Why is it that ITF Sparring has always been light contact? Don't you think that it would create a lot more interest if it was full contact? I competed at state and national level in Australia for a number of years but I always thought the sparring would be a lot more exciting if it was full contact. For example you look at the numbers of people in attendance at a local Boxing tournament as oppose to a Taekwon-do comp the numbers at the Boxing comp would blow Taekwon-do out of the water, and in saying that people usually pay $20 - $40 to go and watch a local Amatuer MMA show as Taekwondo it's usually free or a gold coin donation. Another problem with ITF is that there little action in the bouts, most bouts I see is competiors flicking out side kicks every now then and just a general lack of action. If the ITF don't change the rules for the better Taekwon-do and other traditional Martial Art schools will basically dissolve away and MMA and Boxing will completely take over!

Chicken_Tonight Chicken_Tonight It is depending on what association you go to. for example, my association tagb. Is half contact for juniors (15 and below). But for 16+ it is full contact. And it is not point stop for black belts.
