Lets be real here, he's good but if HG quota wasn't an issue I doubt he'd be as high on the list. What it at least shows me is consistency in player personality. Kind of a "no bell ends" policy. Toney might be the better talent but could you really trust him? Every misplaced pass, missed sitter I'd always be wondering has he got a side bet going? I actually think it's also a calculated gamble Toney will be available on a free in 6 months. If Solanke flops Toney is there for free/minimal fee.

You say Gyokeres has only had 1 good season. Just remind me how many good season Solanke has had? He’s flopped for more seasons than he’s succeeded. 1 good season, that’s it and this justifies £65m? you realise Alvarez has been sold for £65m? No doubt Solanke is a decent player, but he’s not the player that will win us trophies. In the end, he scores when he receives good supply. Which we don’t have in abundance.
@SonnyTalksSpurs3 ай бұрын
Alvarez is being sold for £81m - we need homegrown players which are younger like Solanke is and Gyokeres had one good season in Europe - which is not a top 5 league and is other success came in the champ which Solanke did well in as well

@SonnyTalksSpurs3 ай бұрын
I am good - hope you are as well - that is an interesting stat - but I guess if you are having a lot of touches in a team like Bournemouth this would be the case and surely the one metric to look at is the goals he scored last season
@eldante41393 ай бұрын
@@SonnyTalksSpurs I am good thank you. He also scored less than his xG would suggest he should be scoring (scoring 1.47 less goals than expected). For me he is the focal point of Bournemouth attacks and will shoot a lot, but I feel he needs to be more than that for us. I want a player that can link play with clever touches and play in the likes of Johnson and Son. Plus hold up the play and with poor first touch too often, suggestions that he could be wasteful in front of goal; Richarlison scored 0.97 more goals than his xG would suggest he should have. And Kulusevski scored 3 more. For me Solanke isn’t the answer but of course if we do sign him I’ll support him fully, he just isn’t someone that I want us to sign based on my research.

@LevyHappyClapper toney would be absolutely frustrating, and I can see it coming. Ange ball is all about the no.9 running their guts out, pressing the keeper for 90mins. Sonny and Richi took turns to do that last season. Toney would never in a million years do that. Imagine not pressing properly and still keeping a very high line. Teams will literally walk through your midfield. Toney is no doubt a better all round player in terms of a traditional no.9 than solanke. But that pressing element definitely makes alot of difference for this system

This is where the Murhino and Conte years have messed us up. This is where we kind of need to give Ange some space and time. I don't blame Kane for leaving. He was too good a striker, and was having to push ever deeper just to get the ball under former managers. I personally don't think that Ange will last (I hope I'm wrong), but he's pointing us in the right direction. The youth coming through at Spurs should warm the cockles of every Spurs heart this cold winter's night (in this part of the world, anyway).
