That's the power of having a better currency like the US dollar you can enjoy luxury for less BT if you turn it to the local currency as a Kenyan it's expensive but I'm glad you enjoyed your stay😊

Thank you so much for this video ❤. Especially at this moment. I'm Kenyan living and working in Nairobi and I absolutely can't stand it here. Your video just reminded me that despite everything, there's still a lot to be grateful for 🙏🏽.

Thank you for your comment! It made my day to hear that this video helped you to look on the bright side. We can always find things to be frustrated by if we look for them, but so too can we find things for which to be grateful. I know this is a difficult time to be a Kenyan, and for more reasons and in more ways than I’ll even understand. But I am beyond impressed and inspired by spirit and the unity I see in this moment. It is really something to be proud of. I wish we in the US could be even half as organized and effective in holding our government accountable for again and again ignoring the will of the people. Keep looking on the bright side, and be it in Nairobi or elsewhere in Kenya (or the rest of the world!) you’ll find your way toward a place you CAN stand, maybe even one you’ll love!

Wait, malls in the US don't have supermarkets? In most of Africa, a mall has to have a supermarket as the anchor tenant before even looking for smaller store tenants.

It may have happened before, but I’ve been to a lot of malls all over the US and have never seen it. There are frequently supermarkets near malls, but I’m used to it being a separate stop, and in the US I’ll rarely ever visit a mall because it’s not a part of normal shopping, only something “extra.”

There are supermarkets in malls but it's not the norm or expected.

Depends on your situation. If you’re in the US, one of the best things you could do is get a remote job based in the US.

Just secure a remote job from the US or other multinational companies. Live your best life here.

A lot of Americans, because of what media they’re exposed to, have a certain view of Africa that includes a lot of the type of thing you’re describing. Can it be found? Sure, as can horrendous substandard living conditions in the US. What I choose to draw attention to, both for the benefit of Americans, and also for the many Kenyans I speak to who are very hard on their own country, are the things that are much nicer and better here as compared to the US.

A quick Google search will point you toward examples of both rural and urban communities in the US who have to face down raw sewage in a variety of different circumstances. I can’t paste a link here because YT will pull the comment but I assure you they’re there. The thing is, though no human being in any country should have to live in those conditions, it is that much more unforgivable in the US given the vast difference in resources compared to Kenya. I am continuously blown away by the resourcefulness and resilience of Kenyans I see demonstrated every day. The ability to do more with less is something myself and many other Americans can really learn a lot from. Neither of us are up to date on Nairobi schools, but we know some great options in Eldoret. As far as real estate, look in the vicinity of Junction Mall to see things around where we stayed. Cheers 🍻

@@Benedirwould you rather have a dirty environment or violent environment with gun shots throughout the night where you are not guaranteed to make it to the following day? Every country has issues that you probably not find in other countries… Sounds like you haven’t been to downtown New Orleans specifically bourbon street which is dirty, stinky and smells as hell..America is not heaven!!
