Sounds great, is complete nonsense. In a maritial relationship the wife MUST comply to the need of the husband: 1 Corinthians 7:5 Paul wrote: "Do not deny yourselves to each other, unless you first agree to do so for a while in order to spend your time in prayer; but then resume normal marital relations. In this way you will be kept from giving in to Satan's temptation because of your lack of self-control." Here Paul does not referr to the "lack of control" as something unnatural, but as a natural consequence of being human and being denied: Sexually.

@DIBBY40 You have a fundamental misunderstanding of anorexia. Anorexics don't have a compulsion to not eat. They want to eat. In fact, many will confess that they love food but choose to ignore those desires for fear of gaining weight. What they're seeking, like the video alludes to, is control. The food and starving of their body is merely a mechanism of obtaining that control.

Amen, hallelujah! Not sure if you ever read the Bible. But you might try reading, rereading, and studying it. It has lots of answers for us. For example, fear of God can be quite helpful. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Proverbs 9:10. Bible says that if we have lustful thoughts, it is akin to "adultery". Matt. 5:28. Christ said it. He also said that adulterers/promiscuous folks will be in the lake of fire. Rev. 21:8. Apostle Paul says that folks involved in fornication and adultery will not inherit the Kingdom. Galatians 5:19-21; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. And yes, this includes church folks. See Matthew 7:13-27. "Many are called, few are chosen". Matthew 20:16. BUT... the GREAT NEWS is that IF we know the Word of God, and continue in it, and believe it, we will realize that Jesus SAID HE came to save us OUT of slavery to sin. Read John 8:31-36 and Romans chapter 6 sometime. It's all in there. So, we are NOT slaves to sin anymore. So we CAN conquer lusts etc... And if we don't, we simply don't care enough to overcome all this, and probably don't really know or care about God all that much. Thus, we will not be in the Kingdom of God. Jesus said several times to the 7 churches of Revelation chapters 2 and 3, that they all need to overcome sin. Jesus' prescription for overcoming sin is in Matthew 16:24-27: He said we have to DENY SELF, pick up our cross (i.e., die to self, die to sin, die to satan), and follow Him. He said we have to "lose OUR lives" for Him, and also to "forsake all that we have" for Him to be His. See Luke 14:26-33 and Mark 10>28-30. So this walk is not a cakewalk. Jesus describes it as a "cross", and Paul said it will involve "tribulation" and trials. See Acts 14:22, 2 Tim. 1:8. Jesus said that those who love Him keep His commandments. The New Testament is reportedly loaded with about 1050 "commandments", so we had better get busy and find out what they are. And always remember, we have the power to overcome sin/lust/whatever within us, if we are His. Christ sends His Holy Spirit to us to help us and empower us. Hence, sin does NOT have any power over us anymore. See John 14:14-21, 17:17, and Romans 6:14. See also John 6:63. Please at least consider getting into your Bible.

The freedom comes when you are satisfied by righteousness, and no longer even feel the need to indulge sexually. Imagine an obese person who loses 50 lbs and feels healthy and strong. They can now find satisfaction in eating food how it’s supposed to be enjoyed, by giving life. Just like sex, which is meant to give life and unity to a God fearing marriage. The once-obese person wouldn’t find the same satisfaction from over indulging in junk food once they’ve tasted the freedom

Move your physical body and try not to fight it. Go for a walk or run, go and talk to a family member, or call a friend. We are more apt to lose against temptation when we fight it in seclusion rather than flee and seek help or leave the physical setting. I hope this is helpful to someone. God bless everyone ❤

