When my father was dying, our cat very quickly learned that he shouldn't try and sit or sleep on Dad. Instead our cat spent hours sitting next to him, with only the top of his head touching Dad's leg. Just, you know, to be there. When I got very ill a couple of years later, the cat quickly switched from being a super demanding "you must carry me around at all times" kitty to quietly being near me, just the top of his head touching. He was a wonderful old man, and I still feel privileged we were able to take him through his last days as lovingly as he took Dad through his.

"Cats don't care about humans" Cats spending their lives guarding your house (if you live in a place where you can leave them out at night) and yourself from other cats, bringing you their preys, hanging out with you, and choosing a single person or a few people in the house to sleep on (showing that they have preferences in who they like).

@@Rosiroo I have a new nextdoor neighbor that hates all little lives, I swear. No use for love, or giving it, outside of "his people", and I wonder even about that. He went so far as to threaten my cats lives. 😩 I look at my "dog-cat" following me, cat-talking or playing, sunning and purring, and wonder if some human bodies just lost their souls somewhere 😥 We have a huge outdoor space, my cat loves to keep close to me, and I've worked very hard to be outside WITH my cats, and limit or prevent their wandering the other yards. This guy just hates outdoor life, and had said so. I've given up on him. His beautiful yard of his new home is status ONLY to him. Dirty, rabbits and possums should be killed and kept from him, and only dealt with to dominate. Sometimes, hate is very difficult to avoid... 🤯🤬👹

I love cats and have two, but they are pests destroying the biodiversity and ecosystems when left to roam outdoors and kill "prey" so please be a responsible owner and put bells on their collars or keep them inside (ofc spay and neuter as well)
@geemcgraff82813 жыл бұрын

@KOKO-uu7yd3 жыл бұрын
@@kweeniepiez absolutely! They are both neutered, and to help keep them safe I walk WITH them. They are both leash and harness trained, but one will walk with me WITHOUT any leash now. He just wants companionship outside. Being with them also limits the neighbor's property exposure to their markings etc, too. I just know that, with two small kids, they DO get out sometimes. And chasing them has never ever worked for me. They just run, and then I can't help at all if something does happen, if i have no idea where they are. I also have a fenced "garden" area, HUGE, that I am almost done with. There is a basement window I'm making an access tunnel for them from. They'll be secure (fencing bending inside at angle, chicken wire they don't like climbing, it's a good system). And they can be outside more freely, but limited. I've looked at the wildlife and plant life for my city area, btw. There is nothing fragile left here, sadly. So, from an ecological perspective, I can't see a notable impact they will have there. Now, if that same neighbor (or another) starts to POISON rodents, that is very much a concern of a different sort! Also, when I walk them, I carry little bags just like a dog owner. It can be difficult to find their little "logs", but no one wants cat crap any more than dog crap. I'll be glad for the limitation on their peeing, though. We have ferals, so I know that whatever my cats hit, they are certainly not the first. But, still...😒 😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻

About 8 years ago when I was couch surfing at a friend's house, her cat Arya decided to sleep on my chest. And she immediately started purring; it was the most relaxing sleep I've ever experienced. For anyone who hasn't had a cat sleep on them, it's one of the most wonderful experiences imaginable.

I once stayed over at a friends house and she has 3 cats. I imagined they'd snuggle up in the night and I'd wake up looking like some sortof well-rested mother earth with 3 catbabies in her arms. Instead, one of her cats woke me up by staring at me, slowly climbing closer, onto my chest and holding his paw close to my face. I had a few seconds before he began striking and pulled the blanket up just in time. He kept clawing, over and over, but silently, like he was tapping my face with a claw. Nails were out, blanket tore. I hid and he kept going. He didn't look angry, he looked curious, but the sounds of the hooked nails in the blanket were really nasty, I wouldn't have wanted those in my face. I slept hidden under the blanket the whole night

I reached down and petted her (the others were busy talking). The cat jumped up into my lap. At that point the wife stopped talking mid-sentence and looked at the cat and said to me, "Wow ! That cat will not come close to any of us !" (Not sure if they had kids or not). Never knew what it was about me or the cat but I never forgot that. I also don't think she can be trained out of this cat chase at almost 7 years old. I only hope she'll stop one day. I do know that animals can bond with us and I love my dog so much and I've had her since she was 4 months old. She was guven away at the pet store I worked at and took care of her for a week and she was watching me even waiting for me to enter the store. Dogs are pretty much the same. Some breeds might have a few differences (ex: working dogs vs water dogs), but those are skill differences, not really personality differences. Cats are all different from each other, even within breeds. I've had several cats over my 60 years, even multiples of the same breed. (Russian Blue and Siamese), and no two kitties have been the same, personality-wise. They've each had their own unique quirks and ways of being.

