I can relate to what your saying, and you have my sympathy. I just turned 70, have had both knees replaced, and working on a hip. You are 100 % correct and no truer words have you ever spoken, in reference to dealing with insurance. And you were also right, that subject coukd go on for a week Get yourself put back together, even if the PT , beforehand is a waste of time and delays the inevitable. Do it to make ins. Co. happy, then get fixed correctly. Speaking for me, I bet most of your viewers would rather see you get this all behind you. Even if all you can put out is just an update on your condition. Stay strong, keep your faith, and as much as possible enjoy ( which you won't when you start the postoperative PT ) the downtime. Good luck . God bless and take care.

I am retired, and I can wait. Ive learned at 65 to be patient. I do not comment but really enjoy the knowledge. I have my 73 Mako 20 in progress because of your videos. Thank You in advance. As far as the shoulders, I wiped out mine at 53 yrs old, just a heads up if your arm tingles at any time have your doctor look at your ribs at the sternum, a lot of them miss this. It is where all the nerves run to the arms at your second or third rib. Ribs have a tendency to pop out or stretch the tendons at the sternum then pinch the nerves. I sought out an true osteopath to help me with it. No meds or surgery. Get better brother, you have a lot to teach.

Recently diagnosed with moderate arthritis in the left shoulder. Agree physical therapy was a waste of time and $400 of co-pays (which BC should have covered 100%). Physical therapy for me now is to continue with repairing the holes, gouges, scrapes, and deep scratches all over the hull of our Beneteau 43 Cyclades/Moorings. All was incurred from a hurricane banging the boat around against others. Then on to removing the 8 coats of hard bottom paint. Thank you Tylenol. And thanks Andy for all your info and tips on how to do the repairs!

I feel your pain Andy. Went through the same hoops with my hip. Three rounds of PT later I could actually get to the surgeon I needed. This was a three year process. In but of suggestion is when you are being evaluated make sure you say that the pain and dexterity is WORSE. If it’s the same or better you get another round of PT…. I didn’t know this and learned the hard way. Hope you get some relief soon.

I just recently had a surgery on my shoulder to include a torn bicep as well. I ended up getting so frustrated with insurance companies that I ended paying for the procedure myself. Not cheap at all! It had to be done either way and since the surgery I have been pain free. All's well that ends well I guess. Glad to see you're back!!

Blue Cross Blue shield? Go straight to ER, they put you through everything needed without the fight. That being said I don't go to hospital that often, just recently slipped on a roof, dislocated it and most likely more. Set it back myself, finished the job and went home, almost 2 months later still can't sleep on it without issues. I have had it from my mother as a child to now under my company. I never had an issue. Even with my knee when I was 17 with BCBS they didn't put me through that BS. The hospital however was another story, let's just say after a second opinion from a reputable hospital I had to go under the knife. Sorry you're going through all that but health is more important. Look forward to future videos from you about the boat build. You even convinced me to take on a boat project of my own. Videos to start soon

I know how you feel. I’ve had both of my shoulders, redone and bicep surgery from working on boats and crawling around in small places. My right shoulder was the worst one that one was really bad. I couldn’t even move it anymore so I had the surgery done, and it turned out perfect.

I bought a boatyard back in 1975. The first order of business was beating the prior owner's launch record. At 10 pm, launching my 15th boat, I took a header and dislocated my left shoulder... stupid. Orthopedic experts and one surgery later, I found the only thing that really helped was weight training. Find yourself a sports physical therapist and fight through every workout. It was the only way I got better and back on a foredeck, my natural habitat.

I feel for you, man. I had my dominant arm shoulder repaired in January (torn rotator cuff and bicep tendon). From surgery to release by surgeon was 4 1/2 months. Getting back to full strength was another 3 or 4 months. It was interesting figuring out how to get things done left handed and avoiding doing something my wife was going to say something about. One suggestion that I have for you is if they are going to work on your dominant arm, before the surgery try doing everything with your non dominant arm. I tried brushing my teeth the week before and about beat my mouth up. The next day I bought an electric toothbrush.

Rooting for you Bud. I've done the same, to both of mine, but here in the UK things move at similar glacial pace for different reasons. Shoulders are no fun at all. I ended up with a fusion after 10 failed surgeries. Hit the PT as hard as you can. You will need it before to help catapult the recovery. Best wishes

I understand how frustrating shoulder issues can be I had to jump through hoops like you are with the insurance company to finally have surgery to fix the issues. That being said that was almost 10 years ago and I only suspect the insurance companies have gotten worse. I will say it took a while after my surgeries before I was close to where I was before my issues

All best, Andy. Fingers crossed. 🤞💪 One test I think many would find usefull is how inprecise the thickened epoxy (the yellos/blue filling) can be mixed? Would 60/40 or even 70/30 (both ways) work? I have never experienced problem and the mix very forgiving - but I always doubt if my eyball is sufficient precise so would be great to know the outer limits. And what would be the symptons of a too incorrect mix. Just an idea. Greetings from a huge fan from Denmark 👍💪

Shredded my right bicep at 53 and had to do MRI with contrast, surgery and recovery time about 6 weeks, in my case repetitive motion as in washing a car will kill your shoulder, using torque for anything as in ratchets, wrenches, jar lids and some potato chip bags will feel like a knife embedded in your shoulder. Hope not the same case for you!

Physical therapy is such a joke. I went through the same thing with my back. I knew, the doctor knew and everyone else knew that PT wasn’t going to do anything, but Aetna requires it also. So I wasted a few hundred dollars and 12 extra weeks of pain because the insurance companies run the healthcare system. I hope you can get through it all okay and your surgery is successful.

The solution and prevention" you should give it a read but pretty much it's about doing a hanging regiment with light weight lifting to strengthen shoulders mostly the hanging does the magic work took me about a year of hanging to finally be almost 100% but avoided surgery. Wow, I'm the 9th comment. I understand your frustration. I was injured in 2017 from a fall and from being hung up on high x=voltage. It was a 6 year "Journey" and yes insurance company's are "Special" My wife of 15 yrs found a better deal and left while I was written out by 2 Dr's. So yes that was "special too" and the divorce too. And don't kid yourself, (most) Doctors are owned by insurance company's as that's where their bread is buttered. You are just a number and will run out soon, the insurance company will always be there for the Dr. with more that are just processed and put away. And insurance companies LOVE pt it's a joke and a trap in disguise set for the patient or "number" wish you the Best. :edit; He with the Gold makes the rules. This stands true for most things. especially insurance. also; I don't let anyone on my green 4720 either.

Cannot relate from a personal perspective. I am sailing a C&C_24 acquired last Spring from a guy who is dealing with the outcome of surgery on just one shoulder and in that respect... I understand he is looking at a recovery of a total of 9 months on one shoulder and if I got the 50% it means if all goes well it will be another years at the earliest for the second shoulder... I for one get that you could use an answer to prayer and you will have mine. Prayer for you will be triggered every time I think of him or the boat. God bless you... He moves me for you now and provides the desire and the power. 69 years the answers for others have come quickly... not so much for me as it is usually WAIT and TRUST. (W&T). Move the heart to of those involved to meet the need of Andy and his family. AMEN Join if you know the power of two or more. Out of 22K subs let's be a channel to move some hearts.
