Great advice to potential lottery winners. Up here in Canada, one can buy tickets online so there is no paper ticket and lottery authorities email you about your win. The winnings are tax free although the biggest jackpots here reach $60M so not as high as the US powerball jackpots. I’ve always known I would win a huge lottery…I found this channel and saw this video when I was thinking of what I will be doing with my winnings. The funny thing is that this particular video is the length of my “lucky” numbers. I see these numbers multiple times a day. I’ve seen them most of my life, but over the past two months I have seen them every single day in various places and several times daily. I’ve been through a lot, losing my job as a Registered Nurse due to mandates, so I know that respecting myself and others is a part of this reality moving towards me quickly. Timothy, I've only had 2 dreams in my life that were so real it's hard to describe them. One was after my grandpa died and one was me winning the lottery. The next 2 days after the lottery dream a couple synchronicities happen showing me it was no coincidence. Last weekend I saw 777 on 4 license plates and on a couple mailboxes in one day. 2 weeks before that I found a fortune cookie wrapper in my front yard. Seconds after I picked it up a guy walked by telling me his dogs name was lucky. I then realized two doors down from me my neighbor had just painted her front door green and was hanging a wreath on it. On the wreath there was a horseshoe and a four leaf clover. I guess you've heard the saying a lucky horseshoe before? All three things had to do with luck and blew my mind. Did you have any signs other than your dream before you won? Thanks

That's super interesting! You never know; anything is possible! Thanks for sharing. With me, I didn't have any other signs that I recognized as such, other than that I kept winning a color-coded card game the night of the drawing. I'm partially color blind, so I found that sort of remarkable. It could have been mere coincidence, but it was strange. I've interviewed other lottery winners though who claim to have been given multiple signs prior to winning. It's interesting!!

I just won a multimillion value jackpot. I've been on the internet all night (it's been 7 hours since I found out). It is now 3:37 in my country and I am LOSING MY MIND. I have no idea where to start or what to do. I contemplated calling family and friends but my common sense keeps telling me to wait a while before I say and do anything. I've beeb searching for videos that might help me navigate this and let me tell you my mind is running 100000000 miles an hour. I can't focus it feels like I'm having a panic attack every 10 minutes. Anyway, thank you for your video. I just know my life will never be the same ever again. I think I'd disappear for a while right after winning, getting my bearings straight and make a plan on what I want to do. I'd pay off all my debts and invest 90% of it and maximize my returns + monthly budget. Some will be probably given to close family and help out close friends based on my monthly budget... oh and if anybody/any organization writes me/calls me/asks me for money those are the ones that will not see a penny from me.

It all depends on how much I win. I've probably thought about this a bit too much considering the unlikelihood of it actually happening but it'd be something like: 500k to $1mil I'd mostly keep to myself to buy a house or investment property. Invest the rest. I don't think I'd give away much. Maybe 10k to each immediate family member. I also probably wouldn't tell them exactly how much I'd won - this would be most difficult, I think. With $2mil probably the same as with $1m but perhaps another investment property and giving away slightly more money. $5mil or more I think I'd consider paying off mortgages for immediate family members provided they're not indebted more than $500k or so. Luckily, my family is small haha. Pay for a knockdown/rebuild of parents home. As greedy as it sounds, I think what would always be in the back of my mind would be to make sure my money was working for me. Furthermore, I'd probably try and live off the interest rather than the capital itself. For example, if I won $10mil and invested $5mil in real estate, stocks etc...conservatively I'd make a 2% return or 100k (I'm probably severely underestimating the return but I think that's preferable than overestimating). After tax, that's $70k or ~$1350/wk depending on where you live. To me, once you consider you don't have to pay a mortgage, that's more than enough to live comfortably. I'm not sure what I'd do with more than $10m. After a certain point, the number of millions starts to become unfathomable as you start entering another echelon of wealth beyond the realms of just living comfortably.

