About Us.
Byther Farm is a small organic homestead, being designed and managed using permaculture practices. We aim for self-sufficiency in fruit and vegetables for increased self reliance and better resilience to the modern world. I recognise that we are unlikely to be truly self sufficient, but do the best we can. I share our home with my loving husband, Mr J and our cat, Monty.
We are a fifty-something couple who live on a smallholding in Carmarthenshire, Wales. We are going green and creating a gentler, cleaner and more healthy life for our family.
Having had a highly successful smallholding in Monmouthshire, we hope to recreate the abundance at our new home. There will be a large organic kitchen garden with no dig gardening raised beds and young food forest in which to grown our fruit and vegetables.
We keep a few sheep and Aylesbury ducks.
Music from Epidemic Sound.

Love it, you're absolutely right, you've gotta take time to enjoy the garden! I like the half hour at the start of every day, I call that doing the morning rounds to check in on everyone and everything in the garden 😁

Totally agree Liz about stopping and taking it all in. I often do it! I always go out first thing too, around 6.30am to feed the birds and just listen to nature. We're on a farm in the Scottish Borders and its so beautiful.

Lovely seeing a summer garden. Here in New Zealand it's winter and everything is growing much slower.

I like watching southern hemisphere videos during our winter for the same reason. It's good to remind ourselves that it won't be too long before the seasons change again. 🌼

I love the variety of beds and trellises. The tennis balls on each end of your pea trellis behind the rhubarb, brilliant! I try to do a walk through each morning and evening in my garden, it gives me joy. I do it for the same reasons as you : )

I took your advice this morning Liz and spent half an hour first thing in my garden and it was wonderful, especially after a little rain yesterday, there's something so special about being in the garden after rain. I have never grown rhubarb but have decided to give it a try and have ordered some and I've been looking around in my garden, finding young plants to move and fill in those spaces!

Love the new intro. Love the starting the day with half hour in the garden. I need to adopt the little and often mentality again I used to do similar last year but this year the garden is escaping me

The garden still seems very slow and behind here, it'll catch up by the end of the year no doubt.

It's tough doing a regular series. I started a different one at the beginning of the year, but then got covid and had to pause. I'll probably pick that one back up again next year.

I wonder if you could to a propagating video for summer? I’d like some free plants but I’m clueless when and what 😅
@LizZorab

I've created a propagation playlist for you. You'll need to check the time of year for each video (it will say at the start of the video on the screen or I'll tell you verbally) kzbin.info/aero/PLa6906pLM92kfMA4UKwI_dguXwdHLaktC

Can I ask what that beautiful red flower is (you’re deadheading at 4:16)? The auto-captions says “nausea” 😂, but I can’t make out what it is… beautiful colours!

I often do potatoes out and leeks in. Or brassicas for next spring harvest.

Liz, I am really saddened by your advertising a Game App??? Does not even have anything to do with gardening! There are too many ads and promo things all over already on youtube and the www. May now have to look somewhere else for gardening videos. Damn!

I make videos for a living, it's my job and as long as I do, I will continue to accept sponsorship of a few videos because that's how I can afford to offer free tutorials and information sharing. If you are fed up with seeing 'too many ads' on KZbin, you can stop seeing general adverts by paying KZbin a monthly fee.

Many of us don’t have the funds for subscription based channels so content such as Liz creates, free to view, is very much valued. If information about sponsors really offends it isn’t difficult to fast forward a few seconds! (Sorry Liz, not trying to detract from your sponsor, I will have a look at the game!)