My cat, who passed at age 17 back in August, spent 12 or so years being that "aloof" type of cat, kind of grumpy, but then I left for college. Mom said he was kind of listless and depressed that entire time. He only slept on my empty bed. I came home that first summer and all of a sudden he wanted all of my attention all the time. He became a cuddle bug. It was surprising to see such a change in him because he'd missed me so much. In his final months he couldn't get comfortable unless it was on my bed with me, in large part due to his arthritis, but I think also on an emotional level, where his body still hurt, but he felt safe and loved. He was always my good boy, but I really felt my love for him reciprocated in his final 5-6 years.

When my mother died, my cat, Pearl, started snuggling with me almost 24/7. She will lay on my stomach most of the day (whenever I'm seated), and when I would start to cry really hard, she would turn around and put her paw on my face and make eye contact. I know eye contact is serious business with cats and that paw to the face was such a meaningful gesture. My 2 cents: If you can afford it, when you have a terminally ill pet, spend the extra $$ to have the vet come to you & euthanize your cat at home. It was the best $300 I've ever spent when I had to put my sweet tabby girl down in March. I've had to make that awful drive to the vet alone in the past, then try to see through the tears to drive back home -- never again! When I had Sasha put to sleep, she was right there in my arms as the vet injected her with a sedative first, then the drug to stop her heart. Afterwards, I kept her body the couch in her usual spot for a few hours so my other kitteh could come over, smell her & realize that she was dead. The worst bit about taking a pet to the vet to be euthanized is when you come home with the empty carrier & your other cats are staring at it wondering what you did with their sibling. Having your babykins put to sleep at home eliminates that confusion & lets their siblings understand that their companion had died. Peaceful Passages was the service I used, but you can google a company that will send out a vet in your area. And expect your remaining cats to grieve for months, not weeks.

@alanac80043 жыл бұрын
@@freedomfighter4990 I completely agree. It's expensive though and I feel for the folks who can't afford it. Taking a car trip to an unfamiliar place is stressful for any cat, especially a sick one. Being able to stay at home where they feel safe and comfortable makes for a more peaceful passing. And like you said, if you have other animals or family, they get a chance to say goodbye and process the death. I so wish there was a free or affordable service for this. If anyone knows of one, post the link, I would love to donate. 💜

One of the greatest milestones after adopting an adult cat is when they accept you as a bed. It's a heartwarming process from under the couch, to under the bed, to in the bed under the covers (giving the human a heart attack when she comes home from work and can't find the cat she adopted less than a week ago seriously how does such a fat cat disappear in a locked apartment - wait how many pillows are under the cover and why is one of them breathing?) to finally sharing the bed and not taking constructive criticism on positions.

Yep. I lived in a basement apartment and the cat upstairs would occasionally, but rarely, visit me. He wouldn’t stay long when he did, as he was pretty independent. Well, one night I got a call that my mom had died and I raced back home to tend to her affairs. A few days later, when I returned to my city, as I opened my basement entrance, he was waiting there for me. He followed me in and didn’t leave my side as I unpacked etc When I got into bed, he laid by my side and cuddled close to me…he saw me through my tears and grief, spent the entire night with me (which he had never done before) and when I was a little more ‘together’ he gave me a kiss and left, heading back upstairs. But for a period of about 20 hours, he didn’t leave my side and comforted me as best as he could. He just knew somehow that I needed him. Unreal. ❤️

I have suffered from anxiety on and off since I was a child. A few months ago, I was going through a lot of stuff emotionally and didn’t know I was slowly slipping in a panic mode (I usually am good at noticing this and using grounding methods to get out of panic mode but not this time). My cat likes check how I’m doing throughout the day. This time he must have felt something different because he decided to lay down on top of me, all stretchy and a full dead weight. Never felt him weigh this heavily on me and he stayed that way all through the day and night. I had to use my arms to push him off me when a little nudge is all he usually needs. When I called my therapist to explain I wasn’t doing so well, felt my skin was too tight and that my cat didn’t want to leave my side and felt so heavy on me, she came to the conclusion that I was having some form of panic attack (nothing like the ones I’m used to having) and worked on another grounding technique I had never tried before (a form of mindfulness where observing the emotions going through my body, acceptance & letting go, and soothing the inner child). As soon as this exercise was done the cat left and went on doing his own daily routine and ignoring me the rest of the day until bedtime (and him getting a treat). I ❤ my cat even more now than I did before this episode. I’m thankful every day to have him in my life. He came into my life when I was at my lowest 15 years ago and we’ve been there for each other ever since. We’re two peas in a pod… a furry one and me, hopefully less hairy.

