This is a Patreon-only deep dive into what the establishment gets wrong about immigration.. I've made it public because it's suddenly more relevant than ever.
The Economist is a good proxy for establishment thinking. It's increasingly leftist and idealistic, and it's very influential. The Economist's main article for the year is on migration, so I've gone through it and broken apart its arguments and assumptions.
Left-wing idealists see immigration as an inherent moral good (diversity=strength, yay!), while politicians see Britain as a banal economic platform and people as GDP-generating nodes, so want a steady supply of cheap labour to inflate the economy.
Both are missing a realistic view of immigration and how some country's shared values and culture give rise to a prosperous, free and pleasant society while others don't.

Right there's your chance. Bar the gate to re-entry. When re-migration comes (and it will come) any "refugee" is either barred from re-entry or, if they've gone "home" for a visit they can be sent back.

I knew two Afghan men, brothers in their 20s who legged it over here to escape the Taliban the first time round, they left their mother behind, they never did try to get her over here, she's the one that should have been let in here not them. all they did was moan that the local council shoved them in a flat together instead of give them separate ones, hated those two absolutely entitled and blind to how good they had it. I couldn't get a council place at all and they got handed one within 6 months, fully furnished too.

These people stand upon the achievements of their ancestors whilst denigrating their achievements and denying their hand in the creation of our successful, peaceful and ordered societies. I have the unfortunate privilege of being middle class in background, destitute and living in a council house in reality, after being made homeless by a landlady using that nice little legal loophole to reclaim the property without reason. As such, not only do I get to see reality as it actually is, and see how strained and broken basic services are now for those of us at the bottom, but I get to see middle class acquaintances constantly going on about the "far right" and telling me that my neighbour, who bought his council house and always drove a Mercedes, is a refugee - despite them knowing nothing about him. At university, while in the process of being made homeless, I was being told by middle-class peers that I was a fascist for my concerns. Now here I sit, trying desperately to sell books that nobody wants to read in an attempt to claw my way out of the gutter, and I can't even vote Reform in the hopes of some change steering this country back in the right direction, because there is no Reform candidate here - probably because the panic-election was specifically designed to prevent Reform from having a full-length campaign. Incidentally, isn't it about time we put a stop to that? Surely calling a snap election should be for emergencies only - not to wield election timing as a political weapon. Surely calling an early election for political purposes should be considered interference?

That's one thing he was correct on. Economic migration destroys families as well as countries. My country has huge economic emigration which skyrocketed once we joined the EU. The results are: - huge decline in local workforce quality and availability due to everyone with a bit of mettle and merit choosing the easy way out and emigrating instead of working hard to better the country and the society; - huge decline in number of children; as not only do the women also emigrate and birth children abroad, but the remaining population figures their kids will emigrate and so what's the point of having kids when you won't have a family when you age anyway

@Usual_Goon That's exactly where we are heading. I'm in my early 20s. The street I grew up in during the 2000s has been completely transformed. What was once family homes with smart, well-kept gardens has become a rubbish strewn mess. Houses have become bedsits, HMOs with the gardens ripped up for parking, extentions and outbuildings. It has effectively become a slum. My Mam and Dad sold up back in 2013 as they saw what was coming. I now live alone and nowhere live where I spent most of my childhood.

and on average muslims have 6 kids per woman and they all have to be educated and get extra benefits like tax credits and child benefit who's paying for that?, even if the parents work (and muslim men can have upto 4 wives each) 2 parents wages paying their taxes is not going to cover the cost of education, medical needs, dentists, opticians and depending on where you are in the country free public transport for their 6 kids for 18 years. it does not add up, the political parties keep telling us we need the immigration because we are an aging society and someone needs to wipe our bums in a few years, the maths does not add up at all when they have 6+ kids in tow. Japan is an aging society too and they just build more robots and vending machines to fill the gaps and they are doing a damn sign better then us with a far higher standard of living, low crime and high social cohesion.

The argument seem to be some is good, so more is better, while ignoring if the 'some' were selected, encouraged to integrate and whether they had infrastructure in place. The some is good, more is better thing seems idiotic. Some water might be good for your crops. More might be better. Or not. It's contextual. They made a comparison to Australia. The bulk of Australian immigration has tended to be Indian or Chinese, I think. Some kiwis. But if people are coming from India, then maybe they speak some English or tend to speak Hindi. A while back, African migrants to New York went to some meeting and complained about things like food and pointed out that housing African migrants together didn't really work because they spoke dozens of different languages (a fair point, really). It might be as sensible as deciding that at an earlier point that you were getting a bunch of people from European warzones, so would have a hotel house all the refugees from the Balkans. Living in reality requires knowing that you'd need housing, translation services and come with the problem of people who, for all you know, might only have a primary education. If a lack of infrastructure dooms you to be an underclass, you might not have much nice to say about your new home. They also cited refugees settling in nations near them as some kind of proof. As is, western nations might actively block or discourage immigration, or plausibly contribute to housing refugees as long as it's far away. They have policies and treaties and relationships to manage the issue. So when the Economist scoffs at the idea that rich nations are discussing a flood, it wilfully ignores steps taken to get ahead of the issue. "It's not a flood" dodges the basic question of whether it could be a flood. (which would give the people's concerns a basic level of rationality).