Romans 12 starts with renewing our minds The heart and mind are tied together The Bible also talks about the eyes and ears What we see and hear For men we have 4 basic needs Food, Water, Sex, Sleep I encourage you to start each day praying and committing all of your life and day to Him Then if you so choose or wish too, the issues or struggles you face daily Detail in prayer a recognition and commitment to God for help over that struggle Some people work thru it on their own Other's do counseling Whatever works for you I have my own personal detailed prayer I use when overwhelmed at times If you are a Christian, the daily walk is a life of progress towards God We are encouraged to a life of perfection and holiness However, we are human and make mistakes When we fall down, get back up Don't stay down You know your making progress in your life when you get back up or come back to God sooner than you used too And I know this thread is about sexual struggles However we can apply this to all areas of life "I struggle with __________ ......." Allowing you to fill in the blank of your personal problem With all this said and shared, I would be wrong to not include this information as well If you are not a born again Christian, then you need to start there Pray to God and ask Him to forgive you of all your sins To wash and cleanse you and make you right with Him If you ask "what is sin" ??? Sin is anything that you have done wrong according to the Bible and God standard Once you have prayed to God and asked forgiveness of your sins That starts a whole new life for you If you read this far and want to know more, please feel free to contact me Steve

knowledge If you are gay or transgender and know someone who is, this is important information! Sexual orientation is determined in the womb during fetus development. Various hormones are introduced at specific times to accomplish this. The fetus plays no part in this process. A person is born with predetermined physical, biological & psychologic features. It is, therefore, not a choice & consequently not a sin & not immoral. It is a natural path of our evolution & found commonplace in nature. Medical research in this area clearly explains this process. Those who believe it is an abomination do so based not on facts but on religious authority. It is their right to believe this and I understand them. It must be made clear however, it is based on religion not science. If you are truly interested in the truth based on knowledge, the book Gay, Straight & the Reason Why by Dr. Simon Levay explains this with numerous research articles. If you want to understand the truth & have respect for others & yourself, this book will help. It also has, unlike the bible written over 2000 years ago by men that had no understanding of science, an extensive bibliography. I strongly recommend the book. If you chose to respond to me, please read this book &/or the numerous articles referred to in the reference section before hand. The public must be exposed to facts & knowledge. It is an obligation for those who know the truth & must defend it. Don’t let the religious pull you down to their level of ignorance. Peace

I had almost the exact same experience. Sex became my master and I was its slave. Only by coming to know God was I able to see the truth about sexuality. The world says we're free to do whatever we want and it's all good, but that's a lie, its not all good. The consequences of sexual sin are devastating. When I saw the truth or to be more accurate, when the holy spirit showed me the truth, I could see that so long as I was in bondage to my sexual "needs" I could never love a woman properly. Because I'd always have a secret agenda, to use her for my own gratification. And I think this is why so many marriages fail, because each one is trying to get something from the other. Women use men aswell, not for sex though, but for attention and resources. Both men and women have been equally corrupted by sin. Women have to be careful that a man isnt just using her for his own gratification and men have to be careful that a woman isn't using him for attention and resources, she should love you the same if you're broke as if you were doing well.

Exactly. Sadly today this message is not preached in pull pits. Most preaching is only for marriages and families already established but little to no knowledge for singles. And the sad part is that churches are encouraging singleness too much 😢 somewhere along the line people need to connect to the holy spirit instead of purging their own flesh through rituals like Paul warned some of the churches in the new testament

I met a woman that reminded me of how far I've run from my faith and encouraged to me to come back. She bought a copy of your book for me and I'm working my way through it. Some days are easier than others, but I struggle often with differentiating between what you describe as "suppression" in your book and how I can "embrace my sexual desires" as God intended them to be without straying towards lust. I pray on it quite a bit, but I find myself sliding back down every couple of days. I'm going to take away "If you cannot control your own sexual desires, you will inevitably seek to control others, to gratify them," because I know she deserves better as someone I would like to call my wife some day.

I only kept releasing my urges just to relieve built up stress and my climaxes felt less impactful It wasn't until I realized that I wasn't in tune with the emotional aspect and was only relying on primal urges. When you have sex with someone, they aren't just an object to release your desires upon. I realized that they feel just as you do, so if you ignore their wellbeing and feelings it numbs the connection you normally would feel together. Like a vampire draining energy from another person instead of creating energy and sharing it together After realizing that, I felt the desire to honor my partner and their body just as I would expect them to do the same for me Changed my whole outlook on intimacy and sex overall

When I was called to celibacy I prayed for deliverance from sexual desire so I would not be tempted. The Holy Spirit instructed me on what I had to do to be freed from that nature. It was a six month process of rebuking every thought or impulse and immediately turning to God. The final phase was the hardest, there was something very primal that rose up in me, enraged and this awareness that if I just yielded the rage would go away. I resisted it for weeks and then one morning I woke and it was gone and I was free from such desires. God is so faithful!

