What to do when your cat/ dog eats something on the street/ part of a toy/ a chemical/ medication:

If you are unsure if you should be worried after your pet ate a chemical or medication, call ASPCA Animal Poison Control at 888-426-4435. Veterinarians with the most up to date literature and resources will help guide you based on your pet's weight, clinical signs, and health concerns.
-Foreign bodies: toys, string, rope, ect
-Toxins: plants, cleaning products, rat poision, ect
-Medications/ Drugs: marijuana, opioids, heart medications, ect
DO NOT make your pet vomit at home unless a veterinarian recommends it for your pet.
--risks: trauma to esophagus (tear or burn), aspiration pneumonia, choke

Iv been having this issue with my dog. I ended up muzzling him when he does it. I panic so much because he just goes into "I can't hear you" mode. He picked up what looked like a grape or cherry the other day I was tugging at his harness shouting telling him to drop it. To anyone walking past they must have thought I was trying to kill him! Thankfully he has been fine since. I just worry as he has such a sensitive tummy. I am extra vigilant now always watching a few steps in front and crossing the road if I have to (quiet side roads usually) as for toys and stuff hes usually quite good he will destroy but not eat. I banned ropes from indoors as they kept pulling them apart outside they play tug rope just fine without chewing them apart lol wierd dogs. My dog is the one reason I won't cancel my pet insurance! Hes eaten everything from a fly swat and flip flop to his surgical vest and gloves! Hes also a massive bin diver. You would think this boy never gets fed but hes perfectly fine just bad habits I been trying to stop hes slowly learning his lessons now hes turned 2 and touch wood hes gotten lucky so far! Despite all he has eaten. He did have massive gut issues as a pup for a whole year turned out he has an intolerance to chicken turkey and goose...birds basically. Since changing him to beef and fish and the other meats he's been so much healthier. Thank you for this video though its very informative!

I was cleaning up cat puke and saw red. I got scared thinking it was blood; and then saw he ate a sudafed that I must have dropped unknowingly. I didn’t know they can puke that fast from it.

I'm in quite the prediacament here. My cat was fine last night but this morning (early) I heard her gaging and throwing up. So I got up because whe never does that. Well she's puked like 5-6 times now and I found some pieces of a plastic shopping bag in her puke along with some of her fur. I have no idea where she got the bag from since there was nothing left around the apartment that was in a bag. I can't figure it out and I'm not sure how shes going to be while I'm at work today. I know this is going to sound bad but I don't have the money to bring her to the vet atm. Its about to be xmas I just spent a ton on xmas then this crap happens. Shes not hiding or being aggresive but shes not her on point usual self. Shes not really looking at me when I'm talking to her like usual. Shes walking around slowly too. I'm worried about her. We'll see if she eats at all today. If not and she doesn't get any better then I'll have to bring her to the vet. I'll have no choice. I just dont want to come home to a dead cat. Anyone else had this experience? When I was younger we had plenty of cats at my parents. Multiples at once and they were outside/inside cats so they did what they wanted and they were always fine. We lived up in the mountains/woods too. They were always fine no matter what happened. I figured if she was sick to the point of dying she'd be hiding from me. Shes just lying in her little bed next to the heater. Hopefully whatever she ate will pass and hopefully she puked up the worst of it. I brought out the wet food which she usually loves and cant wait for..well she wanted nothing to do with it. She did pee and poop this morning so that is good. Well let's hope all goes well. 🤞 Going to be a stressful day

@@ronnyjoe230 yes she is. Thank you for asking. I think it just upset her stomach but by that night and next morning she was back to herself. She just needed the day to bounce back I guess. It was scary for sure tho! Picking her up while shes in her cat bed still and she didnt even move really had me worried, but yep shes doing great! No issues since. Shes spoiled rotten!! 😊🐈

I am having the same issue but mine isn’t showing any effects He gagged a lil but other then that he is moving perfectly fine He did poo but it is possible he ate more again recently so i am scared We dont have plastic bags but i think he got his paws on juice box plastic wrapper that comes with the straws

@@bored9220 he should either pass it in his poo eventually or puke it up. Mine puked her's up and felt crappy for the day but bounced back quick! Mine also had raw bacon all over the plastic so maybe that helped upset her stomach or something I really don't know..I just know she looked like death. Cats are crazy resilient and I'm sure he will be just fine. If you get worries and for some reason he gets worse and stops eating/using the bathroom than definitely bring him to the vet. I think Mr. Kitty will be just fine though! Please let me know how he's doing. Hope he's ok!
