Every tummy is different, but I like pizza for dinner and leftover pizza for breakfast before a really long run. Needs to be about 90 minutes between eating and running for me though.

I wish I could recall their names, but there were / are old school famous runners & authors who used to load up on carbs - but now they say it’s bad and they all have diabetes from having carbed-up all those years as runners. Anyway, this alternative opinion is out there if you care to find it. I’ve also heard of runners taking MCT oil just before running for energy.

Dr Tim Noakes, the godfather of running science, has taken back his original nutrition chapter from Lore of Running. He now advocates for a high protein, high fat "ancestral" diet instead of the old carbo-loading wisdom. Runners have success with both approaches but it's something to think about

Define “carb”. Do you mean fruits, starchy vegetables, legumes and whole grains? Or sugar and heavily refined products typically high in hydrogenated and saturated fats (donuts, pastries etc)?

Not enough in my opinion. A banana only has about 105 calories and 27g of carbs per banana. How long are you running for? I think you need more than that
