Good tip! Can't tell you how many times I have found myself in those off fairway lies. Do love those golf courses where they are lined with trees that helps in taming my normally quick down swing with the result an accurate ball flight in those narrow alleys. Do like your calm swing tempo! My ego usually comes into play when I am playing from the trees.

I was glad to see that you didn't try to make a full swing near those tree roots. Hitting a hidden tree root with a full swing can end a golf season very quickly. When playing with friends, my group always says take a free drop, when there is a chance of injury.
