I was prescribed tretinoin 0.025 for the first time around 6 years ago for acne. Everytime I get acne, and go to the dermatologist she asks me to continue it again. I'm 20 now. I feel I should stop using it for the time being whenever my skin is cleared up cause tretintoin shouldn't be a regular cream for a 14 year old till all their lifetime. I think for the next few years, I'll switch to minimalist retinol serum or stop retinol completely and focus on hydration

On alternate days you can if your skin is not too dry or sensitive. If it is then wait till that passes. It really depends on how your skin is reacting. Vitc def helps in with the UV damage that can be caused due to skin becoming more sensitive to uv radition. Basically follow the rule of listening to your skin...if its calm you can be adventurous...if its irritated you better be calm with it! :) Once its settled down with the retinization process you can slowly introduce all these back.

you should meet a doctor. i have never heard of hydroquonone being used for more than 3 months at a stretch...

Hydroquinone is used for things like dark spots and malasma, the recommended use is around 3/4 month and then give it a break for a few months. Otherwise it can have the opposite effect and cause the skin to darken. It’s not the same as Retin-A or any other type of Retinoid. And it isn’t used with the same purpose, so if you are unsure please consult a dermatologist to find out what is the best skin treatment for your condition. 🙂

Hi great content ,do u use adapelene also along with your retin a as they are supposed to work on different receptors in the skin .

Both of these are retinoids. Adaplene is recommended as it is gentler and it comes in combination with BP specifically to handle acne.

Hey! I'm 15 years old, I had acne for over 6 years (yes, I had it at a very early age!), I tried 0.1% adapalene for monthss, it didn't really work for me, did not experience any dryness or irritation, so do you think I can try 0.05% tretinoin or should I start off with 0.025%? And also I have comedonal acne at the moment.

I haven't had started yet m searching over it ....one thing if beginner started with0.025% after how much time it should be safer to jump into 0.05% ... If I try to explain my condition to you .... so I have struggling with acne marks box like scare and dark scars also + has malasma not a big patch over the cheeks and forehead but has a faded kind of but it's there ...currently m using retinol serum and vitamin c serum which really help me and I find nice smooth and brightene skin ...I hope I hope 🙂✌ I get reply 🙏

Introduce retin a at every alternate day or even every third day... Start with after using it after ur moisturizer... That is put ur moisturizer wait for 20 mins and then just use your retinoids... Then slowly reduce to every alternate day and then every day... However every cycle should atleast be of min 60 days to 90 days... Keep in mind to avoid vitamin c or ahas bhas for atleast first 90 days... Then slowly introduce vitamin c not more than 10 percent.. And then on next cycle u might increase... Also for moisturizer i would suggest cera ve... And do not introduce anything else... Just cleanser moisturizer retin a and sunscreen... Do not burn ur skin... And use tons of moisturizer... No physical or chemical exfoliants... Just sush them
