As per ur instruction the food stuff carried by u to Germany is it applicable to all category traveller? Do we need to give the declaration at airport what all stuff we r carrying. If possible pl clarify.
@Attirbful4 жыл бұрын
I find your pack list quite interesting. I would NEVER EVER lug wooden spoons, pots and pans or daal and water cookers to Germany. All of these can be bought for VERY little here. You only have to look at the right places (we have amazing Asia food stores and IKEA sells pretty much everything you would want in a kitchen for very little money). Spices - okay. If you are used to certain spices, I understand you would want to bring them. But really, most of the stuff you mention (f.e. pens and paper or personal hygiene products?!) are made in Germany at high quality. I don‘t see why you would bring those and not personal items and clothing, etc. I am confused...
@sr811274 жыл бұрын
I think she is trying to help anyone who is very New to Germany and doesn't even know where to look for things and probably yet to make friends or how to travel there.. How much ever research one does, when it comes to practical experience things are different, as each Country is different. So this may help during their initial weeks/ months of stay. Just my view...
@LJournals1013 жыл бұрын
Yes, interesting to know that if they could bring their whole kitchen, they would. For them, personal items are probably more cheaper to purchase in Germany than their wooden spoons, pots, pans etc. They also like to cook using their own wares. Now you learn new things from other nationalities and that's not bad
@Attirbful3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it is just the opposite: both food and cookware can be purchased for relatively little money, whereas clothing and such are relatively expensive. As a student, she most likely will be included in a welcome program of her university, so she will have people to ask for where to get things from the get go if they don‘t supply her with initial shopping buddies or good instructions where to go to for which items..... To me, it would be more important to bring things I CAN‘T buy where I‘m going, pictures of family, and such. I have lived abroad three years myself and every time, I didn‘t pack a single cooking tool as I was more curious about the local cuisine and cooking habits than wanting to have the same old that I have know already for 20 years. Quite on the contrary: I usually ended up bringing cooking utensils from my host country back home to be able to make things I learned to make and love while abroad...
@Attirbful3 жыл бұрын
I do work at a German university and was responsible for organizing such help for incoming foreign students. We had a program in which we (in the department) matched individual incoming students with up to five German students in the department who were responsible for contacting the student before departure and to respond to their questions, assist them with packing for our university and location (what clothes would be useful etc.), then were responsible for doing first errands (registration with university, registration with city, setting up health insurance and all of the red tape) and to take them shopping for their initial needs. Also, all international departments at German universities have fresher‘s weeks that talk students through what they can get where etc. It‘s not rocket science... It‘s a chance to make friends in the foreign country even before arrival and to have someone to turn to with questions of where and how to do things in the new country. It is a great chance for both incoming and local students to get to know each other, to practice foreign language skills and to experience new cultures and make new friends...