When I win, first off, no one is knowing except possibly a lawyer and obviously the lottery headquarters place. Then, after everything’s taken care of (which I have questions about but I’ll make another comment thread for them.) and I have received my money, I’d be opening up at least 4 other bank accounts with 4 different banks. If I haven’t already. And separate the money between them. (Because if one of those banks goes bankrupted or whatever, I don’t want to lose all but $200,000.) And I would label my total of 5 cards with: “F” for Food related items, “V” for Vehicle related items, “H” for House related things, “S” for subscriptions like Netflix or something, and “R” for random (anything that doesn’t fall in the other categories.) Then I would probably tell my family that I live with, that a friend wants me to house sit for them, and in that time I’m there, I’d buy my own house, invite my friend to move in with me (with ground rules such as no asking me to buy them a bunch of things, and if they make plans for us, they’re buying. If I’m the one that makes plans, I’m buying. And much more), bring anything from my current house that is a need (things like toothbrush and toothpaste, the few clothes I have) to my new house, then I’d stay there for awhile while I think things through more. Then I’d set up an appointment with one of the banks to take out about $3,000,000, then I’d go back to my old house (with my mom and stepdad) and give $1,000,000 to each of them with some heartfelt letter to each, and then $5,000 each to the 3 sisters that are also living there, and $10,000 to my brother that’s living there (more money because he’s older. Actually just graduated high school). Then I’d give about $200,000-$500,000 to my dads side of the family. And yeah, I have like, 8 siblings living in that house, but I’m not super close to that side of the family and I know that some of that money is gonna end going to things like weed. So they don’t get as much. Also not gonna let them know it’s from me. I’m just gonna bring in a box with a letter and say that it was just sitting on the porch, because I know, that side of my family will end up asking for more money. Then, It may not be the best idea, but I’ve decided that I will go around my hometown and another town I lived for awhile, and put about $5,000 inside of envelopes with a letter saying something about how we all need some help in life and that I hope that it helps them, even if just a little. Then leave it under people’s car windshield wipers that are parked at Walmart or something or even just by peoples front door. Then hide because I’d want it to be anonymous. (Also in hopes that no one would find out its me because in my state, anonymous isn’t an opinion). But that would only be able to be done for one day because our town has a Facebook group for rants and raves, and when word got out, there would most likely be a scavenger hunt for the envelopes. But after all that, I’d make a couple more big house purchases, a few vehicle purchases, and that would be just about all the big purchases I would make. Most of my money after that will be put in bonds or something to gather interest and if possible, I wouldn’t spend more than what I make from interest.

Wow. You've really thought this through! Thanks for sharing your plan. I definitely recommend getting a financial advisor if you happen to win the lottery. If you suddenly come into wealth that you didn't have before, it's important to understand how much you can or can't spend and it can really vary depending on how much you win. Having said that, I love your plan and wish you good luck if you play! Never spend more than you can afford to lose because the odds are terrible, but you definitely do have a chance if you play!

My girlfriend and I would splurge on our wedding. We’ve had this fantasy of if we won the lottery for years. Ironically neither of us has ever even bought a ticket before I don’t think....she might have said she bought a few before but I know I never did. Anyway. Big and fabulous wedding. Buy a secluded house out in the sticks. Then....nothing. We’d take two trips a year around our birthdays but other than that we wouldn’t touch the money. We don’t plan on having kids and we can just enjoy easy life riding it out until the day we die. We wouldn’t hunger for a high life or lust after even more money. Anything over 10 million would allow us to live comfortably for the next 80 years. And that’s what we want. A comfortable life with each other.

@@TimothySchultz I wouldn't do it all right away though. I would invest the principle in a low cost index fund and do all of that with the income! It would allow me to catch up for years worth of lost productivity due to illness, and familial neglect. The key is to still live frugally. I am learning though, how to be better with money with what I have now so that when I win, I'll be lot wiser with how I invest and save. Thank you for your channel! Can you also do a video of how to even play the Powerball? It's confusing for beginners when there are tickets you can fill in numbers and tickets you purchase through a vending machine that pick numbers for you. It's also confusing how or when to check for numbers. I was constantly checking Google and never knew which day my ticket was for. Was my ticket for the Sat draw or Wed? Or is it both? So many questions.

Thanks for your comment and video suggestion! Yes, I can definitely do a video about that topic sometime. It can be confusing if you're not used to it. It depends on the game, but for Powerball and Mega Millions, it's drawn twice per week. You choose 5 numbers from one pool and 1 number from another or simply choose the quick pick, which is chosen by a computer. As I type this, it sounds complicated, but it's really not that bad. I'll try to make a video about it along with tips; thank you!

My big plan with my lottery winnings has always been to open a nonprofit rescue for pit bulls and rotties. I'll pull them from kill shelters and hire a trainer to help rehabilitate any that may have been abused or need some behavior issues addressed before finding their forever homes. I'll have a huge plot of land so I can take in as many as possible and have a large crew to make sure they all got attention every day. They will have a decent living space and time outside to play. It's always broke my heart how many die in shelters every day because of the stigma created by the media. There are no bad dogs, just bad owners. I'll also take care of my family of course, but the rescue is so so important to me. I'll also donate funds and possibly time...not sure on that one just because of how much rage this topic brings to me...to saving the dogs from the yulin festivals. What goes on there is absolutely terrible and the people that intervene and rescue dogs every year absolutely have my support.

This is a good idea, though I'd suggest maybe finding a financial adviser/planner on your own that is not recommended by your attorney. Having each of those entities be independent lowers the chances of any funny business in regards to your money, and is a better checks and balances system.

Hey Tim the problem here in the United states when someone wins the lottery they want be a movie star they want to be on television people around the world can see you are the lottery winner that's when the problem start people start calling you for money bla bla bla , let me tell you something if ever one day I'll win the lottery first of all i don't want to be on television , second of all I don't want people to know that I win the lottery I want to keep it quietly and another thing to I can get hurt this is my opinion this is how I feel thanks for the video cheers and hulaluia

I understand that one needs to get an attorney, tax accountant and so forth, but most people don’t have those, so one would need to find them; as far as trusting is concerned, it’d be difficult because we just met them; I and millions want to remain anonymous and only about six states allow one to stay incognito (that’s my biggest worry). I’d definitely move to some place far, but also want to help my loved ones and some friends, from afar.
