What to do during a long layover in Istanbul? | Turkish Airlines Transit Tour

My flight is scheduled to arrive at Istanbul Airport at 7:30 AM. Could you please advise if it's feasible to join the 8:30 AM tour, considering my flight arrival time? Is one hour sufficient for clearing immigration, collecting luggage, and reaching the tour departure points?

This cuts it very close. It depends on exact arrival time (whether there is any delay) and line at immigration at the time of arrival.

Hi! Thank you so much for those details. I am planning to get the evisa for this tour during transit. Does time affects the tour cause i will be at the airport at 2 PM & websites shows that the bus will leave at 12 PM for the trip (for entry to sites and all). Thank you!

You will need to arrive to IST at least an hour before the start of the trip to make time for passport control.

Hi, I’m planing to transit via Istanbul too… would like to knw what happens to the checked-in luggage as I transit Istanbul? I will be travelling with 2 children therefore don’t want to fuss around huge luggages to the tour and back again to check in. Please advice?

If you are in transit at IST airport then you don't need to do anything about your luggage as it is taken care of by the airport luggage staff who will transfer it to your connecting flight

My tour didn't come with meal. But if they say they will, I think they will.

Did you book plane ticket from Turkish airline website? I booked from irctc will I get it?

No, I used a travel agent for the booking. I'm not sure what irctc is...Sorry

Hello! Is this the sight seeing tour (0800-11:30) or the half day tour (0830-1500)? I have a lay over in Istanbul for 10 hrs same as yours. Arrival 0550 and departure 1645. I want to take the half day tour but not sure if I can make it on time since it ends at 1500. Are you at the airport by 1500? Thank you!

This is a 3-hour tour, although it ended sooner than 11:30am. If you take the half-day tour, you will be at the airport before 1500 for sure.

Not sure if you can get visa on arrival. I applied for Turkish evisa which was a very easy process.

Hello! Your layover time was basically the exact same as mine will be. I am not of a nationality with visa-free requirements to enter Turkey, however. Do you happen to know if I were to choose a tour with the stated time within my layover period, would Turkish Airlines guarantee I make my connecting flight at the gate on time-even accounting for customs / passport control and airport security check going back to my gate? Or would a stated 5.5-hour tour, say, still not be enough to guarantee from Turkish Airlines I will make it back to Istanbul Airport on time?

The airline will check your connecting flight and make sure you have enough time. If something happens on the way, they will rebook you on a later flight.

I think so but getting Turkey e-visa is a quick and painless process.

I stored mine in the Turkish Airlines lounge.