I have recently finished a 60 hour fast, broken by communion, which has shed much light on my lusts. I had found, then, that fasting all but eliminated the power of sexual temptation. I was tempted many times in the same ways I was before, but each time, the temptations had no weight, no draw on my attention. But of course, fasting cannot be done at all times, and once I had a hearty meal, the temptations descended once more with renewed fury. I soon gave in, then. However, in my disappointment, and in my struggle against these temptations, I came across this video. I have listened to many instructions on how to deal with sexual temptation, and pornography especially. But this one struck a cord. For the past several hours, I have been left alone, no responsibilities or company, and so have been assailed by temptation constantly. And so I struggled. I would constantly consider the temptations, toy with them, admonish myself, pray for a moment, all while I was trying my best to distract myself with a personal project of mine. When I came across this video, I was just about on the verge of giving in. The excuses whispered to me were nearly deafening, for why tonight would not be a failure if I succumbed. But something you said clicked. What are my sexual desires for? I have seen one purpose tonight, as I was battling temptations. I was, in my struggle, working. Creating. Channeling my energy. The desire was put towards something, diverted, if only a little, from the dam of sin and damnation that was about to burst. And at the same time, I was strengthening my will, painfully aware of every crack The Enemy was grasping and prying at. And when I inevitably am tempted again, I will remember what I have learned, and put it to use once again. And when I inevitably fail, in big ways and small, I will learn yet more. The road to salvation is a hard one, fraught with miseries and distractions, the road agents of the Devil, ready to take advantage of the suffering traveler. But if I don't give them my soul, no matter how they may beat me down, and weary me to collapse, the Lord will pick me up once again, to press forward, and continue the pilgrimage. I will be doubtless tempted again, very soon. Pray for me, please. I will certainly need it. A revelation does not save a man, no matter how profound, not alone, and not immediately. But I am better equipped, now. The gate is stronger, the tower taller. The armor of God is reforged, and replaced upon me. I have been granted a hopeful repast. But now, I must go to face my enemy, once again.

This is so important. In general, what humanity without God pushes for looks like freedom: Doing what you want. If you give in to your impulses and fleshly desires, you become enslaved to them. Addictions, dependency, narcissism, etc. Only God brings true freedom. People who don't know Him and His word think the Bible is restrictive, when all it's doing is instructing us how to live a holy, healthy, FREE life. It keeps us from the ways of the world, which bring woe and ultimately, death. Bless you reading this.

I am atheist and my friend always calls me a “wannabe slut” because I would probably be quite promiscuous if it wasn’t for me having severe social and emotional issues from a shitty childhood. I only had real sex for the first time recently with said friend. And it’s nice and fun and pretty intimate, too. If it’s really good it can definitely make me a little bit happier for a few days. If it’s bad it can also make me unhappier for a few days. But I also become happier for a few days if I masturbate and it’s really good. If I don’t have sex or masturbate I don’t become depressed either, I just get more horny. Sometimes you can redirect the energy of horniness into work. And sometimes the idea of having sex can be very motivating and help you work or take care of yourself and try harder. It can also bond two ppl together because it’s quite intimate and vulnerable and you share good feelings. And it can also make your mind slightly obsessed with a person in a sexual way if you had rlly hot sex. So sex is very useful and powerful and has many different powerful effects on you which can be very positive but can also be negative under the wrong circumstances. But for me it’s really not a “need”. I don’t become sad if I don’t have sex at all. I crave sex. But in the same way I crave a bag of chips. This bag of chips isn’t inherently meaningful to me. It’s not going to bring me fulfillment. But I just really *crave* it right now. But that doesn’t mean it’s a biological *need* to eat the bag of chips. In the same way sex isn’t really a need for me. However what are real needs are intimacy, affection, companionship the care of another human and so on. Without those things our spirit withers away and we become depressed. Those things are meaningful. At least to me. The bag of chips isn’t meaningful by itself but if you share it with a friend and afterwards you cuddle it might be. But maybe I his also differs from person to person or between genders. I’m a man and I crave sex but I don’t need it. It’s not *important* to me or my life. But I’ve heard from several women that they do think it’s important and meaningful in their lives. I also think many people in the modern world are starved for intimacy and affection and the only way they can get it is by entering into a sexual relationship with someone. Maybe that’s why people value it so much. But for me it’s really not easy hat important. But my body is programmed to be horny and so I’m trying to make the best of it and use it to further my happiness.

