@mutantmacrophage66537 жыл бұрын
Technically, there are multiple Eskimo tribes in Alaska (and Russia) but there's only one arctic tribe in Canada; the Inuit. People in Canada who want to appear politically correct insist on calling all Eskimos Inuits, which is technically correct for Canada but it excludes all the other arctic Natives. The word 'eskimo' has no innate meaning other than to mean any arctic Natives / First Nation peoples. I don't understand why people insist on getting rid of it. It's as if Americans suddenly decided to call all Latin American immigrants Mexicans immigrants because they are the majority of the Latin American immigrants.

I feel obliged to say that the flag you referred to as the "Royal Military Flag" is actually the flag of the Royal Military College of Canada, the flag upon which our current flag is based, and that there is no such thing as a "Royal Military Flag". The TDV crest in the middle is the insignia of the Canadian Military Colleges, RMCC and CMRSJ, and is worn as the cap brass at the two colleges. I apologize for such a nit picky comment, but I felt the need to address this small issue and hope you can find the time to remedy it. @lucziel7 жыл бұрын
Newfoundland is not actually considered a maritime province, however it is an atlantic province, which has all the maritimes, plus newfoundland and labrador, i think a large part of this is because, newfoundland is a little more isolated, and has its own time zone, and labrador is so massive, and with such a low population density that not much really happens there anyway. ( source: im from newfoundland and have put some thought to it. ) EDIT: Also, from some quick research it says the term Maritime province to mean Nova scotia, new brunswick and PEI was established long before 1949, the year Newfoundland joined canada, so instead of redefining it, they just left it be.

@EEYore-py1bf5 жыл бұрын
It’s the best flag, don’t you dare apologize. I’m from BC, but I just can’t stand people insulting the Ensigns. They are clear representations of what Canada is. Not some bland, soulless, metropolitan New-America like the federal flag, but a symbol of the Anglo-Canadian identity that survived for over a hundred years before being nearly extinguished by the rising tide of anti-Canadianism pervasive in our schools and institutions. The fact that you would find it necessary to apologize for a symbol of your heritage is a clear sign of our crumbling society.

The sun was setting in the west The birds were singing on every tree All nature seemed inclined to rest But still there was no rest for me Farewell Nova Scotia The sea-bound coast Let your mountains dark and dreary be For when I am far away On your briny ocean tossed Will you ever heave a sigh Or a wish for me I grieve to leave my native land I grieve to leave my comrades all And my parents whom I held so dear And the bonny, bonny lassie That I do adore The drums they do beat And the wars do alarm The Captain calls, I must obey So farewell, farewell To my Nova Scotia home For it's early in the morning That I'm far, far away I had three brothers and they are at rest Their arms are folded on their chests But a poor, simple sailor just like me Must be tossed and driven On the deep, blue sea.

Ive made this arguement before and i stand by it: Quebec is no more special than any other province... big deal that they speak french there and they have french historical roots Canada is a vast country with a rich history and you could realistically make a case for any province/territory to be independent For example, im a newfoundlander (with french blood because the french didnt only go to quebec), we have our own dialect and version of english that makes no sense to people that dont speak it (waddaya at, b'y = whats up), we have our own genre of music, our own traditions... hell, we used to be independent until 1949 when we joined canada in the first place and one of the things we did as an independent entity was fighting in ww1.. yea, the island province of half a million people sent a frigging army to fight along side the british, canadian, and french armies and the crown seen fit to dub us as the royal newfoundland regiment, an honour not given to just any group... hows quebec special? They bitch in french and try to make the rest of the country bend to their will... like i said before, big deal...
@kyledoeshistory32967 жыл бұрын
1. I agree 2. I disagree. If that was the case black people in America could just say they want independence 3. I disagree. Look at the UK for example, it is made up of 4 different nations all with different cultures and languages, but that doesn't mean all of them want independence ( Well, maybe Scotland )
