What these lights are on my Toyota

In this video I cover what the 4 lights mean that appear on your instrument cluster. The 3 of the lights are triggered when either you Check Engine Light (CEL) or ABS light appear on your instrument cluster. This is a Toyota safety system to disable the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Active Traction and Control (A-TRAC). For FJ Cruisers, Tacomas, and 4Runners, this is fairly common to happen when either the CEL or ABS light appear.

Thanks for that bit of info! I suddenly have alllll of those on my gs300! I put big tires on, eurolines with 245/45/19’s (2mm clearance to upper ball joint stud) on and new control arms/ball joints and in the process i left out the pin on the lower ball joint in the passenger side and it came loose doing a shakedown test arpund the block and the lower half of the knuckle came off and the car landed on a brake rotor and that suspension movement probably snapped my abs wire to my spindle. Thats probably why I have it, lol.

I have had those lights come on a couple of times since I’ve had my Fj since September 2023. They came on when I was sitting in a drive thru and then they went off.

One day after I went from stock to larger tires, my ABS and related lights came on. Coincidence? Scan said Left Rear ABS Speed Sensor. Changed it. Lights stayed on. Tried to clear lights with scanner, that didn’t work either. Thanks for another video!

Oh yeah I have exhaust leak right in the joint where the last segments bolts in. Hmmm maybe I should finally seal it.

Hello legit fj have the same lights come on on my 2007 FJ automatic 2wd when I was driving on the freeway except that I have a extra light on the right side a red one for that back axle differentials the red light that looks like a little sticks when I turn going 5 or 10 miles an hour at the back wheels skid had a Diagnostics done at auto zone looks like abs do you have any extra info it would be helpful thank you. It's difficult to say. If yours was a 4wd I would say that your differential buttons are engaged when they shouldn't be, but since it's a 2wd I don't know

It's a scam to light your dash. It actually disables the VSC for any check engine code. An exhaust leak has nothing to do with VSC. The NHTSA should be all over this as a safety issue protecting consumers. It should only disable VSC when related to braking or steering issue.

I agree fully. I haven't seen any other vehicle disable the stability controls when a Check Engine Light comes on

My fj applies brakes when i try to drive it...vsc turns on and I cannot go anywhere...

Is there a way to disable all the warning lights for good? Seems if you simply perform regular services, these lights are just annoying reminders of things that won't ruin your car anytime soon, but they will fill you with angst and fret while driving, constantly nagging you like you're the problem, not the car. Currently all of mine are on and covered with black electrical tape.

The roof rack on your Toyota what is the make and measurements? plus the mounts you have for holding it. the stock rack is completely useless

I've sold that roofrack (bought a gobi) and I can't make measurements anymore, but I do have the measurements in an older video "DIY automotive roof tank". All I can tell you is that it is an ARB roof rack

For past 2 years the vsc and trac off stayed on could not fiqure it out and i was determined not to pay someone i own autel scanner i paid ove 1k for it because of all the things it dose and plus i own 8 different vehicles this help me diy not pay a shop anyway i plug and got more faults that a cheaper unit will not pickup i have a Magnuson supercharger on mine i installed over a year ago i never got the full benefits of this supercharger do to the check engine and vsc/trac off i had knock sensor issue that did not show up on the cheaper scanner what sucks i had to remove the supercharger and lower intake manifold and water components under the throttle body then you cover your ports and cut the 2 welds and pull out big tube turn out there was a nest of something And wire was chewed thru so i replaced wiring harness and both knock sensor, i thought this fix the vsc nope , brake light came on turn out to be bad switch once i changed that wow all light went away no more check engine oh yeah the Variable Timing Solenoid Was bad you have to be very careful working around them i suggest you unplugged them and remove them to give tou more room there not cheap depending where you buy them now my supercharger is totally has live up to its name and my fuel mileage has improved if you take Toyota fj cruiser to dealer to get a 10 minute repair on knock sensor its a 20 hour job they remove your head but if you do it like most diy it's a 2 hour job due to taking tour time removing the components in your way i took my water pressure clean that are really good have a very good scanner can really help you fix your vehicle now i feel i can go on a long road trip

It doesn't have a full name and brand. There are many of these on Amazon and eBay. This is just a Bluetooth transmitter that plugs into your diag port. The torque app (or equivalent obd2 app) does all of the work.

On the left bank coming off of the cat to the y pipe. Toyota changed my cats at 80k and overtightened one of the nuts so the threads started to strip when I went to remove it to change my clutch. I've since repaired it by adding washers under the nut so they are still holding on to the good threads on the stud

It was 15,16,17 bucks. That’s a lot of bucks