My goodness, you hit the nail on the head. I was having flashbacks to my previous relationship as I watched this. I couldn’t help but smile oddly enough as I said “yep, I was the same way!” Not that me being that way was good, but what’s good is that God showed me who I was and freed me from it. That’s the good part. For anyone watching, listening, etc., my hope is that you grow more to realize that the freedom Christ brings us is exactly as outlined in the video: “freedom FROM”, not “freedom TO”. And if you feel like you don’t have that freedom, then pray and don’t stop. If you desire it, God CAN and WILL bring it.
@patrickkozak9490 Жыл бұрын
You said it right, If we cannot control our own "needs" and desires, we will seek to control others to gratify them. This is true in all areas of life . Now the world pushes aetheism and will to power more and more, the opposite of love. So often especially in regards to advice in romantic relationships , it is popular now to focus on what you are getting from the other person. It is often recommended that of someone doesn't "SERVE" you, walk away from them, married or not.

Several years ago I read Pope John Paul’s Theology of the Body, or summarized parts in a short book and ten CDs. It impressed me as the first Christian leader who seemed to have an honest and accurate grasp on Christian sexuality, especially as it pertains to young people. Too many Christian leaders like Focus on the Family and Pastor James Dobson get lost in I think a misinterpretation on this subject by peddling an “old-person” philosophy that many ignore as seemingly out of touch. Pope John Paul did not lose this audience. Aged Pope John Paul (I am not a Catholic) captured the essence of sexuality in the Lord’s name for ordinary people, the young included, a vision to be understood and practiced. You captured an expression of those writings in your podcast. God keeps leading me to these sources in my quest for answers. I am trying to take Matthew 5:27 and the first half of Song of Solomon before the wedding, and understand the male desire as God would see it. Christian leaders constantly point to Matt 5:27 and ignoring the real life fact than men see women with adoration and I believe that vision can be explained Scripturally. There must be something short of lust in beauty. I do not understand, but one can see that desire in the Old Testament in the numbers of concubines and wives held by many Godly and ungodly men alike. The book by Joshua Harris, Sex is not the problem, Lust Is may offer some answers. I believe I am open-minded and willing to think about your perspective of liberation for the compulsion to indulge. Did God intend us to hide from desire, or use it responsibility to explain human feelings. God gave us desire, and we believe his creation is perfect, so would we want to run from desire altogether? Thank you.

In my personal journey battling with sexual sin/desires, putting Christ first has been a hill of disbelief i needed to overcome. I use to hear “God is the answer to your lust” and i would deep down think “well yes, but i need a more practical solution.” The truth is is that Jesus wasnt front and center in my life apart from my mouth. I can say now that the most important motivator that i have gained in the last few years is wanting to honor Christ. In previous battles, while there was conviction, i didnt love Christ enough to obey Him. Now when i am tempted, there is a much greater desire to obey and to honor Him. Doesnt mean i dont give in, but the battle has changed. I can tell you, when you are in the moment of giving in/about to and you think in your mind thoughts like “am i really gonna do this to Christ?” and flee sin, Its really empowering after so many years of giving in. Im not against practical plans/motivators as those are needed too, but if you arent a matured Christian who doesnt read even monthly consistently, how can you expect to win the battle?