Immigration to western welfare societies is a direct economic deficit business because it burdens public services very heavily. In the years 1995-2019, the total cost of immigration amounted to over €400 billion in the Netherlands. Corresponding figures for the UK are probably 3-4 times higher.

It baffles me how the economists can doctor the figures to make it look like mass immigration is a good thing. Sure, if you bring in even one person, he adds to the state’s economic activity, if only because his hotel has to be paid for, and his free iphone, and his food allowance, and therefore he adds to state GDP. But how is that a good thing if everyone here already has to pay for it? It’s bonkers, makes zero sense.

The billions wasted on human rights lawyers, especially the Muslim firms in London that were closed last year for processing fake asylum claims and showing them how to get past deportation, should be appropriated on far more worthy beneficiaries than them. I have seen way too many criminals pass our useless security checks and evade justice. This country is hemorrhaging money on people who are dishonest, ungrateful and undeserving of billions of our taxes whatsoever

nah they want more immigration to drive down wages and reduce rights, I live in london I already apply for tonnes of jobs, I've not had a job since 2015, who's going to employ a native woman who has children, when they can employ some 20 something year old man fresh off a boat available 24/7, and the longer it goes on the worse it gets, as we age and once that spot on our hands turn red no employer wants us. I've sat in the job centre for years surrounded by mothers and men over the age of 50 who can't get a job for toffee, they want a saturated market so people will accept anything no matter how dire and dare not speak about their rights for fear of losing the one job they will manage to get in their lives, they want there to be a massive housing shortage high demand = higher rents and being able to rent out sheds you can barely lay down in.

It's not an accident that westernized countries are desirable to move to, it's a result of superior (not perfect) cultural practices. Its not that we are fortunate to be born here, it's that we inherited the responsibilities of the people who created these cultures. Outsiders do not have a right to our prosperity because they did not inherit the responsibilities that created it. Now if they would like to adopt our responsibilities then we can have a talk about them getting a slice of the prosperity but most of them bring their own cultural attitudes despite them seeing first hand the result of those attitudes.

15:00 mass immigration causes wage and productivity stagnation whilst exacerbating the housing EMERGENCY and driving overcrowding and lowering housing standards. This is because the Law of Supply and Demand applies to domestic housing and labour supply too. Mass Immigration is not sustainable in any way, not socially, culturally, economically, or environmentally. Immigrants from outside the West are a net economic drain AND bring many other problems. Some curry slop isn't worth it. Time to take back our country. Vote ReformUK ❤

Ok, so over the past couple of years, I've started to regularly see delivery type mopeds on main motorways. Not the souped up 100-150cc types (that are still not motorway legal), but the little 50-80cc deliveroo/Uber eats type hairdryers. Doing 40mph or so in the first lane or hard shoulder. I've also been caught up in traffic jams as well recently, caused by various south Asian people on delivery or passenger peddle rickshaws, on major roads. It's bad enough having large numbers of people who do not civilly queue for anything, just barging to the front in a free-for-all. Now we have the sort of pavement and road chaos of Islamabad, Mumbai or Lagos. The 3rd world is chaotic because of chaotic culture, lack of emotional control, impulse control, civility or delayed gratification. We have collapsed a high trust, civil society by importing chaotic and aggressive cultures, and it will just drag us down to 3rd world conditions, as our morality and civility is dragged down. Perhaps a dystopian cross between Robocop and Haiti.

Couple of points: Does anyone remember the Zero Population Growth movement back in the 70s? Back then a smaller population was promoted by the leftists. I'm not against that, but I wonder what has changed and why the leftists are now pro-mass migration to increase the population (especially since it only benefits the capitalists who they hate). Also, right now Australia is facing a similar issue with a muslim MP (Fatima Payman) like the UK with that elected muslim councillor in Leeds (Mothin Ali). Australia has had better control of the borders, but has unfortunately still allowed the ☪️ancer in and allowed it to spread.
@littlecatfeet9064
@littlecatfeet9064 2 күн бұрын
There’s a small political party called the Sustainable Australia Party that believes in smaller population (especially in Australia, which is the driest continent and ecologically vulnerable). Otherwise, the very woke Greens, who used to be less radical, love open borders without any thought of how that will work economically and environmentally, and want the immigrants to be given new housing wherever. That probably means bulldozing a hell of a lot of trees in places like Southeast Queensland. Edit: and Fatima Payman is what used to be called a fifth columnist.

You are right about the left moving rather than previous supporters of the left moving. In the 1970s union activists used to hand out leaflets saying "Brown faced Pakistanis will steal our jobs" in response to the UK accepting, mostly, Indians expelled from Uganda. The allegation of racism used to be a thing directed at the left rather than at conservatives.
