This was a great season! Definitely my favorite of the three so far. I had forgotten that Joe and Will are still pals; thanks for the reminder. I was wondering how he got to Paris. Now I wonder how he got the money to go there. Presumably since he planned everything so meticulously, he took the precaution of getting some money together before leaving. Or maybe he still has access to Benji's stolen stuff in storage and sold some of it.

@@PrincessofthePrincesses the thing is i think love did genuinely put off killing natalie at first, at least until she had definitive proof that joe was obsessed with natalie; she didn’t care if he was cheating, only if he was obsessed with her and therefore if she posed a genuine threat to tear apart her family because love knows how far joe will go to fulfil his obsessions. i don’t think it was necessarily just jealousy, but a desire to protect the only family she genuinely cared about and needed now forty is dead. i really do think that if love hadn’t have killed natalie, joe would have been the first to kill either natalie or her husband once his obsession really took hold of him. my issue really is with people acting like love is so much worse than joe and that joe’s moral code isn’t just as skewed as love’s.

He felt he was better than Love or too good for Love so he behaved accordingly while Love felt loosing control and her picture perfect family so she tried to clinge to it as hard as she could and deal with it the only way she knows... but her hot headed nature lost against Joe's coldness. He tried to manipulate her and she felt that. They never really talked about a future which could work. I hoped she would run away after Maryanne told her to. But she instead wanted to deal with it like always not seeing that it didn't work before why should it now.
@ackok3 жыл бұрын
@@Jginthecutt that's the problem though, Joe wasn't trying to be better he simply fell out of love hence why he would stop murdering and also claimed he did it for Henry which the therapist did call out it wasn't for Henry and to stop saying it was for Henry. But what happens the moment he once again fell in "love"? He murders merienne's husband because he hurts her and stood in the way of their love. He murders Love because she was in the way of their love and leaves Henry with other people because he was in the way of their love despite claiming it was because he couldn't be a good father to him, it more than that obviously. In reality no one should be supporting either Joe or love and if we did then bam we become hypocrites which let's be real the majority of the world is, hell even me for siding with love but I'll try to do that less.

I think the issue is Joe was trying to break old habits and Love constantly kept putting him positions to go back to his older self. He wanted someone to make him a better person, but because he and Love were so trauma bonded, they constantly kept gaslighting themselves into believing they are all that’s out there for each other…when in reality, they’re both sick individuals that needed to seek healing by THEMSELVES and NOT with each other.

Agreed. I think people forget that in the beginning of season 2 that was the point. He wanted to put killing behind him, not necessarily stop stalking but he did want to find someone to love. Then it turns out Love is also a murderer and he immediately falls out of love with her (hook to her throat, about to kill her). So in the beginning of season 3, he doesn't even want to be with her (which is stated in a not so obvious way) but stays for Henry. The plot points I don't really understand though is Love seemingly still loved Joe even when she was going to kill him, but has no remorse for sleeping with Theo (even though Joe wouldn't give a damn if she did later on in the season) and still goes on to say shes trying to save her marriage at the end, and nobody will love Joe like she does, etc. Unless...her sleeping with Theo is when she stops suppressing the "little voice" in her head that Marienne talks about, even for just a moment?

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Joe kills bad people based on a moral compass. Many of his murders have been anything other than justified by morality - he attempts to convince the audience (and himself) otherwise, but he is an unreliable, delusional narrator. Beck and Peach are prime examples of cold, calculated kills that benefit only Joe and no-one else. Hell, I’d go so far as to say the same for Benji, he’s a cheater and a sexist but he’s nowhere near as morally corrupt as some of the other abusive “villains” of the show, like Henderson or Ryan. I do think Joe is framed as an anti-hero in some instances, but Love’s point that what he does is no better than what she does is fair. A murderer is a murderer, no matter how one spins it.

I mean if we still used the "they killed other people to protect those they love" reason, that doesn't make Joe any different from Love. She murdered Forty's babysitter as well as other people that posed a threat to her relationship with Joe (Theo is the most recent example, but I know there were other characters she killed in season 2 for this very reason). Joe and Love are almost direct reflections of each other, Love just happens to be able to afford to cover up her crimes.

