I'm travelling to thailand later this year and the full moon party is 1000% something I plan on doing 😍

I just found your channel today and binged watched your entire SE Asia series. I subscribe to a few other travel vloggers and just like to say I love your personality and the way you narrate the videos! Keep up the good work! I didn’t make it to a full moon party the last time I was in Thailand, so I plan on going back this April. This video makes me even more anxious to go. Thanks for the tips.

Yessss! Off-island sleeping is where its AT. I was lucky to have gone with some Full Moon Party vets who knew the ins and outs, it was such a blast :)

Go to Eden on koh panyang and get good mdma. There is also a mushie bar overlooking the beach in haadrin that makes deadly shakes. Two years ago a couple from England were stabbed to death in koh tao right on the beach. Avoid like the plague

I'll be at the Full Moon Party in a few months. I never thought about staying on Koh Tao instead, I was gonna go there to get Scuba Certified regardless so that sounds like quite the plan.
@lindsaymccormick96078 жыл бұрын
Yes! Totally recommend that - my little brother Tommy is actually there right now getting his SCUBA cert and then going to the Full Moon Party the same way. Quick tip: you book your SCUBA cert place before you get to Koh Tao, you can arrange for them to pick you up at the dock once you get there instead of having to haggle with taxis. Happy travels!

That sounds like quite the plan, I'll be sure to do that!

Nice video !! Btw what about the entry in the party ? Do we just have to show up their or book some kind of entry ticket for the party ?? Because i read somewhere entry costs 100 baht ! So what is it ?
@lindsaymccormick96077 жыл бұрын
I don't think there is an entry fee - I don't remember paying one at least. There are covers for some bars but 'not for the entire party.
@PeterEk317 жыл бұрын
100 baht is the entry fee, and that is under 3 US dollar. And you get a rubber wrist band that show that you have paid the fee.

how did you get to the island ? did you fly out of Bangkok? if so how much was it
@lindsaymccormick96078 жыл бұрын
We took a night bus from Bangkok to southern Thailand and then a boat to the specific island we wanted to go to (in this case Koh Tao or Ko Pnang) - I took a bus back up to Bangkok after takin a boat from the islands. It's all pretty cheap. Between $10 - $40 a segment

Hey, I'm loving your videos and tips 🙂 I'm thinking about doing a 6 month solo trip around SE Asia! Would you think to do/recommend FMP for a female solo traveller?
@ambermelchers91768 жыл бұрын
And is there recommended months to go/not go?
@lindsaymccormick96078 жыл бұрын
Hey Amber, thanks so much! I would totally recommend going to the FMP as a solo female traveler. Maybe spend a few extra days in Koh Tao or on the island (if you want to actually say on the party island) before the FMP so you can make some friends and find a little crew to go with (just because it will be fun to do that.) Even if you don't and you actually go solo to the party, that is fine! Just don't get wasted, keep your head about you. I found the crowd there to be crazy but friendly and there are places you can go to relax if you need to get away from the party. I see it as the same as going to any festival or party on your own. It's not dangerous but don't get so wasted that you are no longer in control of yourself. Happy travels and have fun!
@lindsaymccormick96078 жыл бұрын
Not sure about what months are better to go... Maybe look up the weather around there and decided the best months to go that way? I think the party is the same amount of crazyness every month.
@purpledrank007 жыл бұрын
so i'm going to thailand next month and want to hit up the full moon party on the 11th. do you have any advice on getting a room because everything i've found requires like 4-5 day bookings and i'm only gonna be there for like a day or 2 before traveling onward
@lindsaymccormick96077 жыл бұрын
Shane Peterson watch the tip part at the end of this video. I booked my stay on Koh Tao and took the ferry over. There is not a minimum stay on Koh Tao and it's a hour and a half boat ride. I'd recommend doing that and not staying on the FMP island. Have fun!
@purpledrank007 жыл бұрын
right on thanks, my bad, i see your tips now. been awhile since i first watched the video (should have rewatched it before asking lol) your videos helped me choose thailand as my 1st travel destination :) can't wait to be climbing sea cliffs in railay and ziplining across phuket before heading to the party!

