That hole is to access the gas port electronics without removing all the carpet. Theres also a manual release for it if for some reason it gets stuck closed.

another fun fact: there’s a handle to open the trunk from the inside that we all know is government mandated so you can’t kidnap someone in your trunk, but in the brz that handle glows in the dark!

What is the round thing on the passenger side dash up close to the windshield? There's not one on the driver's side.
@relatablerides Жыл бұрын
That's the ambient light sensor for the automatic headlights. In most cars that have it it's mounted right in the middle of the dashboard, funny enough I only realized it was on the passenger side when I tried putting my front plate between the dashboard and the windshield on that side 😂

Wonder if that last clip with the panel that can be removed, could be a space to route aftermarket cabling or something similar? Like for a different speaker system, accessories, etc.

First of all, great video! Secondly, and this may sound like dumb question, but what's the purpose of changing the G-Meter to 0.5? Does it make the car any faster?
@relatablerides Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! So the G-Meter gauge doesn't actually change anything with the handling dynamics of the car, it just changes the scale of how many G's you're pulling. If you're just rolling around town and you're trying to drive as smoothly as possible, you can put it in 0.5 G and keep the lines as close to the center as possible. Alternatively, on the track you can set it to 1.0 G and push the car to it's limits, and get the statistical backing from the gauge cluster. Pretty cool feature to have!

Nice video, also genuine question but why add the ebrake if the cars an auto on a flat surface?
@relatablerides Жыл бұрын
Just good practice. I always use the ebrake to park any car I drive just as an extra precaution to make sure it's not going anywhere. It's also a better way to stop the car from moving, as it stops the car from the wheels directly rather than the P gear stopping the car from the transmission end. Additionally, I haven't experienced this in any other car but in the GR86 when I don't pull the parking brake the transmission feels like it doesn't want to shift out of park the next time I drive it (It's stiffer than when I pull the ebrake). It's a minor thing, I'm sure it won't be the cause of any long term damage but it's a smoother experience for me to pull the ebrake when parking.

i guess it's ipod compatible if you use an 1/8" cable plugged in to the aux port? screw apple though. they're like the not sees of computing devices. I use a hifi-walker H2 with a 400GB sd card for my hi-res audio needs. it's even got gapless for stuff like Pink Floyd albums or dj mixes that are basically one long piece of music and having a gap and/or beep between tracks ruin the flow of the album. but back to the topic at hand my uncle has a few yr old corolla and it works fine with his apple junk. You may need to check and see if there's a firmware update for your infotainment system. toyota's had a lot of problems with their blue tooth stuff and there's even a class action lawsuit over it. been a while since i looked in to any of it being its not my car. but you may want to check.
@relatablerides Жыл бұрын
Yeah the 1/8" cable would work, but that'd work with any device (and on top of that you'd have to change the audio source on the car to aux, so it's not even technically ipod compatible as much as it is aux compatible). I realized after I posted the video that toyota might be referring to the ipod touch models, the ones that run iOS for that kind of compatibility. I'm a bit of an audiophile myself, though I've yet to invest in the proper equipment. Right now I'm running KZ ZSN Pro's coming out of a basic usb-c to aux DAC to play FLAC files (another thing I didn't note but should have, the GR86 actually will read and play FLACs loaded on the USB!). But yeah I don't think toyota's gonna be pushing a software update to support ipods that have seemingly been out of date for quite a while now. I do appreciate the idea though, and you taking the time to leave a comment! I'm definitely gonna check out the hifi-walker H2 now that you mention it, if I do end up picking it up I'll let you know what it's been like for me.
@XX-121 Жыл бұрын
@@relatablerides oh wow, didnt know that toyota supported flac, that's good to know. hopefully everyone will get around to supporting it as there's really no need for lossy mp3 in this day and age. just in case you do pick up one of those players, i got my micro-sd card directly from sandisk's website so i knew i didnt end up with a counterfeit one as they've been known to make the rounds on ebay and even amazon. and even though it says it only supports up to 256 gb i can tell you it def works with the 400's. anyway yeah let me know if you get one. there's no reason to spend $800-$3500 on some of those other hi-res players when we have this. that and you can just drop your files on the sd card no need for special software (itunes) to go through file conversions and sync stuff just to put your tunes on the player. ✌
@relatablerides Жыл бұрын
@@XX-121 Yeah it came as a surprise for me too, all the other cars I've tried to load with FLAC music on a USB drive is just not recognized at all. Shame that the factory speaker system isn't super great, even in the premium with the two additional speakers the quality just isn't comparable with some other models. Regardless, with an aftermarket upgrade and FLAC music you can have a pretty great experience audio-wise in this car (if you can get over the road and wind noise, that is). I've heard about that, I haven't bought any SD cards lately so it hasn't been on my radar too much. I've been using my iPods for music listening when I'm not on spotify in the car, and I've found that loading up iTunes with apple lossless-formatted music delivers a fairly good experience, but I'm definitely in the market for something a tad bit better. I might just pick one of those bad boys up in the coming weeks, if I do I'll let you know! Thanks for the tip about the storage capacity as well, my music library isn't that big at the moment but with FLAC files it sure can fill up quick. I appreciate it!
