Everything you guys experienced, we experienced, and all with the same questions. I fully expected a nightmare experience when I bought my rig, luckily I'm a mechanic by trade, and everything was a breeze to fix (but it shouldn't be that way). The plus side is, RV dealer's and manufacturers don't discriminate, whether you buy a $500k rig or a $14k rig, they treat everyone like shit after the sale. By the way, Thor Industries owns Jayco, Entegra, Tiffen along with a whole host of other manufacturers, so it's great the Tiffen division hooked you up in the past.

Its the dealer. We bought a new Jayco 5th wheel September 2022. Had our refrigerator fail. Our dealer submitted a claim-and within a couple of weeks, a new one was installed. Jayco approved the claim instantly. Our roof failed. Major issue. Our dealer immediately submitted a claim and within days, Jayco approved a new one. We took it in and the new one was installed in 3 weeks. Big or small problem, Couch Family RV has responded promptly and handled our issues. I am not related to them but i am so happy we drive past our local dealer and additional 350 miles to purchase from Couch. Pick your dealer carefully. It matters. My parents bought a Jayco travel trailer at the beginning of 2023. There were some issues that they told the dealer about. We took the trailer back to the dealer at the END of the season (when they were able to fit it in). My mom had a full legal pad page of items that needed replacing or repair. It took about 6 weeks for all the repairs. The dealership showed my parents line by line what was fixed. We took the trailer back to the campground, leveled it, and covered it for the winter. This spring we unwrapped and opened the trailer for my parents. The main slide with the fridge, fireplace and tv didn’t go all the way out. The interior trim piece is a full inch away from the wall. My dad called the dealer and they said it was close enough for the seal to keep the wind and water out. 😳 It is a nice unit, but for that much money, I would have thought the quality would have been better… The dealer kinda sucks for wanting to charge $600 each way to pick up and return the trailer (50 miles each way). They also are shameful for not checking the trailer for defects before selling it to my parents.

I love my 2012 Jayco Swift! Which I bought in 2018. It’s been all over the country, many miles. From California to Tennessee. Yes, I’ve had a few minor repairs. The biggest repair is the refrigerator which I’m having replaced now. I have found great shops in Oklahoma and Texas. No regrets. If I were to buy another travel trailer, it would be a Jayco, the camper is solid, there isn’t anything coming apart in the interior or exterior.

It's not just Jayco. All of them are built horribly. I bought a Primetime Sanibel from Camping World. My first trip out, the leveling jacks didn't work so back home to get those fixed. 2nd trip out when hooking up sewer hose for 1st time got blasted with raw sewage that was left in the pipe between cap and valve and the rear awning ripped away from the wall and came crashing down (was in the stowed position even). 3rd trip out, shower door shattered while in travel, Water heater went out, rear AC fried (fortunately was in North Indiana where it was made and got it to the builder for repairs). 4th trip out. black tank sensors completely failed as did gray water valve. It has been saif that the 1st 2 years are in the shop more than out on the road.

I've only got to 1//4 of the video, and it looks to be like 95% of the brands on the market, are having all the same issues. One needs to do their own repairs, as going through the dealer (even after their promises at time of purchase about 'being there' for you). We just got back from a 5 week trip yesterday ourselves with our Tiffin motorhome (thankfully had no issues) but a friend who has a 'new' Solitude 29' Grand Design, had the electronics go out on their fridge (this is the second time)! After the first time, with Grand Design sending them a new part, they had a fellow at a Marine location do a quick solder a 'quick fix' to their old fridge electronics board, which they brought along as a 'just in case' and within the first 2 weeks...sure enough, even the newly send part had the same issue as the first! He also had to do some work to the central island in his fifth-wheel, as one end wasn't staying contacted to the floor! Now, this WAS not a low cost RV, it's one of the more expensive, and they still have problems. Another KZbin couple that live in their Grand Design (2019) are having 'numerous' issues, so what I'm saying here, the majority are having RV issues, and the dealers just can't keep up, so if you can't fix it yourself, you may have to adjust your schedule plans for camping out of the blue, because of break-downs unfortunately!

Had a Jayco pop up several years ago. Had it for, oh gosh, 15-20 years. Same thing with the dealer and their service dept. It was pure crap. Bought it new. Had to take to shop after first trip out. "A few screws ought to fix it". Next trip right back in. Third trip they sent it back to Jayco. They argued back and forth for a month, blaming each other for the problems, then gave back unfixed. Learned then, never buy a Jayco nor buy from that dealer, which by the way is now out of business, as well how to fix most problems with it. We did good with it, traded it in on a Starcraft travel trailer, happy as a lark with it, and the old pop up sold the next weekend.

So here’s how I learned to navigate thru stuff like this.. First advise the parts RV service department to tear down and shoot U over the list of All repair parts necessary to fix the problems.. then U call and order & pay for the parts & the expedited shipping to you. Then take the parts and carry them to the dealership service manger and say here sre the parts thats needed, put them on. I’ll pick it up in a day or so ..; and then after THEY can wade thru the red tape for your claim with Jayco to get U reimburse … The hundred dollars for the parts will save you months of waiting. … Cause U got a nickel waiting on a dollar here, as my old man used to say.

Part of the problem we have had is that the dealer won't fix problems that don't even require parts. We had a wiring short causing the control panel to flash of and on when driving down the road. After 5 attempts, and weeks of time in the shop, it was still never fixed. Loose wires are a huge problem in the industry and tracing them is a nightmare.

I feel your pain. Brought our mallard home 20 miles, the slide came lose and started to exit the wall while on the hwy, the loveseat came lose and flipped over, I notice the battery cables entering out lippert frame had no grommet, the wheel smelled funny so I pulled one off, all 4 wheels had no bearing grease from lippert or heartland, 2 shower door wheels broke. Took it back and our dealer changed owners in 2 days. It's now a jayco dealer which is owned by camping world. They had it for 4 months and only fixed the slide. I picked it up and did all the repairs in one day. The company that makes the shower door rollers was suppose to send me 2 rollers, I know have 2 cases. 48 rollers. Oh one side note, heartland said if I ever travel with any water in any tank it will void our warranty, they are only held in by 2 straps. happy travels.

Sigh, I have full-timed in one for eight years now. Due to my own mistake mine needed to be repaired and they said it would take three weeks. I was without it for three months.

IMHO, the problem with most manufacturers is that workmanship and design are lacking. You are probably much better off building your own, doing it right, and then having a trouble-free home to live in. Thanks for reading....Roy, Yuma Arizona.

You guys have such a great attitude. Necessary when you purchase a RV these days. Either fix it yourself or face nothing but hassles. Average RV has a 50% useful time, rest is down time in bogus repair shops.

I am Soo Sorry for U guys going through this. It's easier to go through this when U are Younger. I have had 5 RV's in my time. I'm 50. But still. I love using them when I travel. But I ALWAYS had to get something fixed from coming back from a trip. And it was Hell to get it done it seemed. I've done the Warranty thing. All I ever expiranced was use Warranty but have $3,000 handy because there Always something Warranty "Did Not Cover". I've been charged $50 for a Complaint fee on Each every thing I mentioned needed a look at to see what they could do or not do anything about from a Dealer. "A Complaint Fee?" Robert Crest RV out of Mesa, AZ. Stay Away.

How could you leave the repair shop without checking the repairs before you leave? Should have learned that by now. Most patient man I’ve seen.