Arrived at 10 pm last time I went. Stayed in the north of the Island as it was a lot cheaper and then they arranged transport to the party. Partied to 11:00am when it finished and then chilled out by the pool after. Girls pee'd in the Ocean too ;0P Awesome Party, but has changed a lot since early to mid 2000's Was a party and a chill out the same time. Now it feels like rave.
@PeterEk317 жыл бұрын
I always live outside the party area, because it is cheaper and more relax. And it is much closer to all the other nice beaches on the island, the price level is not more expensive than Koh Tao what i have noticed. And in 31 january i will atending for my sevent full moon party :)

Where's is a good place to leave all of your stuff locked up? Is it safe enough just sitting in your room or do you have to find a locker for everything? Love the videos by the way!
@lindsaymccormick96078 жыл бұрын
Sometimes hostels come with lockers if you have your own lock (I always travel with a small padlock) - I put my passport, cash, cards, laptop, hard drive and iPhone in there but if there isn't a locker, I just left my stuff in the hostel either on my bed or in my backpack next to my bed (lots of time I'd had my passport and other valuables on me while I was out though.) I never had a problem and I traveled with a decent amount of valuable tech stuff. I don't know if it was luck or what but I didn't lock things up most of the time and I never had anything stolen in a hostel or guesthouse. Hope this helps and thanks Matthew, happy travels!

Why dont u just stay there at koh phangan ?
@lindsaymccormick96078 жыл бұрын
The main reason is because where the bungalows and guesthouses on Koh Phangan is decently far from Hadrin Beach where the Full Moon Party is so taxis price gauge after the party and it's can get pretty expensive to get home. Hotels on Koh Phangan can be expensive for the Full Moon Party and often have minimums where you have to stay at least 3 or 5 nights. It is way easier and cheaper to just stay on Koh Tao and commute for the party I think
@PeterEk317 жыл бұрын
I will attend for my seventh full moon party now 31 january. And i will stay just 15 minutes outside the pary area where it is more relaxed, and feel not as exploited as the party area. Simple clean room with 2 beds and aircon for about 30 US dollar, in a small bungalow area next to the sea. I think it is good price, but 4 days is minimum stay at this place over full moon party. We buy ticket for ride to the party at where we live, and we pay like 100 baht each for the ride to the party. The way back i don´t remember the price, but it think it was the same price, or just little more. Can´t say exactly the price, because i was drinking all night and went for the ride about 9 am.

Hey Moe, I prefer traveling alone. My first solo trip was to Italy and I was 19 years old. I made a lot of mistakes but learned a lot and had an amazing time as well. If you do chose to travel alone, be sure to stay in highly rated hostels so you can meet other travelers along the way. Thanks for watching and happy travels!

Yeah, I went there twice and the last time was one fo the craziest thing i've ever done: i took the flight from Australia (I'm Italian but at that time i was living and working there) and i went straight to that party and i had a blast! And straight after the party, i flew back to Australia: i was kinda a corpse, ahahaahah

Bad advice, Koh Tao is much less chilled than Koh Phangan and much more crowded, but if you're only heading to the party how would you know? Only Haad Rin itself gets crowded during party times. Koh Phangan has a thriving yoga centre around Sri Thanu, you don't get much more chilled than yoga! Good Advice. Come to the island many days before the full moon and leave many days after, ferries will be more comfortable, accommodation cheaper and then you have the time to find the real Koh Phangan. 'Getting stuck' as she puts it, could actually lead to the holiday you really wanted instead of the tourist merry go round. The party's such as Lost paradise, Eden, Hollystone, Baan Sabai, great bars like Rasta Home, Freeway Bar, 360 for a day party, lots of this the full mooners all miss. You can't find an isolated beach on Koh Tao but you can on Koh Phangan, some of the real gems you must get a boat taxi to. Instead of jumping on a crowded ferry why not get a taxi boat and chill out? Island hop too much wanting to see more, you will actually see much less, if you love Thailand, a hippy vibe, cool beach party's, way better than the FMP, unbelievable beaches, and some Thai culture, stay on Koh Phangan for longer. Island hoppers get stressed, fact! Chill out and don't book everything online, it's way more expensive!!!
