no money, but she needed money to pay for her mama's funeral. I went into debt for her because I wanted to help her. And that was a clicking moment. I wasn't free to help anyone because I was a slave to money. Not because I had so much money, but because I had none of it. So many other clicking moments. Recently heard a podcast of a young man who grew up in the slums in London and now is a millionaire through effort, commitment and dedication. But something he said left me in awe; “I wasn’t looking to be rich, I just didn’t want to be poor.” Obviously, following Jesus is following His ways according to His gospel, but the intentions of the heart is something God always looks at.

How come none of the Christians ever pick up on the parable where Jesus talks about investing what the Master has given them? Those who are good stewards are given the talents of the ones who aren't good stewards. Remember, the one who didn't invest the masters money. It was taken away and given to the one who did

The last servant even admits that he knows the master takes from other fields that aren't his, and the master doesn't even deny it. The master further says it would've been better to have earned interest on the one talent at a bank. I always find it wild to see the language Jesus uses to describe God, but in this case, I think it makes the point that, ironically, it's the greedy and wicked that can more readily understand how God is because they do the same thing, except with money instead of grace.

As a pastor and Bible teacher of 35 years, I know from experience that the poverty gospel is as real as the prosperity gospel. Not as popular as you can imagine, but real and wrong nonetheless. Also; curses is another harmful doctrine.

what do you think about the rich tv pastors like Joel Osteen with a networth of 100 million and kenneth copeland with networth of 300 million dollars? I think they set a bad example for us. At a certain point, how much money do you need? If I were them, I would help the poor every single day

@@cutehumor How do you know that Joel and Kenneth AREN'T helping the poor? Are you in charge of their finances in order to know for a fact they don't? Or do you (like so many others) go by what people online say about them in order to form your opinions? I don't run their finances, and I can't say one way or the other, but that's the thing...none of us here (most likely) run their finances either to be able to say that they are either stingy or generous.

This is a great video. Where I'm still confused is about how we determine where the line between the the love of money and having greed with wealth lies. Because technically we could all "provide" for ourselves and our families on less than many of us spend, but let's be real, we mostly all like to have some niceties, live in the nicest area we can afford, and have sooome toys. Yet it could be argued that there's still a surplus there that could be used to help the poor. Not saying I want to be a monk and have just the bare essentials or that we should all move to poorer areas to have more money freed up to give, but still having a hard time feeling like I can buy things/do these things with a totally clear conscious.

I think the line can be drawn at Loving God. If you love God you will follow him. If you love money you will sacrifice and do anything for it, which would make it your god. If you will give up your morals, not take care of your family, and do anything unethical to get money then you Def love it. My thoughts.
@jamisojo

You can't provide for your family for the rest of their lives if you don't have great wealth saved up and at least somewhat disciplined spending. Buying things with the intent to show people that you are wealthy would have nothing to do with taking care of your family. That may not cover everything but that's a good start to a boundary. The wealth is important because you can't take care of your family if you become disabled or you die early and end up not being able to work.
