Journalism WAS important for Democracy. But that was "journalism" - this is not what we currently have - we have Activism dressed up as reporting (and without balanced investigation e.g., only interviewing those who agree with the intended narrative.) - and selective reporting at that. We also have opinion dressed up as reporting and journalism.

I’d almost go as far as saying that Willie Jackson was more qualified to be broadcasting minister after hearing that interview. She must have got that placing for nearly taking the Mt Albert electorate in the last election. Cant think of any other reason. Clearly a total lightweight. Well the other week my father in-law said I should ‘listen to the Platform ‘ and I said “ what is the platform “ and he said “it is news that is not controlled by the government so they aren’t bound by regulations “ I said isn’t that a bad thing because it basically means they can say anything they want without any repercussions “ and he said no it’s good because the government cannot dictate what they say, well of course I am right, but ever since that conversation the platform has come onto my feeds, I wonder if my phone was listening to me…
