@@Long-Horse Considering foden hasn't been played in his correct position, at least foden leaving and going back to England for family matters will force southgate to start Gordon on the left. As long as Gordon has a great game and effect the game in a positive way with perhaps a assist or something like that, he could hold onto that position solving 1 problem. If that happens and foden does come back it could force southgate into a situation where he cant drop Gordon, so he might actually have to use foden in his favourite position, or use both Bellingham and Foden as rotation players. It could also force southgate to use Bellingham alongside rice, which would free up the 10 position for foden and palmer. If foden doesnt come back, then we still have Bellingham who could actually start playing well or palmer, who might be given a chance as a 10. Foden leaving could actually accidentally fix England and force sothgate to make the right decisions. England might actually start to play at their level.

At club level big teams DCM show for the ball even with a player on their back, the keeper gives it and the team retain possession. not sure if its cos he plays for Evertona dn Dyche but he looks to hit it long as hard as he possibly can every time.

Not taking Grealish is something I didn't understand especially as Jack showed him in the game prior 'exactly' what options he can give Southgate. I am convinced he just doesn't seem to know what he wants - caught betwixt. I don't under estimate that he has real issues to contend with like out of form and tired players that he has to navigate. But his comfortzone is defence, possession and he doesn't quite know how to lead an attacking team, hoping for those moments of natural brilliance that he has relied on his whole England Managerial career.

Seeing as England have to play Slovakia now and not the Netherlands, perhaps England can afford to "rest" Bellingham (looks tired), Saka (does not look fit) and Foden (who is away for personal reasons and not back til late). I would try Gordon left wing, Palmer as CAM and Bowen right wing. So far Englands attack has been disjointed, not creating much against so.called "lesser" opposition and general lacking. Putting in Gordon, Palmer and Bowen would mean having 3 players who are direct, who like to run and beat their man (Gordon and Bowen especially who will hug the touchline), who have been in form for their clubs and who will want to put in a shift and impress. They are direct, have pace and can score and more importantly they will be playing IN THEIR BEST POSITIONS. Put Rice and Mainoo behind and freshen things up. It is not rocket science. Just stop experimenting and play players who are in form and in their natural positions in a formation that suits them. Englands problems have been the imbalance in first eleven, players looking tired or players just out of form and Southgate has to stop being so stubborn and freshen it up. Things were so bad against Slovenia Italian TV said England were like "Snails on holiday" there was so little movement and desire.

In general for me this has been the poorest euro’s in terms of quality and excitement I’ve ever watched.

Champions League level players managed by a poor Championship manager. The quality of the players gets them over the line against regular teams but England will fall short against a big team.

Southgate have to stick with his ideas. He just have to play players at their position. Mainoo at cm and e new Lb. Others are ok. Saka is better than Palmer. Palmer and Foden at the same team doesnt work. One or other. Foden right now is at a Top level.

Praying he starts Mainoo and Palmer because they are not the amazing players they are being gassed up to be. Talented yes but far from brilliant. Mainoo poor when the ball is lost, jogs back which will cost us.

Rice is not world class. No half turn, cant pass, can't get pass player, can't shoot, can't make long pass, can't dribble, only do side pass back pass to get good stats. And he is too slow.

1 proven goal scorer at international level, no proper left back , no more than 4 players with long international careers etc... A wealth of talent ,but just no substance.... Its like putting a volunteer battalion of soldiers, against an elite battalion... Southgate is lost ...and i think hes lost the dressing room ...

Tbf he talks a good game but his analysis was shite. Good first half? Gallagher u lucky to come off? Rice a technical 6 who can pass through the lines. It was so bad I thought he was trolling. Even Ben's face was like ayyy? 😂