"Freedom from Compulsion" is a good way to put it, because while self-control is not the only virtue that can be correctly described as a form of power, it certainly does yield new abilities and freedoms in a more direct way than most of the others. Nothing has benefited me so much as being able to look at someone beautiful (by my definition, at least,) and know that no matter what I feel as a result of that, I can handle it, and prevent myself from saying or doing something I'll later regret. It really is an incredible power to be able to master your own actions. Still, even after all the practice I've had in the virtue of self-control over the last 20 years, none of my feelings or impulses are any different now than they were in my teenage years, and I have absolutely no influence over them, apart from blocking them from reaching the "words" or "actions" phase. It's still a source of terrible agony for me, and I long for my Heavenly home, so I will finally have relief from this constant tension, which is always tearing me apart on the inside. I started to go gray at 32, and as people and relationships in my area of the world have grown worse and worse, I'm struck by both how hopeless it feels; knowing that I will never find love until Heaven welcomes me home, and yet, by the firm conviction that no choice could have been wiser or more beneficial for me personally. To sacrifice the power to make that choice for myself is something I don't want to do. But I don't want to live like this anymore either. The burden is too great, and I've born it for much too long. I want mercy. I want to go home.
@zeromagnum2811 Жыл бұрын
The truth about Christ is that the same way he saves us is the same way he gives us freedom from bondages what ever that bondage might be. You will never overcome it by your own will power or effort. Pray to the lord and seek him for deliverance from it. Give him the burden because we can't. He Can. It may not happen over night. It could take some time, or it might happen quickly. But if you Seek the lord for that freedom from bondages in your life. The Lord will answer in his time and give it. But as long as we try to overcome in our own efforts we will always fall short or outright fail. Salvation and Sanctification are in Jesus and what he did on the cross.
@mytruepower2 Жыл бұрын
@@zeromagnum2811 I think some people get this backwards, and assume that God doesn't help those who make an effort of their own. That's completely false. The very fact that we are *able* to make an effort of our own *shows* that God has helped us. I'm just sick of having to struggle so hard.
@zeromagnum2811 Жыл бұрын
@@mytruepower2 What i meant was by our own effort we cannot overcome sin. That is why you struggle so hard as you are tying to overcome sin by your own will power. And at times there will be days we can but we will always fail in the end trying to do it by our own will power because nobody is strong enough to do it on their own. I know from experience and you do as well based on your own words of struggling so hard. Our freedom is in the Blood of the lamb. We can never overcome the world the flesh or the devil of our own efforts. All of that was defeated on the Cross. So it is through Christ and submitting our efforts and will to him that we are given the victory he won. That is for Salvation and victory over our bondages and struggles. Should we do good things that we can do and strive to be better. Yes. But we will never fully succeed on our own. It is through what Christ did on the Cross that delivers us. We cannot help God make us better. But it is human instinct to want to do something to get what we seek. Either trying to do it ourselves, or fighting ourselves to beat a sin in our lives. No man or woman is strong enough to overcome everything that weighs on us. If we have 8 sins and can overcome 6 of them by will power somehow. There will always be the other two we never stop on our own. The key is Faith in the lord and what he did for us. Keep your eyes on what he did and ask him to help you overcome and realize that no matter the failures you have God is there and will never leave you if you seek him for help. One of the Devils favorite things to do is make all of us beat ourselves up and put our struggles and failures on our mind to make us depressed or attempt to crush our faith if he can. The Devil will always highlight our failures. But Christ overcame our failures. And in him we are delivered. Remember that and look to him to help you overcome the things that trouble you. Let him handle it submit the struggle to him. And i know that isnt the easiest thing to do because again our first instinct is to fight our issues ourselves because we tell ourselves I will beat this. But the truth is we are all weak to the sin nature. its stronger than we are. But Christ defeated all things of the Devil and Sin. All the answers are found in what Christ did on the Cross.
@mytruepower2 Жыл бұрын
@@zeromagnum2811 I suppose it doesn't hurt to be reminded of that. Eternal Life is a free gift from God. Our role is in accepting that gift through faith (read; faithfulness,) but it's certainly true that none of us can overcome evil completely. Everything I've been saying about virtue being power is about the end goal we have. Perfect happiness and fulfillment. Hints of this come to different people in different ways, but if there's one thing I've learned from movies and TV, it's that just watching someone else do everything is not enough to make a person happy, and if trusting God with my fate will make me happier, that's only because God's will and mine don't substantially conflict with regard to my end goals; my kind of happiness, by my own judgment. This is because God wants me to be happy. He wants that for everyone, but it can never happen here, because this world isn't meant for that. Jesus made his sacrifice on the Cross to save people, but to save them from what? It wasn't sadness, or pain, or death. Those things still exist. Jesus saved people from hopelessness and futility, by offering them a way to Salvation and eternal happiness. But that doesn't mean the road isn't full of thumb tacks and broken glass along the way, and it doesn't keep people from getting tired of the stress between their desperate longing for satisfaction and their need for eternity.