I finally took him in and he was a cuddle bug. When I'd sit in my recliner to watch TV he'd hop up on my lap and work his way up to my chest with his head near my ear and purr loudly to me. His first visit to the vet they asked me his name. It occured to me I hadn't giving him a name. I tilt them I always called him my little buddy. So his name became Buddy. He used to follow me around the house like a puppy. In the winter I kept the house pretty cool but I had an electric mattress pad on my bed. I'd leave it turned on low and he'd spend most of the day sleeping there. When I got home he'd greet me at the door. He was the most special cat I've ever had. cats are very present centered in how they see and think. As humans we are often future or past centered in our focus and how we experience time. When I first started fostering bottled baby kittens, it was immediately apparent how valuable having a "momma" with a heartbeat was to their sleep! I got a stuffed plushy with a mechanical heartbeat and added a mechanical purr machine and heating pad underneath and that thing was indispensable in getting them to relax and fall asleep between meals! They used to all snuggle in as close as possible to the source of the heartbeat before falling asleep. ♡

Greetings' I bottled fed my Tonkinese from two weeks old. My daughter at the time was 17 yrs old and brought Angel home . My daughter was like mom do something' we can't let her pass away. I was like crap what do I do? I was always a dog and horse person. I had to educate myself real quick on kittens. I ended up bottle feeding Angel until she was almost 3 months old. Angel was so tiny' I was afraid she wouldn't get proper nutrition without her bottle. I would always wrap her up in a blanket and place her on my chest. I'd wake up Angel would be sucking on my ear. LOL I always knew she was hungry then. When my daughter got married I was like no way is Angel going with you. LOL Angel from the moment I looked into her eyes was my love. Angel truly was one of my soul mates. I just lost Angel last week October 26, 2021. Angel was almost 21 yrs old. I'm not sure I could ever foster baby animal. I get so attached to them. They would definitely have a permanent home with me.. I can't be detached enough to be a foster mom. I truly respect the people who can be foster parents.

Same, I was such a cat hater during my childhood and early teens since I had bad childhood memories with cats, but then when I got older and got a cat, I love nothing more after that

Jackson, we adopted our first kitty this year - an adult cat who came to the shelter as a stray. I watched your videos religiously to make sure we gave our kitty the best life possible. I just googled "why does my cat sleep on me" because he snuggles with us every night and it felt too good to be true that he actually likes us... but your video validates that he's a happy kitty with a strong bond! Thank you for all of the guidance ❤ We now feel ready for cat number 2.

i have great relationships with people. wife, kids, coworkers, friends, the whole deal. but in all of that, i’ve never experienced a bond like i have with my kitties. very lucky to have these little souls in my life.

Cats are incredibly loving. That's what I've learnt when I was adopted by my cat :-D she has so many signs of love - you're right, for some reason the general consensus is a cat doesn't really love you. But, they totally do!!

Would my baby Shadow eat my face off when I die? Yes. But does she also love me? Yes very much. And I would die for her, hands down

@@bendietrees I know. Carnivores do that when theyre hungry and youre, ya know, just a pile of meat. Its just that non cat people use that as a sorta gotcha moment which is stupid
@mcmlxii44193 жыл бұрын
@@elvingearmasterirma7241 That's 100% correct! Non cat people always do that because they have nothing else to use against a cat.

I moved into a flat with a friend who owns a cat. Earlier this year the dog my family had for nearly fourteen years died, and I only ever lived with a dog - I know them well. But living with a cat was a learning experience with a different temperament. It wasn't that I didn't like cats, I just wasn't used to them. I couldn't read this little fella like I could read dogs. After googling, letting the cat get on with it and basically getting to know each other, this cat now sleeps by me most nights, sometimes lays on my chest purring when I'm reading and tends to keep me company most days. He's not even my cat, I've only lived here 2 1/2 months lol

Cats are like that though. That’s a part of what makes them so wonderful. Condolences for the loss of the family dog. (I ❤️ dogs too.)

Oh you’re a perfect cat type as well. Some folks are kinda borderline obsessive and comes off intrusive. And cats don’t like all that. They love a hooman with chill/respectful vibes.

I love the vibes of this channel! 😍 My cat used to punish me whenever I showed up at my place, which was once a year, as I lived abroad, she would warm up few days later, but when I got stuck in my hometown due to Covid, she got so used I'm there, she would wait for me in my seat for our daily movie or two, and would just chill, sleep, groom herself etc in my lap until I had to remove her 😍 she passed away at age 17 gracefully, I hope as happy kitty 😔
