Very good and informative video bro! I wish I knew all this before I broke my leg attempting kiteloops without being ready for them. Take note guys and dont take stupid risks!

Nice vid bro! Still praying for another kiteloop comparison vid with other kites (allround, big air and crossover) :D

The only kite I’ve had access to is the Rebel SLS, so that video is coming soon, probably this week

Jason! Finally pulled my first 5m+ kiteloops this week! Thanks for all the tips. On a 2015 8m fx however. That thing is a musquito with a serious yank. So now gonna look for a more suitable kite 😂 prolly an extra allround 3strut 9m.

That’s awesome mate, get yourself something like a 9m reach and it’ll get even easier 😂

Jason thanx for this video!!! I am still on landing loops or heliloops (*dont understand the difference between those two... ) I am very light 60kg and my age is 63yo but am fit and determined to loop before I die!!!! haaaaaa ..... so i use smaller kites (eg if you use 10 i will use 8 and thats seems an advantage for my side for looping easier the kites). Lots of videos suggest high jumps for kiteloops but i came to see your babyloops that give me hope 🙂!! SO on a 3m jump lets say you follow the sequence as in a bigger loop ...Vertical jump - pull-push fast the bar - sheet-out the bar so the kite can catch you - then pull down the bar to land... Is that sequence correct?? Thanx once again!!

8m is great, hopefully you’re using a kite that loops and recovers to 12 quickly… you definitely want to practice small baby loops 1-2m for a bit first to get used to the feeling of the kite going around and giving you a little pull. Check out the how to heli loop and kiteloop videos from ‘get high with Mike’ to better understand the differences and finer details as well, it’s important to understand what you’re trying to do without just going by feel

thanks for videos :) and how to start to do high backrolls with the loop? when i do some backrolls at 4-5 m, it seams so natural to do the loop, but I can't decide on this, as the result can be very painful =) what was your way? i'm just starting to do kiteloops (something like 10 landed on my 9m orbit, the height is about 9-10m).
@jasonofmontreal
@jasonofmontreal Жыл бұрын
With higher back rolls try to focus on keeping the kite at 12 as you ascend, rotating a little slower if you can also helps stop you pulling too soon. The higher you go before you pull, the less aggressive the loop, but the more control you’ll have.

Nice video! super helpful, What size orbit do you ride when the winds blowing or gusting over 30 knts? Is there much difference between the 2021 and 2022 orbits? what size twintip you riding? Thanks
@jasonofmontreal
@jasonofmontreal Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the slow reply, I somehow hadn't seen this... I ride my 9 Oribit from around 25-30 knot (avg) gusting 35ish. Once the wind avg get's over 30 knots gusting 40's I will switch down to an 8m. I found the 2022 a little more stable than the 21, which was also a lot more stable than the 2020. Each year they tend to make some good tweaks to help the overall riding experience with them. I am 105kg and ride a 138 TT

Hi Jason, love all your videos bro! you've motivated me to get back into kiting and I'm about to put in an order for 10m and 9m orbits. Which size navigator bar are you riding on both sizes? thanks!🍻

Great to hear. I use the standard one, 45-50 I think it is. You might want to consider 9/11 if only getting 2 kites, will give a lot more range

Either will work great for you in about 18-25 knots for most of this stuff.

be sure to get measured(!!!) stable 7-8 m of height with the send jump first :) even 9m orbit works good

I filmed in 4k super view, 120fps. I'm a bit disappointed it wasn't a lot clearer on youtube, but admittedly I did film it specifically for insta so I have the camera on its side

How do you overcome the fear of looping it in more than 8m? I have the fear that something will go wrong and I will crash violently on my side...
@jasonofmontreal
@jasonofmontreal Жыл бұрын
The best way I find to mitigate that fear is to get super competent in the steps leading up to the thing you want to do. If you can do sent jumps both ways, you always jump smoothly and land with clean heli-loops, and you've done so many baby loops that you are used to the pull of the kite every time, then you are ready to get them higher. Then in the session, if you want to send it bigger, don't do it first jump, build up the steps of the things you can do already, then send it when your confidence is at the max... that's why I always mention confidence building in my kite review videos, because some kites are just so powerful it become a lot scarier to try things with them...

@@jasonofmontreal thank you for the answer. It's better to loop before the highest point of the jump or right after you take off? If you separate the jump in three parts (1st right after the take off, 2nd before the appex, 3rd at the highest point of the jump) where to loop it? What mistakes can lead you to the kite not getting the whole loop done and you find yourself flying towards a crash?
@jasonofmontreal
@jasonofmontreal Жыл бұрын
@@menelpro The earlier you pull the loop, the more aggressive it will be (lower kite angle, bigger pull), but if you wait until too late after the jump's apex and on the descent, the lines will slack slightly. While progressing, it's usually best to pull as late as possible before you start to descend to minimise the pull of the loop and to make sure you pull hard and keep pulling until the kite goes all the way around, and then release the bar all the way out once the kites centre strut is facing back up to 12. There are a lot more comprehensive videos on this so I recommend watching them a few times

how do u not get slammed on the water when doing loops with a jump heigt of 2-5 meters?
@jasonofmontreal
@jasonofmontreal Жыл бұрын
If you’re doing a very high and tight loop you don’t need as much height on your jump to get it around abs catch you, but they’re not legit powered loops of course, just a good progression step

Could you explain better the landing after the loop? I can do the loop but all the time I fall down fast. Here I see that you move up & down the bar.. thanks.
@jasonofmontreal
@jasonofmontreal Жыл бұрын
This could be a few things, firstly if you come down very fast, you are possibly not taking off correctly. Make sure you are edging very well before you jump, and when you send the kite make sure it’s going right up to just before 12 as you pop. You need to jump as vertically as possible. You can practice this with the baby loops or jumps without a loop. When you loop the kite finally, wait until just before the apex of jump, pull/push with each hand on the bar to loop the kite as fast as possible while you’re learning, after the loop, as soon as the kite is pointing back up, sheet out the bar right out (a lot of people don’t do this enough so the kite doesn’t go to 12 quickly and keep yanking then quickly down to the water), if you’ve done everything right so far, the kite (if it’s a 9m or smaller) will shoot to 12 quite quickly, so as long as you’re over 5/6m in height, you will have time to then heli loop it above your head to slow you down and land
@lucajacquemet7415

@@jasonofmontreal thanks for the tips. I will try with my 9 orbit to leave the bar after the loop. With a low wind do you confirm that it's hard or impossible to do a loop with a 12m kite? It doesn't move up fast to 12 after the loop.
@jasonofmontreal
@jasonofmontreal Жыл бұрын
@@lucajacquemet7415 you can certainly loop a 12, but you need more height than a smaller kite. I find with an orbit I need about 8m, with a 12m Evo dlab you can get away with a metre less and about 17/18 knots

It's amazing to see you jump so high, also un your kite test videos 💪😃 I'm stuck in the 3-5m range with my 6yrs old North Evo 9.. Any ideas what I can do, or is it the material after all, to go big? I need to fix this quickly, I'm 42 😅

My first session on woo I think I jumped 6m, then a few sessions later 8, a few more 10, etc. just keep at it and build up the skills. Watch some videos online, ride with some better kiters if you can. ‘Get high with Mike’ has a lot of great content on improving: youtube.com/@gethighwithmike?si=5hf3GVzjZ9KJ03CH