Our world has been infected with the immorality of a Sexual Revolution that defines enslavement to sexual desires as freedom. This is one of those videos that if everyone on earth viewed, would go so far in reversing the damage. I can only imagine how many people, if they would heed your words (St. JPII's words), would actually fulfill their vocations to God rather than trade them for lives of sin. Great job. I mean to share this. Pax.

@brotherdamien1804 Жыл бұрын
@@ashleyspurling5701 I agree with you Ashley. They see me as not being free, but why? At the root of it all is the question of whether God exists or not. If He doesn't, then no one has an eternal soul that can be enslaved to sexual sin. But if God does exist then an eternal soul can be enslaved to sexual sin (according to Jesus, Scripture, and the teachings of the Catholic Church). True freedom (we are taught by the above) comes when one is free from sin. So, what do you think--does God exist or not?
@ashleyspurling5701 Жыл бұрын
@Brother Damien I do. Just not the God in the Bible. A Bible that's been rewritten multiple times throughout history and has had stuff added and removed depending on the religion or historical time period. A book full of inaccuracies and contradictions, that to a normal logical person who has not been indoctrinated at a young age to blindly follow it, depicts a God who is cruel, selfish, sadistic, egotistical, misogynistic, and genocidal. And I'd rather not believe that about the Creator of the Universe. You speak of truth and God's will, but if we are being completely honest, you don't truly know whether it's "God's will" or not. You just want to believe it's true cause your religion tells you it is. Every religion tells its followers that they alone are following what God truly wants and that all others are lost.

@Brother Damien I was raised (and basically forced) at a young age into Christianity by my family. Long story short, religion, along with abstinence/purity culture, left me empty depressed and damaged physically mentally and emotionally as an adult. Years later, I'm still trying to heal from the mental prison I was in that left me feeling worthless and alone. And like I said, there was no logical sense that I could see that God could be that cruel and sadistic as the Bible shows. The Bible, like all religious books, was not written by God but by men who claim its from God. And men are corrupt. History has shown time and time again that those in power can manipulate the masses by keeping them uneducated and living in fear that they will be punished by a vengeful authoritarianistic God.

Thank you for the channel. The videos are very helpful. I know about myself, that when I hit very low points in my life that the temptation to impurity is extremely strong. Certain events can trigger this impulse, and then I’m reminded of past wounds and rejections that bring up painful memories and turning to impurity in the past had been an outlet for the pain. When I am in a better state, I am content on my walk with Our Lord as a single celibate woman, but in the low times when the sexual tension is strong, then I wonder if I should get married. Saint Ignatius says to not make major life choices in times of desolation. Granted you don’t get married overnight as there’s a process, but I know that having strong sexual urges doesn’t mean a call to marriage. However, in times of darkness and temptation nothing is really clear. As for me, I continue to be faithful to the Sacraments and remain open to what God’s Will is for my life. Praying for everyone who is struggling. Stay close to Jesus and ask Our Blessed Mother’s intercession.
