I like that they didn't show if she was pushed into the road or if she jumped. It led to a nice discussion between my mom and I on whether or not she finally realized that the spirit that was her "mother" wasn't actually trying to help her, especially when we see what the spirit that is possessing Riley truly looked like as she laughed in her face about what she was about to do. The spirit of her mother had manipulated her grief and tricked her into breaking every rule they were told about the hand and the spirits it summoned. I like to think that maybe she had a moment of clarity and decided not to push him into the road instead of his sister pushing her. The end scene was a painful montage of all the things she lost because of her addiction to the hand. Her father survived the attack, Riley and his family get to go home, even the man on the ventilator recovered, but she was the only one who didn't get to leave the hospital that day mirroring all the things that something like drug addiction could cause one to lose.

What an amazing comment! I completely agree. I love your interpretation and the ending for the same reason, the ending really showed how others were impacted by this dark influence, many of them uninvolved with the hand directly, yet still involved in a mountain of pain, really emphasizing the reach that something like a drug addiction could have on impacting and harming others. There were many survivors focused on in that moment, but she wasnt one of them, she was the one who lost herself. She couldn’t see her reflection anymore, nobody could hear her anymore, and the the chaos died with her in that moment but cycled onto other people and other parts of the world, with her spirit remaining in that darkness

My interpretation is that her dad died, but he went to heaven. He leaves a different way than Riley and his family. It's bright and he gets into an elevator going up. That's what I like to think anyway 😓
