0:49 I mean if anyone doubts they've seen Tengu in Japanese media _revolving around youkai_ like Kitaro, Yokai Clan, Shaman King (while that one takes after Chinese folklore, it's basically the same thing, it may as well be called Onmyoji King otherwise), Touhou and YYH which wasn't mentioned but falls into that same general category... Also since when was there a Touhou anime? Also Okami, Persona, MegaTen in general (though Persona and MegaTen games have gods, spirits and other folklore characters from as many religions as possible but I digress) and Yokai Watch

This was a good video. You were way more specific than usual about the subject, and script and use of visuals was engaging. I was going to take a break halfway through to make coffee, but I watched it in one sitting, instead. I enjoy how regularly you post, but if you want to pepper in these longer ones (at least) on the occasion, I'm down for it.

edit: HOLY MOLY THE DUDE IN THE THINGY IS NAMED MINAMOTO NO YOSHITSUNE, MY MIND IS BLOWN a bit very late here, but i am here to inform you that there is also a H3nTa1 with a tengu in it, called shikkoku no shaga, with the titular character shaga being the tengu. and cause the 3 episode series is set in japan, it is more than obvious, i just know it is a tengu cause there is only one explanation for a monster that has a humanoid body and wings. she's a tengu, there is no other explanation.

One story really struck me in a way. At 15:40 you mention a boy known by a nickname of Ushiwaka. This immediately made me remember the mysterious character Waka from the game Okami. I will try to avoid spoilers, but many things line up with his design. He is a swordsman who seems associated with air and wind, and apart from his seemingly innate ability to float and fly, as well as swordsmanship that cost me my fair share of lives on my first encounter, he also mentions what he calls the gift of prophecy, which seems, at least in name, to your Miraki or "Chronicle of the Future". Along with that, there is Waka's attire, which to me seems to closely parallel tengu attire, with similar robes, a fuzzy ball, okobo shoes, and even a headdress resembling wings. I would say that he has strong relations with said folklore, not to mention his motivations. Feel free to correct me on any detail or even add your own takes, but please avoid spoilers for others' sake.

I really enjoyed this! I love it when the focus is on the creature itself! And using games and anime and other media to highlight certain aspects of them are a really nice touch! I really love this style and would love to see more of it! :D And also, I kinda of hoped that a reference to Greckles might have come up X3 I know that he is a Kenku and not Tengu, even though I've read that Kenku were INSPIRED BY TENGU I understand why...still though X3 love that birb boy.
