Thanks for the validation and shared info, i agree better not to pour water in engine when the car is overheating. Better turn off the engine and let it cooldown naturally, when cooled then remove the rad cap add coolant as necessary. Then turn on the engine let "bleeding process" or to removed trapped pressure or air pockets in the cooling system., when no bubbles observed then return rad cap. I believe it will be safe going home.
