That Clown short film Pentax made was really good. The Pentax channel is really the old Ricoh channel. I'll try and find three old Pentax channel and see if that short film is there. The film was directed by the same person that made three Sci-fi movie ink.

I've needed this video for a while. I haven't been comfortable doing anything video on anything but I know I "should". Being a Pentax only household (I do have an old Nikkormat but that's full of memories) I have a difficult time leaving my ecosystem. I've had my eye on a couple mirrorless cameras (not you Fuji, Nikon, or Canon VERY not interested) that have really good reviews for video work. Maybe I'll second mortgage my house (just kidding) and get into the Leica ecosystem because who doesn't like the little red circle with an L in it (Like Lavern and Sherly in the 70s or 80s). I dunno. I have a soft spot for Sony and Panasonic (Lumix) too, but new stuff = expensive stuff in my mind. Getting a brand new K-1 ii hurt, but realizing I didn't love it and trading it in for a used K-3 iii (that I absolutely love) was a pocket book vandal. Again, thank you for the video, I use Linux 100% of the time. So 99% of the software you all Apple/Microsoft users use is unavailable to me (KDEnlive, Openshot, and a few others are pretty nice, but I haven't messed with video at all really). Darktable is a really nice RAW photo tool though.

I did a quick run & gun video test with the K3iii Monochrome & DA*16-50. I was pretty impressed to be fair. I'll be following along to see how you go about setting up for video. 👍

With wider angle lenses, it's much easier since more of the image plane will be in focus. But if you're out and wanting to do telephoto stuff with video, it's not that great. I'll do a follow up with the 16-50 PLM. That should be a different story than this video.

I did a couple of test videos using the HDDA 16-50 PLM, and the video stabilisation was pretty good at a wide angle, which is what you're getting with a phone, and what most mirrorless cameras are used with for video. I bought a Sony camcorder for video, mostly because I find a camera designed for stills really uncomfortable for taking video without a tripod, and buying a gimbal is expensive and impractical. I'm amazed that so many people think that any interchangeable lens camera primarily designed for stills is comfortable for video - unless you're planning everything as a cinematographer with all the time and equipment that entails. If the camera is on a tripod or a gimbal, it's shape is less important. I also bought a gimbal for my phone, which works really well for video where you're walking around, and the gimbal for a phone didn't cost the earth. I might spend a bit more on my next phone to get a better camera for video, but I haven't spent a lot of time investigating video on the K3iii. It takes great stills, and that's really why I wanted it. If it did work like a camcorder as well it would be cool, but I think that's an unreasonable expectation.

PS Having said the above, I should try taking a bit more video with the K3iii. The purple fringing on the Sony camcorder is actually pretty ugly, and the lack of spot AF on the camcorder is annoying. You can use the touchscreen to choose a focus point, but this is impractical when hand held. Also, video from the phone is pretty poor quality and doesn't stand up well to editing. It seems a bit self-defeating to spend $2K on a "pro" phone.

Showing off that nice K-B mug... was it like in the movies? An empty mug? 😅 Kind of glad you hit the topic. I've also been thinking of trying out some basic videos with the K-1 ii. I have to put it to the test, see how I like it. Decide if I really should get a small vlogging style camera just for vids. Planning on a small trip this year, would like some short vids.

If Pentax does not have a flat profile. I remember someone that had the Samsung NX 1 and used the retro profile because it's flat and that worked out really well.
@KobieMC10 ай бұрын
They do have a flat profile. As well as a balanced 'Natural' profile.

Hi, I am not able tocset the video AF to C. It simple doenst react. In LV nor in the Menu. Any idea? Seems like it is only working with the 55-300. Not with the 18-135mmnor the 70-210mm which has no mechanical aparture coupler. Cheers

is it good enough for shooting video at home at a desk?.this is for my podcast/youtube channel. I have some pentax lenses and would prefer not to use another brand if possible.

@@SpineMDT If you have a field monitor, then absolutely.

@KobieMC sorry to ask a dumb question. What's a field monitor...like my laptop monitor?
@KobieMC18 күн бұрын
@@SpineMDT A field monitor is a small monitor that can attach to the hotshoe and has an HDMI input that plugs into the camera so you can have the monitor facing yourself while you record. It helps to see if things are in focus etc without just hoping they are.

Thanks for the video. I use my K-3iii to shoot 4K Video of Trains. For this I think it does a great Job. There isn't much to it. Most of the time, I use the Auto Focus to set up the shot and switch to Manual when shooting. My Favorite Lens to use is my DA*50-135mm F2.8 Zoom. I find that with Variable Aperture Lenses as you Zoom the sound of the Aperture moving can be heard clearly. Do you find this with your 55-300 PLM? I plan to purchase a DA* 16-50mm PLM soon and make some more content for my KZbin Channel around my work on Model Trains. Cheers Justin Moy @justinmoy5587

I use an external mic most times unless I'm going to add an audio track over the footage. Even if it's very quiet, you don't really here the aperture change on PLM lenses, you can see it though as the footage gets lighter and darker. I usually shoot at the smallest aperture of the lens or F/8 to combat any of that though and for the sharpness.
