@@vicdu1995 you can make an argument that industrial revolution skyscrapers of the US and Europe benefitted from poor labor rights, but it’d be a stretch to call it slave labor. Today the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar literally provide worse conditions for their workers than the West did a century ago (complete with confiscating their visas and passports, literally enslaving them). If this was happening in the US or Europe, leaders would be imprisoned, but because these assholes have a lot of oil we let it slide

Just a question, if you left out the Eiffel Tower because it was not a building, why is the series called "tallest structures" and not "tallest buildings"? Also, I hate to sound condescending -it isn't my intent- but not including the first structure to surpass 1000 feet when the Washington monument was noted does sound like a strange reason.

I, too, refuse to call it anything but the Sears Tower. A theory I have as to why the Sears Tower was so cheap to build: Sears paid for the entire building themselves, not a city or government of any kind so I'm sure they were keeping an eye on their money. Private business = efficiency.

While it's true that the Empire State Building is still one of the tallest buildings in New York, it's actually not the second tallest anymore. In 2015, it was surpassed by 432 Park Avenue and relegated to the third place spot. The enormous residential tower at Park Avenue isn't that hyped because it's generally not looked at favorably by the population of the city. Its aesthetics are...well, awful. It's just a giant box with overly large windows.

I just was inspired by it because i did something like that at school. We had to creatively reinvent America and the way I did it was that I made it where it had 31 States(31 students in the class) and arranged their size and location by their personalities. Like Popular kids on the coast since they are more Populated. Country kids in the Southeast(I love in North Georgia so that was most of them) and so on.

We made an attempt in the 1970s, along with several other countries such as Canada and the UK to switch to it. It didn't work here for two reasons: 1. We didn't make it mandatory like they did and 2. We have a much bigger country with more secluded areas.

Sears tower was also larger than either of the twin towers of the wtc, sears has a little over 4,500,000 square feet of office space. And I believe it's antenna extension was made in 2000 not 2003, which had it exceed the structural hight of 1 wtc by a few feet.

@aBitterMelon
@aBitterMelon 8 жыл бұрын
+aBitterMelon Also your information about the World Trade Center is off. The north tower was built in 1973 and was the tallest building in the world, but because of the roof height and not the antenna. The building lost the title in 1974 but the building's antenna wasn't completed until 1978 or so.