Joe does not “love”, he uses people and projects his ideals on his female victims and when he realizes they are flawed and real human beings with real problems , he steps in to force-make his victims into how he thinks they should be. Also, his murder code does not exists has a “higher-moral-code” than his wife’s, Love. It only reflects his self diluted idea that he is a “vigilante” like you mentioned, a “good guy”. He takes it upon himself to help these kids because is a way for him to tell himself he is not a bad person, does it for complete self interest. The only time he did something selfless for one of his victims was when he was going to let Delilah be free because of his friendship with her and Ali. When Joe finally found someone who loves him exactly has he is, a murderer, he quickly falls out of love because he cannot accept Love the way she is (going back to this elusive way to see women), clearly showed in this season by depicting how much he struggles to stay invested in is so called “love” in his marriage. The reason we like this show is not because Joe is a “vigilante” and a complex guy. It’s because we are riding his train of self-elusion and even for us as the viewers it becomes difficult to untangle his psyche. I love how this show dives DEEP into his thought process. This makes us relate and want to understand his mind and motivations.

Here are my thoughts on why Jo can't seem to love Love Quinn: - First, she is a female sort of reflection of himself and he hates himself. - Secondly, she is the only one who stayed with him and kept loving him after finding out the real "him" (aka a mass murderer), and I don't think he believes he is worth that... hence whenever a woman loves him without truly knowing what he's capable of, he goes along and loves her, but he does not think that he deserves to be loved for who he really is, because (see my 1st point) he hates himself for his actions.

Peach Salinger didn‘t die (We never really saw, if it was her body in the body bag. It also could have been Raj, the medical student, who must have been laying on the bed Joe was hiding under. Joe somehow left his hiding spot without Raj noticing him - or maybe he did and got killed 😉). Peach moved to Paris like she originally planned. She didn‘t tell Beck, because they had this huge fight about Peach’s sexuality and Peach finally accepted that Beck isn‘t interested in a romantic relationship. Plus: she didn’t want anyone to know, especially people close to Joe, that she survived the gunshot. The private investigator was actually hired by Peach herself, not her family. In season 4, Joe and Peach will run into each other in Paris and she is going to seek revenge for Becks death. The show would come full circle and, to me, that would be the perfect ending. Imagine Joe‘s face in shock, when he hears Peach’s voice calling him „Joseph!“, he realises Peach is alive and that he will never be able to escape the consequences of his actions, no matter how far he travels. #JusticeForPeachSalinger

What ruined Love for me was when she started to show her ultimate true colors and acted less and less like an adult. For starters. Joe obviously was seen trying to live a better life for his child, even when it became too much. Even if he was in a position he didn’t like. The thing is though. Love was just a hot head who could not control her emotions for anything. This is shown by her killing the neighbor for what was simply a kiss that Joe ACTUALLY declined. To then blame Joe saying it’s all his fault. This is also shown by her wacking Gil and keeping him in the cage. To which later in the show Joe even says “We could’ve just sued them.” It’s clear Joe is objectively more rational than Love and the fact that she is not a logical person at all lead to him constantly being brought into situations he could not escape. Where I began to lose respect for her was when she became extremely hypocritical. Gets mad at Joe for KISSING the neighbor, KILLS her. But when she does the same with Theo and Joe only gets UPSET, he is the bad guy. Then she goes the extra mile to sleep with Theo not once but TWICE…But when Joe sleeps with Marriane ONCE, she completely blows it out of proportion. She put them into so many situations that were so preventable just by keeping a level head. Joe realized this when they were in the rain. Telling her he would be burying bodies until he was 70. Because if he doesn’t give her his all. She will continue to kill people. Even to a degree where her own dysfunctional mother can see that she is full of shit. I mean she missed her childs first steps because she wanted to take a trip to pound town. The sexy neighbor died because she couldn’t keep her cool. Gil committed suicide in the end after being caged for days. Because she couldn’t keep her cool. The fake woman and her macho husband overheard her admit she killed Natalie…Because she couldn’t keep her cool. But it was always Joe to blame. She was so quick to make everything everyone else’s fault but could never take accountability and always ran from it. In the end. These characters were written so well. This season showed that as crazy as Joe is. There was someone he found crazier than him. They made the insanity feel so real. And in the end she got what she deserved. I’m not saying Joe is an angel. But throughout the season until the very end he was at least self aware and showed SOME sort of Growth & Development.

