My biggest key with adding fats vs carbs is how "full" I feel. I like to eat a lot and need to feel "full." Therefore, I always value lower calorie dense foods and carbs over fats because I can eat more of them than I can of fats (as long as they're high quality carbs, not processed foods). I still hit my fat goal and protein goal, but then I can use the extra calories to add carbs so I feel full. 100 calories of carbs is more volume than 100 calories of fat. I think it's important for people to understand calorie density when it comes to choosing.

This was perfect timing. I’m starting a mini cut and was never taught or educated on how to do a cut or what to eat while doing a cut. For reference, i went from 110lbs to 138lbs in the span of 3 years. I weight lift 4-5 days a week, do compounds and do a push-pull-leg split. I always do a dynamic warm up with mobility work before every lifting session and end with 15-45mins of cardio. I am a personal trainer myself so I’m on my feet 5 hours of the day. I’ve been decreasing my carb intake by doing 5 days protein, fats, veggies fruits based and then 2 days (my rest days) I re-introduce carbs those days (rice, whole grains, etc.). What would be a recommendation for a mini cut for me, a 25 yr old female?

At your age and if you’re healthy without any chronic disease. You shouldn’t stress yourself out. As long as your taking in quality calories.

Maintaining: 1 meal = 1 fistful of protein + 1 fistful of carb + 1 fistful of fiber Bulking: 1 meal = 1 fistful of protein + 1 fistful of carb + 1 fistful of fiber + 1 serving of dessert Cutting: 1 meal = 1 fistful of protein + 1/2 fistful of carb + 1 fistful of fiber Fats is usually mixed in those. No need to count. Made my life easier instead of chatting down everything in spreadsheet. 😅

So far, though it might only be my personal perception, whenever I eat fats it is more stubborn. Perhaps it’s overeating - I’ve noticed that I tend to eat the same volume of food, but not the same calories. I’m guessing that the different thermic effect of different macros might be the player here.
