Sonic dash + on Apple Arcade also has no microtransactions due to Apple Arcade law being “no ads, no microtransactions”. Also it’s cheaper than a Netflix subscription being $5 a month. Also it has a lot of amazing games on there (the only games that caught my eye on Netflix is shovel knight pocket dungeon, hades, and TMNT shredders revenge, so not much there for me compared to arcade which has grindstone, standard wild hearts, Rayman mini, angry birds reloaded, and a bunch of others). So yeah, if you have a iPhone, ipad, Apple TV, or Mac, you can go play a adless and no greed version of sonic dash ( and I specify those 4 products because the amount of time I’ve seen people assume that it’s IPhone only or it’s a bunch of mobile games as in those shitty ones that plague the app/play store to this day is mind numbing! If I see one more of those people, I’m going to use these lemons to BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN!)

So I tried different online -hacks- mods the game, and noticed something clever. If you get infinite rings, you can basically run forever, with the revive and the character upgrade cost increase no longer being a problem. However, rings can't buy _everything._ There are other currencies, including real world money, which can only be obtained by earning them fairly. Gems are only obtained by completing missions, and are used in the place of coins when fixing up the zones. This is probably because you need the exp from upgrading and completing missions to unlock new zones via the score multiplier increasing. Both require currencies you can only get by running. On top of gems, you also need flickies to fix things in zones. Flickies are inside badniks, so you still need to smash them to completely fix the stages. Some common and uncommon characters have x2 multipliers for certain flickies, but trust me, it only gets the job slightly faster, and you still need their character cards to get those multipliers. Common and Uncommon character cards are obtainable from missions and fully completing zones, which is a task in and of itself, but certain character cards only appear during events, meaning even though you can -hack- mod the game to have every character currently available, you still won't be able to upgrade all of them since you didn't gather any character cards to spend on said upgrades. (Mind you that a character event may only appear once in a lifetime, so those cards live up to their moniker of rare and legendary) This may seem like a cheap mobile game with rigged wheels and in app purchases, but it's actually really well designed to make -hackers- modders work hard for their 100%.

So to anyone curious Sonic Prime Dash is just a repackaged Sonic Dash+, the iOS version of Sonic Dash that removes microtransactions and adds various improvements to the overall experience and makes the game actually worth playing. You see, on July 12, 2023 SEGA HARDlight announced that Sonic Dash would be overhauling the way you unlock and upgrade characters... by importing and altering the mechanics from Sonic Forces: Speed Battle. This is bad for two reasons. 1. To upgrade characters now you need to collect the necessary cards that are *randomly* generated during your run on top of having a specific number of rings. This is where the problem Sonic Forces: Speed Battle has rears its ugly mug and will give you Character Cards *you don't need anymore.* 2. If you have any crossover event characters prior to version 7.0.0. and didn't max them out (for some unexplained reason) then I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, you just fucked yourself by updating the game to the Character Card system. See, the event characters can come in three rarities, Rare, Epic and Legendary. Legendary characters are *impossible* to upgrade unless you have legendary characters cards tied to that specific event character and unfortunately, any crossover characters are considered "legendary" characters. So that means if you have Pac-man, Ms. Pac-man, Bongo, Epic-Chuck, Epic-Red, Epic-Bomb, My Melody, Badtz-Maru, Hello Kitty, or Chococat and *didn't* max any of them out for any particular reason, you can't do so anymore. Now the kicker is on the announcement SEGA HARDLight made they said *collecting characters* was the best part of Sonic Dash. Even though that's suppose to be seeing how high of a score you can get in a single, continuous run. And even then once you get a character like Darkspine Sonic or whatever character variation you prefer who has *incredible* stats, you... don't really need to collect the other available characters other than making sure you have that specific character in your collection. And the worst part of the Character Cards? There's a *hard limit* on how many cards you can collect *per day* which contradicts their claim of making things faster. I unfortunately don't know what the limit is, but be weary when playing. Also navigating the character menu is a slog. TL:DR, SEGA HARDLight made an unnecessary change to a 10+ year old mobile game for no discernible reason other than tricking Sonic Forces: Speed Battle players into thinking that game's card system made for an excellent inclusion.

In my limited experience with mobile games, the main reason why some games don't have micro-transactions is because said games are still too new and they haven't set up the payment processes yet. Yes, apparently releasing mobile games before they've completed the payment processes for them is more common than you'd think, and it's usually coupled with the game being released in a not reasonably enough bug-free state.

I've been playing Prime Dash pretty much since the day it released. After a few months I Actually maxed out the multiplier at x49 and got every zone unlocked. i played og Sonic dash as well for a while, however ever since prime dash came out I never looked back to the og. The way how they shove ads down your throat, the ridicules prices for the microtransactions and god forbid the awful card system they added, pretty much ruined it. I have my few little issues with prime dash, but they honestly don't compare to the mess of regular dash. Keeping the token system in Prime dash is honestly a blessing. If the day comes were they decide to also add the card system to it will probably be also the day I stop playing. And since I like sharing my score from my best run, you can have it. Its 8,688,112 and I currently have 42 characters unlocked. Not including The Jester Sonic yet, currently finishing up my collecting grind for him before the event runs out.

I think they might add Event Missions in sonic dash cards system. Because your right about the cards on the track is slower so having Event missions will fix it. But it's not a downgrade it's an upgrade 😅.

Sonic Dash USED to be a great game. It was great until Sonic Forces came out… That game single handedly ruined Dash because every shitty, greedy tactic Forces used was brought over to Dash. Biggest issue being the tokens Best example is Cream. For a long time you could get her for free by opening the game for 7 days. But now thanks to the greedy tokens brought over from Forces, you only get 100 tokens after 7 days. She needs about 300 tokens to unlock. I can’t believe people honestly think that not only Forces Mobile is good but also that people are ignoring this awful, greedy tactic both games use now. Tbh the lack of micro transactions make it worse because you don’t have the option to pay to speed things up if you wanted to. You have less options which for some people make the whole experience worse because nothing in Dash or Forces is worth the stupid grind the tokens force.