1. He did buy cupcakes, his credit card can show that, but they found his body at his house, so they assume he got cupcakes and went back home 2. tbh, i feel like Joe is going to realize that Love was, realistically speaking, perfect for him. esp since she was the only one that understood him. only problem is that Love was extremely impulsive, they both were incredibly hypocritical, & Joe just did not love her anymore (considering he literally killed her), but since it took Joe 3 seasons to finally figure out that he has mommy issues, maybe it won’t take long for him to realize that if he had really committed to Love instead of painting her out to be a monster, they would’ve been happy together. so i feel like there will be a bit of regret & guilt going on in his head for season 4. i also feel like he’s not going to find Marianne, it wouldn’t make sense if he found her either way, you know? so, he finds her, then what? he’d be considered a deadman walking. on top of him killing her ex husband & let’s not forget his other murders. who knows, maybe they’ll come back to bite him in the ass. anyways, IF Marianne does come back into the story then she would honestly see Joe as a HUGE threat to herself & her daughter. but besides that, we’ve all established a very very long time ago that Joe is just in love with the idea of being in love & obsessed with stalking women he thinks he can “fix,” so there’s absolutely no way that this whole season is just going to be about him looking for Marianne. if so, that’s an interesting way of doing things, but he is most definitely going to find someone new.. maybe even someone different. maybe he’ll find someone that was like Love but without the killings involved. but let’s be real, even if he found the most perfect woman to ever exist, he’ll never be satisfied.

The saddest part was when Love was texting Forty and pouring her heart out(( She was talking to her soulmate knowing she wasn't going to get a reply- there is no one to understand her anymore. When Dottie tells Love that she liked that Forty needed protection Love says maybe she did, but all in all, Love needed protection too (at least from the toxic family she grew up in). The reflection of what she gave to her soulmate (Forty) was what she herself lacked too. Love wants a sibling for Henry because she sees how bad she and Joe can affect Henry, and that he would need protection- protection she did not receive. She also thinks of having a daughter-sister to Henry, like she was to Forty. On the contrary we see Joe, who got away from toxic household, but has the same pattern as Love- protects his soulmate while needing a protection himself. And the fact that both of them understand how toxicity affects a child, they do everything to take care of Henry right. Joe leaving Henry with Dante was also a proof of this.

I actually felt like Joe was trying not to kill anyone after Henry came into his life and he even tried to drug news reporter but not tried to kill him at the beginning and at last he killed him only for "you". Secondly from the day love's mother said to Joe that Love killed her ex. Joe knows that he should be ready to face Love at any point. At last Joe's plan was to run away but he ended up killing love. It was kind of sad though
@ravenswood1183 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid you missed the entire point. "Joe has a moral compass for his killing, whereas Love is just emotional." Lol, that's how HE sees it, and it's literally the whole point. It's the most prominent social commentary present in the series since he found out what she was. Women get demonized for the very same things men can get away with. Murder is murder, there is no moral murder. Every murder Joe committed was emotional ("I'm doing it for love, I would do anything for love"). Heck, he'd kill friends of his lovers just because he saw them standing in the way of what he wanted. Claiming that he's moral and calculated while she's emotional is pure sexism and you fell for it.
@keelahrose3 жыл бұрын
This is a really interesting take, and I agree with several points you made. However there's no denying that Joe's crimes are carefully planned out, whereas Love's are all impulsive (her favorite word, lol) and poorly thought out or not thought out at all, which is why people say that she leads with emotion rather than calculation. I think you're right about "murder" never being moral (There's an argument to be had about what counts as murder; hence the quotation marks.) but it's also undeniable that we DID see Joe commit murder, or help cover up someone else's murder, for altruistic reasons. Remember Pablo in season 1. And if he had killed the nurse's abusive boyfriend, it certainly wouldn't have been because the guy was standing in his way or for romantic love; he was just a kid, and the show didn't indicate that he had those kinds of feelings for the nurse whatsoever. However I think you're right about him being emotional and about a certain element of sexism. Joe was free to go off and do what he pleased while Love was trapped raising a child she probably resented because she knew it was the only thing keeping Joe from killing her, which forced her to acknowledge on a daily or even hourly basis that Joe did not love her the way she loved him. No wonder she wanted another baby. She never felt safe, and lashing out at people who threatened that safety helps us understand her motives even if we can't justify them.
@ravenswood1183 жыл бұрын
@@keelahrose Yeah, look, bottom line, the video literally says Joe has a "moral compass to his murders whereas Love is emotional." She may be more impulsive, but let's get one thing straight. There is NO moral compass to his f-cking murders, and they are 100% based entirely on nothing but emotion. The commentator is not only a numbskull for missing this entirely obvious social commentary within the series (they hit you over the head with it) but also a sexist to have fallen so easily into that trap. .....The main character is literally a murderer who kills anyone who gets to be an inconvenience for him, and yet the commentator seems to think he's still a good person. It's obscene. The whole POINT is to illustrate that Joe and Love are exactly the same, morally speaking, but people will make excuses for Joe and demonize Love.

They definitely fell for it and it sickens me that ppl (mostly men) are really giving honor to Joe as if he's a god of some sort.
