Hey! Botanist here - absolutely LOVE the stuff you're doing this season, it scratches my brain so well lol. I want to give a quick tip for building: when thinking about how plants grow in a habitat, there's a pattern. Grassy and wildflower plains turn into bushy and shrubby land which then turns into forests over a span of hundreds of years. The location of these habitats also helps dictate the habitats that will grow around it. Think of it as like a plant gradient! Since this biome is relatively new and grows by spores (which are known to be fast growing), a potential way of looking at it is to have some places heavily populated by large mytreelium, with smaller tree spores surrounding it, which eventually goes smaller and smaller until you have just a dirt field sparse with many plants at all if its a very new or hot place :^) I hope this can maybe help you get a feel for where you want things to go or look like!

@@cencent2189I was thinking basically Lichens-colonial organisms with both plant (algae or cyanobacteria) and fungal cells living in symbiosis. They frequently use diaspores-the fungal spore cells wrapped around a smaller, inner, plant spore-to spread, and could plausibly evolve structures similar to trees with the right conditions.

Id like to offer the idea of a extra large (big enough to eat a hermit) pitcher plant. I think itd be good in a separate section by itself as if its pushed out the competing pitchers Also maybe a place in the walls where it looks like it can be opened to allow it to drive out not just making it fly everytime

As a Biologist, I can tell you that plants and fungi are very different types of organisms. It's odd to consider, but fungi are more closely related to animals on the evolutionary tree than to plants. However, that does not mean that there aren't really cool symbiotic relationships between fungal and plant organisms. I think if you baked into the lore that Mytreeliums are sort of like lichen, in that it is an organism that functions by multiple organisms living in symbiosis you could have a really cool concept! I imagine an organism that is a tree/plant that is comprised of a plant and fungus symbiotically living together. Maybe the plant provides the fungus with nutrients it can uptake from deep in the ground or from photosynthesizing (kinda like arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi) and in return the fungus helps to spread the plant pollen by way of the spores it produces, thus acting as a pollinator to the plant aspect of the Mytreelium!

You should definitely add little drones/rovers that are like drilling and taking samples of the different microbiomes and perhaps try and do some kind of phosphoric gass like rusting one rover, disabling it and slowly being a part of it ... Perhaps adding a dark side of the lore and also history (since the rover has been there for a long time) Love the fog and the truck.

Just a thought - the dirt around all the buildings make it look like the ground was displaced when the Gigacorp buildings landed there! It really helps separate the alien nature of your biome from the buildings. More lore!

i would like to suggest taking a look at slime molds for ideas for your biome. they come in some pretty wild colors and shapes, and despite not having a brain, can keep time, navigate and learn patterns.

Having some dirt and bits along the wall could give the idea that patrols or checks of sorts go on along the wall from time to time, forming a bit of a "used" patch from being walked on, rather than a more settled area like the packed mud, especially with a man-made structure meeting a natural landscape. It would look like a pretty cool small transition from the wall to the packed mud. Hope this helps, the biome is looking pretty awesome

Random fun plant fact: Back when life was first starting to flourish on land, all plants used spores! Seeds did not come around for a very long time afterwards. Also, the oxygen levels concentration was so high that everything git kinda supersized (bugs and plants for example) and the trees could get up to 100 feet tall! The Mytreelium kinda remind me of prehistoric plants My source: Lindsay Nicole on youtube. She's a zoologist that has made a ton of videos about prehistoric life on earth. Shes also funny.

Yes, historicaly one of the most dominant plants in the Carbonic Era were massive ferns such as Calamites or the cordaites which use spores to reproduce instead of seedlings. So the most appropriate name of descendents 03:20 would be gametophytes!

Give your Gigatruck an impact crater with treads leading out to the Gigatruck! If the impact is deep enough, you can fill the bottom with custom “lava”(maybe slime blocks?), and show what your biome looks like underground.

The trees are dropping Spores and not every green spore grows into a tree. It's a very rare occurrence for the tree to populate because it needs fertilization from the torch flowers when in bloom, at a specific time of the year, under certain weather conditions. But the trees are always producing the spores because that's what they do. If the spores don't grow into trees, they just turn to a mould type fungus, the green/blue tuffs of grass looking fungi.

Sporophytes! That’s what you can call the small mytreeliums :] IRL Every plant produces spores, much like fungi; if you’re looking a tree that’s a sporophyte - it produces spores within its reproductive structures that grow into microscopic gametophytes which then produce traditional gametes. But I feel like sporophyte is just a perfect word for the ‘seedlings’ of the funky fungi-tree situation you’ve got!

When Ren was going over all the microbiomes, it almost makes me want to properly learn how to do the datapack biome/dimension stuff, and kinda create a full dimension with proper scale biomes made out of these, have "GigaCorp Cities", looking like they've attempted colonization of the desolate planet, with villagers and stuff (or maybe modded mobs for it, idk, I'm rambling thoughts) Would be really interesting to see a whole dimension that fully feels like the base, would be fun to visit it with mods like TARDIS Refined or Cobblemon too

Ren, fantastic job as always. Your sulfur lakes remind me of toxic looking hot springs similar to springs found all over Yellowstone National park. I think you could increase the pools size and surround it with many smaller springs of varying height. Very neat.

Loved the new Micro biomes. An idea I got while you stepped on a wither flower while walking was that the swamp should maybe be poisonous which would add to the lore as well. You can maybe use puffer fishes underneath the swamp to kind of simulate the area being poisoned and dangerous to breathe in. It would also be nice if you could change the milk buckets to a custom item related to giga corp. Maybe an antidote for the harsh environment. I think it would tie well with everything else.

The idea of having ren go a little crazy as he breathes more spores gave me the idea of making the rest of the gigacorp infrastructure also fall into disrepair and such. Turning the base into a sort of "failed quarantine zone". It would explain the biome expanding beyond the walls in the lore too.

In addition to the extra dirt edging around the wall, you may want to add a little bit of the micro biomes that also made it to the wall edge. Perhaps somewhere even finding a way to escape alien the biome into the world... like an invasive species...

I live very close to an arid biome. Sparse the foliage in the dirt lining of the wall more. The waste biome should have just very few foliages. Im loving this whole project!!

As always the video is very inspirational and has left me with some really cool ideas, here's one of them, feel free to use it/borrow things from it if it aligns with the vision you have for your base: I would like to see a system of underground tunnels and caves with their own, unique fauna and flora located underneath the biome. I imagine a giant, lush, cavern, there's all sorts of plants growing there, in the air you can spot some insect-looking critters (I imagine these caves are mainly inhabited by insects, could be made using armor stands) , maybe some giga corp drones as well, there is a huge sulfur waterfall (and possibly a few more of the smaller variety) which falls into a river that leads to a large lake in the middle of which is a small island. Of course it would only be one of the many caves, though they wouldn't always be this big. Venturing into these uncharted depths is one heck of an adventure for the freshly arrived colonists!

I love the sulfurflora marsh cave thing and I think it would be great if you extend it to go an underground cave that has a tall sulfurfall onto the cave floor or even aquifer made of the sulfuric liquid. Which can make the cave have it microbiomes similar to what you have on the outside surface level.❤

Just an idea to consider. Put a pufferfish hidden in the middle of the Poison Glade Micro Biome. Or occasionally spit up a Poison lingering potion in the middle of the biome. Just to add a physical element to the Biome.

You can try green protrusions inside the wall, and marked with "danger" signs , as it is unnatural to the alien biome. It will make the wall blend better from the top
