Agreed, it was such a nice, unusually wholesome moment for Stan and his gramps!! That is, up until the mild dementia kicked in and his next words to Stan were, “BTW, that bolo tie you’re wearing? It looks f***ing g*y as hell!! You should stop wearing it!!” 😂😂😂. THE SAME bolo tie that he himself bought as a gift for Stan, which was the only reason he was wearing it to visit him in the first place! That was hands down the main joke they were building up throughout the whole episode beginning with Cartman saying those exact words to Stan. Those are the best jokes they setup because when you finally get to the punchline, it all hits you off guard like a brick wall!!

Because the writers actually put some effort in their writing, unlike some other shows like family guy. The creators of the show want to show the world for what it truly is, rather than just picking one side and be biased (like family guy). Family guy is extremely biased towards the liberal point of view. They always present the conservatives as a bunch of bigoted intolerant retards and liberals as bunch of tolerant and rational individuals. On top of that it has some of the most lazy writing I have ever seen with jokes that aren't funny and many of the points they try to make are either terrible or biased. South Park on the other hand shows that liberals can be just as bigoted and intolerant as conservatives and manage to make really good and unbiased points while being really funny at the same time.

I would just point to correct that supply and demand are not a theory of value, but of prices. Price and value are two different things. For example, the Monalisa has a price to be paid, but a inestimable historical and cultural value. I think you were thinking about the marginal theory of value, the other theory is the work value theory.

Looking at the work that goes into production of a good is actually the deeper analysis of pricing rather than relying solely on supply and demand. If you don't look at the work side, you can't determine if work is undervalued, which is a major problem with the current economy that many economists don't account for.

A problem with South Park's critique on small business owners is that it ignores the power large corporations hold. We support small business owners because they're marginalized, although they definitely have their flaws. When we allow corporations to just rampantly expand, we give them too much power. They are able to displace people from their homes, they are able to drastically influence the government, they are able to ignore the environment for the pursuit of profit, they are able to dictate the price at the expense of the workers, we run out of other options, etc. If small business owners do something similar, they should definitely be criticized but the damage they do is much smaller than corporations.

this also helps explain why new cars drop so much in value and also why other exotic cars hold far more more value. their real costs aren't too much more expensive to make than regular cars, yet the cost is exasperatedly more expensive to purchase. The real reason they cost much more is because they create far more enjoyment than others. Most materialistic things aren't worth what you pay for....except for video games, some games really are better than others for the same price.

When you mentioned the labour theory of value you did not talk about Marx. I am disappointed.

Jen Lucille That's actually true, Marxism and Cancer are pretty similar in the way that they are both inevitable.

Jen Lucille Cancer or no, his work is worth discussing. Every approach has its merits (well, almost every approach). Marx had some good ideas, even if his system might not work as a whole. Besides that, his work was very influential. It inspired communism, which is a bastardization and warping of what he wrote. Communism has been the framework of two major world powers. Learning more about what he wrote isn't bad, especially if there's no opinion given by the person doing the explanations.
