I think the Kinect is very cool tech but its mandatory inclusion with the Xbox One was MS's hubris getting the better of them, and that 2013 E3 debacle basically cost them the dominance they had the previous generation. It took them a long time but MS has finally pulled their heads out of their asses lol

I really liked the Kinect. It wasn't perfect but I enjoyed it. Microsoft should have never gave up on it. When I got the Xbox one i could not wait to play Golf with the Kinect but no golf games got released that use Kinect. If Microsoft had not given up on Kinect we might have a Kinect golf game.

Enjoy how everyone forgets the proto kinect was on the ps2. It literally was just a camera that put ya in the game and ya played by moving your hands, upper body, and head. It was good for young kids but very limited I laughed when sony instead of just developing more they made a Wii knock off and Microsoft was the one who developed it fully.

They didn't. I had zero problems. I've moved many times, sometimes living in shitty apts or trailers. And all it took was some adjusting and finding the right lighting. Now live in a better home and it's still being used

I used the voice commands more on the Kinect than the actual camera. Skyrim, Mass Effect, and Battlefield 4 had voice commands that I used all the time. Plus the voice commands for pause or playing a video was very convenient.

Kinect was effectively dead after the twofer of Steel Batallion: Heavy Armor and Kinect Star Wars, which proved that the technology had no business being used for anything except shovelware minigames. Unfortunately, Microsoft didn't get the hint, and doubled down on it with the Xbox One, with (initially) disastrous results.

The kinect failed for two principle reasons: The first was that microsoft got a big head about the 360 version due to the sales, and immediately started pushing pro-publisher anti-consumer features. The second was that they never marketed much of any virtual assistance like Apple, Amazon, and Google. The most I recall being able to do from commercials was turning the xbox on and starting a game. What should have been a central, voice operated entertainment center that also had motion sensing capabilities got a bad reputation, and microsoft decided to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Full body tracking with oculus in vrchat. There is a market for the kinect. Update it and sell it as a motion tracker. Current forms need direct facing. If updated there is $ to be made there. Vive trackers are $100 each and you need 3. This could have the possibility to be comparable but with no support it will not happen. Oculus will likely integrate the quest tracking system into the rift 2. HTC will do something different with the vive 2 as well. It really is interesting to see how timing can affect a product so heavily.

That one adventure game that came with it. Power Rangers Samurai with my son. Just bought that horror game from the flea market. And Dragon ball z. We really needed more games. I love t hst thing. I've never had a problem with it cause...i u understand directions lol I've stayed in shitty apts, and trailers and recently moved into a nice home with my family. It's all about lighting and the reflection of that lighting. I'm dark so I had to have light from all angles for it to see ,e best, and sometimes use the magnifier for closed in spaces. And wear a light shirt, but not white cause then the light would reflect too much and my face would be unrecognizable. My white friend needed less light..obvoiously the reason being lol And had to use real bulbs vs energy saver bulbs when playing in a trailer with cause the energy savers had low weak lighting. So,e days I had to open blinds and some days had to keep them somewhat closed.

I dont know man, i think kinect was the most underrated piece of tech. Honestly i enjoy it more than wii. I still keep my 360 to play kinect sport, and othe fitness games. Its not super accurate but actually quite responsive, more ease to us than wii or ps move, more interactive and cheaper.

I still use mine though now the functionality is pretty much dead. I miss the hands free functionality and the fitness apps. Playing Alien isolation was great with the Kinect. The alien could "hear" sounds picked up by the Kinect so roommates and pets could lead to instant death. The peep function was fun though.

Skyrim for the Xbox 360 used the Kinect the best way I’ve seen. The thing is, Skyrim was the only game I was willing to use it with. Would’ve loved if they added the same features from the Kinect on the remastered versions for the newer consoles.

We should start a petition for Microsoft to bring back Kinect with Series X. Kinect 3.0. Now with the Coronavirus all kids are staying at home, and they probably will stay at home for another year. I've already connected my Xbox360 with Kinect 1 and my daughter is playing my old games, and she's loving those games. It's not like she can go out and play any real games, Kinect is THE ONLY solution for a kid to be fit while staying at home and doing the "social distancing" thing. Well, not the only solution, Wii was the original, but we don't want kids to handle 2 controllers and break our TVs, do we?

What a shame. Kinect was magical. My kids still love the motion games on xbox 360 and wii. They love to jump around an act silly instead of the tv and we always have a blast. It's too bad gaming companies decided that video games are not for kids.... everyone is more worried about the next super HD 8K online multiplayer full of micro transactions than fun games the whole family can play. I cant barely find any two player games that are not online. Good luck trying to find 4 player games that you can enjoy with the kids.

the PS2's EyeToy may not have been that much of a thing and only had a handful of games....BUT Keep in mind that its from the early 2000's,2002 or such! so the Kinect was merely a followup, 8 years later and with, obviously; better technique and such. besides that, the movement-connection of the kinect really lacked moderate functioning. It took them a long time to have it work properly. Saying that the Kinect is one of a kind is absolutely ironic, as the EyeToy really started it, had a few fun titles but just has been discontinued way too quick without actually sticking to the idea.

@@Mr_Deku_Scrub_ it's good. I've never had any problems. Ive lived in shitty apts, shitty trailers...all it took was some adjusting, which they clearly tell you how to do. Then you had to look at things as they are...im a black mf. DARK. Low light..energy saving bulbs just w asnt going to do it for lighting. I had to use regular bulbs, or open the blinds in a way. While my white wife could get away with a few lights on, I had to have light from each side to highlight my face. And NOT wear a white shirt. The reflection blurred my face out. It took all of a few minutes to understand the problem as your Kinect straight up tells you why it can't read. Or hear you. So..besides the connection problem people complain about, that they could easily fix..YOU tell ME what was the problem. Zero problems is what I had. What killed it was OBVIOUSLY people not wanting to move. I have sisters who hates the Kinect also. They are also lazy in some aspects. They loved the Wii and you know how they play the dancing games? They sit on the couch and flick their wrist...and actually get high points. Vs the Kinect where ou need to actually do moves and memorize or follow patterns with your WHOLE body. People are lazy. So that's some big points off. Because People were lazy, they really couldn't tell whether to gear games towards adults, teens, or kids. So they were all over the place. That's why the games were mostly so tame compared to what I thought they should've been. So that killed off others like me who wanted MORE in their games. So now...we have a geoup complaining about connectivity..which could be fixed...but a complaint is a complaint Then you have lazy people talking shit on it, discouraging others from buying Then you had hardcore gamers who never got what they wanted...and I say thsts truly thanks to those who complained or was just lazy. It's not that Kinect was bad. It's that people are incompetent or lazy and in the world where everyone is connected to media and words travel everywhere faster and make a bigger impact THAT'S what killed it off Like Megyn Kelly being kicked off that show
