@@Einwetok don't quite agree with your take but your opinion is yours. I have been a fan of Star Trek since the age of 3 and watched all Star Trek and read the books and comics. I was excited by and absolutely love Discovery and Lower Decks because they add to the mythos. Discovery has taken us where no one has gone before and given us a unique look at the mythology while adding a much-needed view into the far future while I see Lower Decks as a fun way to introduce young would be fans to Trek while also catering to nostalgia fans. It's also why I probably loved the first two seasons of Picard while most hated them - something I just never understood because again they added to the mythos of the Star Trek World and gave us so much new material to play with going forward.

What the hell is this? Why in the sam hell would your COMMUNICATIONS ANTENNA ARRAY be routed through the fucking nacelles? If, oh I dunno, a Klingon warbird pops up and decides to blow your nacelles to high hell, you've lost the fucking antenna and can't call Starfleet for backup or a tow. Contrived BS that makes no goddamn sense. And people are still watching it.
@Colinpark4 ай бұрын
Actually makes sense, you can have it running the length of both nacelles and provides for a long antenna. On modern warship, trying to organize and setup sensor arrays so they don't interfere with each other is very difficult.

@MrMikellsof883 ай бұрын
@@ianharac5153 There's a separate system for that. It's called the subspace comm array. Which is not located in the nacelles. It's powerful enough to punch a SIGNAL into subspace, but not powerful enough to create a bubble around the ship. That's where the nacelles come in. Otherwise, as a hypothetical, how does the surviving saucer section of a destroyed Galaxy-class call for aid? How did Starfleet know to pick up the Enterprise crew on Viridian III?

I cannot say I have watched this show, but I might give it an airing. With the advances in technology since the Original series aired in the 1960s, I think it a good idea to try and breathe some new life into this show. I always felt that TNG was a poor substitute for the original series. (I recently watched the entire TNG run so I could review all episodes). *TNG* At least the original was pure sci-fi. Only a small number of episodes from TNG per season, dealt with space related stories. Too often they went into half-cocked main character lead stories that were sometimes good, but usually pretty lame. For example, The Dauphin, Qpid, Ethics, Man Of The People, Sub Rosa. Of course, if you prefer those shows, then you've always got the box-sets. *DS9* DS9 was a vast improvement on TNG but it also had too many filler episodes. It didn't really hit its stride until Season Four anyway. But we also had the poor shows such as Babel, Playing God... Indeed any story that centred around Jadzia Dax. I could never understand why they bothered with her. When Worf joined in season 4, they linked his character to hers, just to make her seem more interesting. Best thing they did was kill her off. *VOY* Voyager probably came at a time when there was too much Star Trek on the airwaves. I would only watch the early episodes if I had nothing better to do. It got better later on in the run with the addition of 7 of 9, but really, I didn't care. I have never re-watched or owned the box-set for Voyager. I have never watched Enterprise.

Pike's story started on Discovery and there are 3 or 4 episodes that he is in the first season. They are not required watching but at least reading the synopsis of them and Pike and Spock's role will help explain some flashback and forwards. I like the show.
@OptimusWombat9 сағат бұрын
I would agree with that statement if it was in reference to Discovery. But SNW has given us plenty of character development, and not just on a small number of core characters.
